Hate to see her leave but instead of gettung her own storyline she had to be part of Finn and Hayden’s who are a snooze and this final exit storyline is forgettable….anyway, Leslie C. as Monica should get more screen time now but i doubt it!!!

    dmr replied

I agree, Jimh. I am not a fan of Finn or Hayden, at all. Way too much airtime is spent on trying to prop up Rebecca Budig. She just doesn’t fit in Port Charles, in my opinion.

    Patrick replied

“Thank You” JimH and @dmr. i’m not saying SOD is the bible… just saying that “respected’ reviews resonate.

the very word that is spoken… “Isolated” pairing

isolated… what’s the point in building Finn and Hayden when they do not interact with anyone on the canvass.

case in point.. what an insult to Jane Elliott.. when she is propped to feature characters who are not resonating… Finn and Hayden are DOA. dead on arrival… what’s the point in featuring this pair?

JE did this with Sabrina… I admit that. JE did this with nuLULU. JE even did this with, Luke. I will fire away with this . I’m certain with no storyline.. this was her catalyst

if GH was not going to build on the Quartermainia… farewell… to the best

so what does GH do ? with Finn and Hayden?

Finn is a functioning addict. EXPLETIVE. who no longer cares… who gives a rats ass. so effing what. after Tracy is gone.. what’s his connection? Brad ? who’s been the best part of his presence on this show. Hayden can forgive him time and again.. dismal.. and a lost cause. this pairing has been spared for too long. what’s the point. ? because they are VETS ? because they are .. what? fan favorites ? I don’t get it. waste of time money and at the expense of fired actors who belong.

    Patricio replied

    Great post Haskel!

I do hope this gives more airtime to the beloved Leslie Charleston. Who apparently is the last man standing. (From the 70s.). I wish her luck but I don’t know that she has the stamina for s front burner story line.

Like many of the people here, I was a child when Jane came onto the GH canvas. I used to watch the show after school with my mom back in those days. It was such a fun time. The show was making history and setting records. My mother passed away a long time ago but her date of birth was May 4th. This episode is going to be bitter sweet for me for a few different reasons. I thank Jane and GH for the memories.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your Mother. Mine too passed away at way to young of an age (My mom was 49 years old when she passed away). It was her, too, that first introduced me to General Hospital, back when I was about probably twelve (12) years old, or so (I happen to be about 4 months away from turning 25 years old — as we here speak). My very first episode I saw with her was a pretty epic one. It was back when the character of Carly Corinthos (THEN played / portrayed by actress Tamara Braun) walked into her own funeral, alive and well. I then over the years to follow remember secretly comparing my Mom and Dad’s complicated relationship / marriage …to the characters of Carly and Sonny.

I first saw Jane on an ABC soap called “Flame in the Wind.” Since then, I’ve seen all roles on all the shows she has graced. One word: Icon!

They don’t make characters like Tracy Quartermaine anymore. Jane Elliot has always been the consummate professional, bringing her best to whatever she does, whether she was in a featured storyline or in the background. It’s amazing to me that she only has one Emmy win to her credit. But if there’s a reason, it’s because she hasn’t submitted her name many years, because she’s a classy lady that doesn’t believe in competition among peers.

Unquestionably, one of the all-time greats in soap opera history. It’s sad to see another stalwart from GH’s glorious, rich history going away. There aren’t many of them left. Particularly another member of The Quartermaine family, who were the pillars of GH for many years. But I respect Jane for making the decision to leave on her own, going out on her own terms, rather than being forced out because of someone else’s decision.

Thank you, Jane! It’s been a pleasure watching you for all of these years. Best to you in whatever your future holds. And please don’t stay away forever, hope to see you drop by from time to time.

    Great episode!

I was so moved by the events over at the Q’s and in some cases it felt like Wally, Leslie, and Genie were saying goodbye to Jane (vice versa) cause there were watery eyes in all four of them even before Tracy told everyone she was leaving. Very special moment!

Wow! What an emotional powerful cliffhanger! Tracy telling everyone in the room that “she loves them and will hold all of them in her heart” and then revealing that she is leaving was the ultimate bittersweet moment. I was so happy for Tracy when she firmly said to everyone “I’m finally at peace with myself” cause it just may be the first time she can say that. She is getting to leave town on her own terms on a high note with her family, unlike all the times in the past when she left the family in disgrace, shame, or heartbreak. The lovely combination of the painting and letter from Edward was the greatest gift Tracy could receive cause it removes all that baggage that she’s carried around for decades. Tracy stated to everyone perfectly that her relationship with Edward was never simple but the words that she read has set her free. Very well stated. However, I am saddened to realize one of my five favorite female characters in GH history, and one of the most entertaining scheming memorable bad girls will be leaving Port Charles for good. I love that my girl Tracy has finally found her tranquility, but it won’t stop the viewers from wiping away the tears when she exits. LOVE TRACY! LOVE JANE!

YES! Ned is changing his last name to Quartermaine!

What a incredible unexcepted surprise and what a heartwarming tearjerker moment! Ned’s speech was just so beautiful in explaining his own reasons and the legacy of carrying on the family name! I honestly thought that the opening scene would be about him adopting Leo, but this was so much better with him making a uplifting tribute to his Q legacy with a salute to Tracy and Edward. I was fighting back the waterworks and got choked up when Ned said to Tracy “that’s okay with you?” and she said back that “nothing would make me happier” and then a tearful poignant embrace was shared between mother and son. Jane and Wally are just magic together and had another feelgood onscreen moment. This is great! Olivia and Leo can also take on the Q last name, and Ned is primed more than ever to be the new face, leader, and patriarch of the family! Hooray!

it seems my word choice is “marvel” there’s no way to “quantify” what makes Jane Elliott. every facet of her being has graced our screen in one form or another

“Thank You” Ms. Elliot. heartfelt sincerity from your audience.

it seems like the last real story… Tracy had… was when that “Plague” or whatever it was… was affecting all of Port Charles…. ( if you look on YouTube ) it was in September, of 2012. where Edward gave Emma his cure/antidote. whereupon , Edward soon dies… and however this played out… I distinctively know… that Tracy spoke the very words ( my heart is waiting for ) that she would wait the rest of her life, for LOVE.

which brings me to. why oh why did TPTB make the horrible decision to kill of Joe Scully, Jr. as played by the wonderful uber sexy Richard Steinmetz. any one wants to talk about chemistry… off the charts appeal. I’d never before seen Jane Elliot as Tracy in this light. I was floored. this is the love she is talking about.

so.. for me… this is the exit I wish

watching Tracy and Laura go back and forth… if it turns out this is Laura befriending Tracy before Tracy and Luke walk off in to the sunset. so be it. heck

Quartermainia… will outlive this genre. what sterling characters… what pluses to still have Monica, Ned, and Dillon. Wheres Alice ?

Sorry…..I thought this was the tribute page for The Duke of Edinburgh, aka, Prince Philip!!!! No matter….GH’s Tracy Quartermaine is Port Charles’ closest claim to its own dynastic ruler, and as such, her touching and unforgettable swansong to friends and family as the “Princess Royal” of the Q clan was handled with all the aristocratic aplomb, regal bearing and classy proclamations worthy of any of the world’s great monarchies. Whilst she passed the torch of responsibility for preserving and protecting the family legacy to the next generation of Q’s, “Tracy Angelica” held court not only for her nearest and dearest, but all her loyal subjects who had adored and supported her through her lengthy reign as one of daytime’s most enduring and beloved drama queens. As we bade a deeply bittersweet farewell to this most formidable of Quartermaines, as well as her incomparable portrayer, Jane Eliot, it really did feel as though we were losing a precious part of our own pasts, which was probably not unlike the emotions experienced by the British people this very morning with the historic announcement of their distinguished and dutiful Duke’s pending departure to private life. Hence to all “three” I say, bravo on a job well done and may you enjoy your most richly-deserved retirements!!!! God Bless!
