31 March 2nd, 2013 Is Richard Simmons Returning To General Hospital For The Nurses’ Ball?

Courtesy/RSimmonsfacebook

80′s exercise guru Richard Simmons just may be headed back to General Hospital for the 50th Anniversary celebration as part of the Nurses’ Ball.  Will Simmons get all the attendees on their feet and lead them in a makeshift aerobics class?

Today, Richard posted to his facebook page and image of himself wearing a very special purple warm-up jacket with a statement that teases, “I’m sending you a big smile. I have a secret and you’ll know soon.”

As long time GH fans know, Simmons would lead the hospital staffers and the town of Port Charles in some aerobic classes to blow of steam and to lose some weight and stay in shape! Of course, there were many scenes between the women in the class, that were bitchy or funny!

Watch this retro GH clip after the jump from 1982 when Lesley Webber (Denise Alexander) leads an aerobics class for her friends with the help of Simmons!

What a blast from the past this would be if Simmons participates in the big anniversary bash! What do you think of Simmons relating he may be back for the Nurses’ Ball?

Richard and any GH vet would be warmly welcome back for the shows 50th. Its like a family reunion and it woulnt feel like a reunion without any of them. Hope those who are there talk about those, with flashbacks, who unfortunately couldnt be there and those who are no longer with us. Any reunion i attend is usually like that. How many i miss. I also miss nurses in those white uniforms. Today i can barely tell a nurse apart from a lab techician or even a patient. Anne, Leslie, CLaudia, Brian, Joe, Tiffany, Sean, Jeff, Terri(Jeffs sis)Rose, and as far back as Angie Costello from 1963, ect. would be nice to see on the shows 50th. And i dont feel thats asking too much. Also all the women looked fit in the video. How come the men werent included, there health shouldve been important too. Whatever happen to Heathers mom Alice Grant? I miss Lukes and Bobbis late Aunt Ruby and had always hoped she had turned out to be their biological mother.

I also wish Susan or even Diana could come back as ghosts to haunt Heather. And I wish they could bring back the two actresses who played Heather b4 Robin M. and have current Heather in mental hospital with each of them as patients claiming to be the real Heather Webber.

Alice died of a heart attack in 1983. But the actress is alive. Angie Costello came back for the 30th and shared memories with Steve about him and Jessie. (That was the only mention of Jessie’s death).

Alice Grant was Rick & Lesley’s housekeeper. She was also the mother of GH’s very own current day psycho – Heather Grant-Baker-Webber. Alice died of an aneurism in 1983. Dan Rooney was the hospital administrator. Mr. practical. One of those supporting roles that grounded the show to a certain level of reality. LOL. He had romantic involvements with nurse Jessie Brewer & Ruby Anderson. Not sure when he left the show. As for watching the episode that follows this one: You can visit my YT channel for the next group of footage I have, but just forewarning, most of my material is edited to the Webbers. I do have some full episodes, and there are many other posters in youtube land who cover their favorites from the golden years. Here’s the link to the clip that follows this one on my channel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ik9W6aAIKHo&list=PL52F0C2512D5EA6C8&index=55
    Enjoy! :)

WOW! I feel honored! This is actually my video that I posted on YT… I think it would be great to see Richard Simmons come back and help Lucy & Sabrina with the nurses ball 2013. Richard & Lynn Herring together would be a hoot. Now – the BIG question is… WHY hasn’t Denise Alexander (Lesley Webber) been announced as a returnee??? After Rachael Ames (Audrey Hardy), Denise holds the record for tenure on the show in a reoccurring role – 40 years people!!! Laura’s back — trying to decide which X-hubby to choose, and LuLu’s having a baby (sort of)… There’s no way that Grandma wouldn’t show up and put her two cents into the mix. I stopped watching GH cold turkey.. 29 yrs ago when they killed Lesley off with little regard, and only recently started watching again on line. I hope the writers & producers don’t disappoint by leaving Denise out of this full circle celebration. It would be so WRONG!

Agree… Life situations can cause a previous cast member to decline gracefully. I respect that. Buy Denise has done mutiple radio interviews over the past several weeks for her current role in the web series “The Inn” and she has come right out and said that she would love ot be a part of the reunion but had not yet been approached…

Mr. Simmons looks ill here awfully thin almot too thin. Back in the 90′s I owned a business in a shopping mall and he was there doing his exercise thing he seemed to be very sincere helping people with weight problems. Holding some kinda of convention in the middle of our mall I just remember looking out the door of the shop trying to figure out what all the fuss was about. He did pull in the crowds.

It’s great to see them recognize Richard for the 50th, but I too heard the interviews as of a couple of weeks ago Denise hadn’t been asked!!! Are you kidding me? The show was a hair’s breath of being canceled in ’79 and Gloria Monty is rightfully given credit for changing the look of daytime TV, BUT it was the break up of Rick and Lesley and Alan and Monica that brought it to number 1, BEFORE the pairing of Luke and Laura. For her tenure at GH as well as Days of Our Lives and Another World for that matter, Denise Alexander repeatedly won the top ten in popularity polls for the soap mags of the day and the audience overwhelmingly wanted Rick and Lesley back together. To not ask a soap legend back for the 50th anniversary would be such a travesty!
