17 March 29th, 2011 Is Susan Haskell out at One Life to Live?

© JPI Studios

We Love Soaps is reporting this afternoon that two-time Daytime Emmy Award winning actress, Susan Haskell (Marty Saybrooke) has been let-go by One Life to Live. If ABC and OLTL confirm this, it would make sense since Susan’s character has been written into a bit of a corner, with seemingly nowhere to go, and a somewhat murky vision of the direction of Marty.

On a side note: This is a shame… as Haskell is one of the most talented actresses in the genre today.  Stay tuned for further details in the coming days.

Jarty? Seriously? Ugghh!! They were voted in the top 5 of all of television’s most boring couples. Thank god that is FINALLY OVER. 3 years of that snoozefest was long enough!!

SUCH a shame they did that to Marty. Susan is hella talented, and I wish her the best of luck. Truly is OLTL’s loss.

Sidenote, I guess that means we’re not going TK as Patrick returning any time soon aye?

I’m not surprised at all because Marty truly has been written into a corner. After Cole went to prison, it seemed like Marty was being transformed back into the troublemaker she was when she was first introduced in the early ’90s, which would have been great because Susan Haskell hasn’t had much to do. Unfortunately, that came to a screeching halt in January when the writers decided to have her lose touch with reality, which was totally unbelievable and completely out of character. The strength that had always been lingering behind Marty’s vulnerability has been absent since her breakdown. She’s become pathetic and vindictive and just a plot device to be changed and manipulated for the sake of the story. An actress with Susan Haskell’s talent deserves so much better.

Bad move for OLTL, if its true. Because there are a lot of stuff they can do with Marty, like being with her grandchild, for one.

This has got to be the worst discussion OLTL PTB have made in a long time. BIG mistake. Susan is a very talented actress- 2 time emmy winner, Can’t believe the writers could not find a story for her character Marty. I am not happy! I guess OLTL will have one less viewer.

Although I love Susan as an actress, the news doesn’t suprise me. Her character has NO ties to the canvas anymore, and she has been written into a corner. I enjoyed her rivalry with Natalie, but even that’s played out. She has become the” Lindsay” in the Bo/Nora storyline back in the day,
I am hoping that this exit will lead to my Jolie getting back together. For good this time!!

I hope that John/Natalie don’t get back together. That pairing is just about as fun as watching paint dry.

OLTL– Another stupid mistake!!!! This is not what the fans want! We want good actors, who can portray good characters and that is what Haskell does! What do we get to keep? The Ford brothers! Enuf !!!!

Depressing, just depressing.TPTB at OLTL have missed the mark by letting Susan Haskell go,what with the confirmed news that Roger Howarth is returning to the show ( I’m sure it has to be as the REAL Todd)…and if that’s the case -it’s even more of a shame to be denied a TRUE Marty /Todd rematch. And for God’s sake I wouldn’t want them romantically involved – I can’t even picture the two of together.
But they DO have a history AND a future via their grandchild Hope.
Couldn’t you just see the two of them warring over her and vying for her affections.
I just feel there are opportunities for more story for these two characters portrayed as ONLY these two phenomenal actors can.
I would like to see the writers commence The Tale of Two Todds story, put Marty back into St.Anne’s while they write a storyline for her and bring her back in the Fall.
If the TPTB don’t make the most of this opportunity to have Susan and Roger share the screen again -MANY of us are going to feel SO CHEATED. :(

That was so messed up to get rid of Susan.I thought her and Brody would make a good couple .Could fall inlove on that show and make some good story lines.I loved the story lines with her and patrick. They really threw her storyline to the corner and tried to make her out like a terrible actress.Knowing she is one of the best actress on that show.alot could of been done with her storyline. Its ashame that one life to live is going to be no longer. They are making a big mistake.

It was really messed up on how the writers treated Marty. I wish they would had let her be with John and let her be happy. She deserved happiness after all the stuff she had been through. We all know the writers favourite is “Natalie” *gags* I used to like Natalie when she first came on the show and was paired with Cris. She was my favourite back then but I feel her character was ruined when they started pairing her with John. She became a totally different person when she was with him. She didn’t care much about what was going on with her family All she cared about was being with him. I feel they had no chemistry whatsoever. Watching paint dry is more fun watching. Her character was starting get good again when they paired her with Jared but no the writers had to go and ruin that and have her interested in John again. >.< She really didn't morn Jared for very long at all. She got over him way too fast in my opinion. According to the writers and her rabid fans she is practically perfect in every way. I hope Jessica gives Natalie her just deserts someday soon.

I forgot to add this. Natalie seems like she is the new Tina. They act the same way. They always land up messing up in someway.
