Fans of the new episode of the On-Air On-Soaps Podcast released this past Saturday got a kick out off our staple segment, Carolyn’s Soap Thought of the Day, where actress and co-host, Carolyn Hennesy recites her opinions and delivers some hilarious zingers to the listening audience.
In her latest “Soap Thought”, Carolyn compared and contrasted HBO’s True Blood (in which she now appears) to General Hospital (where she had played Diane Miller). We decided this was to funny not to post the content of the segment so you could read it as well. Check it out below and see if you would agree!
Is True Blood actually General Hospital? Compare and contrast.
Both have the most gorgeous main cast of any show currently filming.
Both have many intertwining storylines going on at the same time, involving psychopaths, police officers, restaurant shenanigans, well decorated private homes, individuals who have great wealth but no actual job, and someone having sex with their best friend’s girl or boyfriend.
Both take place in a fictional town less than one hundred miles from a major U.S. city.
Both have characters who draw blood.
Both have a character with some type of brain quirk: Sookie Stackhouse can read other people’s thoughts; Jason Morgan was hit by a car and turned into a robot.
Both have a character who has a dual personality: GH has Kate Howard and TB has Lafayette Reynolds (when possessed by Marnie, Tio Luco or anyone else.)
Both have a character who can shape-shift into lesser creatures: Sam Merlotte from human being into anything he pleases and Diane Miller from smart, sassy attorney into gossip columnist.
Both have a dark-haired, dark-eyed incredibly handsome leading man who is of slightly smaller stature than impossibly handsome Alexander Skarsgard.
Both have a leading lady who gets herself involved with two or more leading men in quick succession. And that same leading lady is a perfectly proportioned blonde whose character gets everyone into trouble just by walking into a room or opening her mouth.
AND, you never see these two ladies in the same place at the same time, which leads me to the logical conclusion that Anna Paquin and Laura Wright are the same person. In point of fact, you never see Sean Blakemore and Nelsan Ellis together in the same room. Nor do you see Maurice Benard and Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgard and Ingo Rademacher, OR Sam Trammel and Bradford Anderson.
Therefore, with so much the same, I conclude that there is nothing to contrast and I posit that General Hospital actually is True Blood which is why, even though Diane Miller’s time in Port Charles has been negligible of late, I should STILL be drawing a GH salary.”
