Around the internet today is not only a bloody image of James Franco with GH’s Steve Burton from E! Online , in regards to the Oscar nominated actors upcoming reappearance on the ABC sudser, but now comes word that Franco can’t make time for his scheduled Broadway debut this fall in Sweet Bird of Youth!

According to the Huffington Post, “Franco’s Publicist Robin Baum confirmed Tuesday that the workaholic actor has dropped out of a planned production of the steamy Tennessee Williams play Sweet Bird of Youth. It was to mark Franco’s Broadway debut and would have created one of the hottest tickets of the season because he was to be paired with Nicole Kidman, who is still on board. The play tells the story of an aging actress and the gigolo paramour who uses her as he tries to help her get back into movies.”

Franco, last seen in Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Your Highness, is still shooting the film Oz, appearing on General Hospital and earning a doctorate in English at Yale.   Note to James:  SLOW DOWN…just for a bit!

It doesn’t seem James is so bright after all. Backing out of a Broadway debut with Nicole Kidman in a Tennessee Williams play?! What would have been more important than this–General Hospital? Yale doesn’t have leave of absences for Broadway debuts? Not an intelligent career move, especially after the lackluster performance as Academy Award show host. Makes me wonder if Franco was intimidated by Kidman or didn’t think he could hold his own with her.
