General Hospital’s recurring guest star, actor, James Franco received his much anticipated Best Actor Nomination in a Leading Role for his role in the feature film 127 Hours for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards this morning. Nominations were announced live on television across the world at 8:30AMEST/5:30AMPST.
Franco will face-off with current odds-on favorite, Colin Firth for The King’s Speech, last year’s Best Actor Oscar winner, Jeff Bridges for True Grit, Jesse Eisenberg of The Social Network and surprise nominee, Javier Bardem for the Foreign Language film, Biutifil. The actor reacted to his nomination according to the L.A. times Envelope.com this morning as he was about to walk into class stating: “I’m standing on the corner in New Haven, about to go into a class on the poets Byron, Keats and Shelley.”
The Oscars will be handed out on February 27thon ABC with now nominee Franco, as previously announced also co-hosting Hollywood’s biggest night with actress, Anne Hathaway. And for soap fans, don’t forget, James will return as psycho/baddie “Franco” for two new episodes of General Hospital the day before and after this year’s Oscar Telecast.
