208 March 8th, 2017 Jane Elliot To Exit General Hospital!

Courtesy/ABC

For quite some time now fans of General Hospital have heard the rumblings that Jane Elliot was preparing to walk away from her beloved role as Tracy Quartermaine.

Since bursting on to the GH scene back in 1978 and then leaving and returning, following a string of other memorable primetime and daytime roles, Elliot has left an indelible mark that will never be forgotten in our genre. Now comes word via Daytime Confidential that Jane has informed ABC and the General Hospital executives that she plans on departing the show at the end of her contract this spring.

Right now, Elliot has been in major story with Michael Easton’s Finn and Rebecca Budig’s Hayden, and is always embroiled in the Quartermaine family drama.  With Jane’s departure it would sure seem to signal a major end of an era for the Q Clan.

So, if this holds true and Jane leaves, how do you think Tracy should exit the canvas?  Will you be devastated by her departure? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

Would be sad to see her go now that she has just begun to make up for all the
“crazy” years she was written, not as the strong-willed, forceful Tracy that she always had been, but as a weak vessel falling at the feet of “Fluke,” that incomprehensible character!

Great idea, Jenny…..Love Anna Stuart ( Greelee’s mom and Vicki’s–AW).
I don’t want Jane to leave, but if she must, then Anna is a great choice. What would be the reason for Tracy to up and leave? There are already so many loose ends as it is…..a recast would be the way to go.
The irony would kick me in the rear if, Anna, as Tracy, would turn out to be Hayden’s bio mom and not Naomi. Together again?
Now, all we need is for Walt Willy to show up as Dr. Webber, Hayden’s and Lizzie’s father.

    Shay replied

You mean Dr. Gina Dante…..as Anna Stuart was once known in the Port Charles sphere. Been there, done that, as far as this actress is concerned!

There are some roles that cannot be recast. Tracy Quartermaine is definitely one.

    Rhonda replied

I agree that Jane is not replaceable. However, the Q’s are on the endangered species list.
Bring in Robin Strasser and/or Erika Slezak as some long lost Q relative.
Then maybe Melissa Archer as someone’s daughter, also a long lost Q relative. Failing that bring back Skye Quartermaine.
Before someone screams that the cast is too bloated, I need to remind them that the Q’s are rapidly disappearing. Let us beef up the Q mansion!

    Celia replied

You are so right, Steve. Some characters/roles are too memorable to replace.
But, I echo what Rhonda has said. It makes sense to recast.

    rebecca1 replied

Hi Rhonda…Robin and/or Erika would be perfect to pick up the slack. GH really needs to revamp its Q family; Ned should be a constant (always loved him), more Dillon (love him, too), Jason should return to his Q roots and bring in Sam and kids, Michael should be at the house more, Monica needs to be the grand dame of the house now and Skye Quartermaine should have returned for AJ’s funeral!!!! and should return now.

Personally, I could do without Melissa Archer. Never took to Natalie…

Robin Strasser and Erika? They’d fit right into the canvas. I do believe Robin’s been starving for work ever since the demise of OLTL and would welcome a return to daytime; not so sure Erika would be into another contract. But she could somehow be incorporated.

    Losing Tracy is a biggie… ;)

She’s irreplaceable! Iconic role and actress that cannot be ever replaced! I hope she strolls off into the proverbial sunset with Luke….her one true love!

I hope Jane will consider returning for short cameos on important occasions. It’s time the Q’s repopulated with the younger generation anyway. They are all there – Tracy’s kids and Alan’s remaining son. As much as they want to get away from it, it’s time Jason, Ned & Dylan do their bit to bolster the family name. Was a poor decision to make the next generation such slackers when it comes to business.

My ideas – ELQ needs to buy Crimson, and put Nina & Dylan firmly in the circle of the Crazy Quartermaines. Lila’s little namesake needs to return with Skye – even if she’s not technically a Q by blood. With Michael & Ned running ELQ, Skye could come on to take a place on the hospital board. And, with her background, Griffin would finally get off Sonny’s back and find another reclamation project. Ned needs to marry Olivia because she would finally give the Q’s something they’ve been lacking – a REAL Italian Thanksgiving, with the best pizza they’ve ever tasted.

It’s difficult to find something for Jason to do because he isn’t the corporate type. Security/risk management for ELQ’s holdings? Or, maybe he can join Sam in her PI firm with Curtis.

Well I did mean while she was happy with the character. But to be honest the whole of the ship that was once daytime sunk with the end of world turns/guiding light and abc’s double cancellation. Jane Elliot isn’t on a sinking ship..she’s clinging to a piece of floating drift wood like Days cast. The once tall mighty ship that sailed across three channels of called daytime drama is now lying in a ship graveyard. Oh how morbid I am hee hee.

    rebecca1 replied

Nice visuals…imagery. Howeva…I only partially agree! Canceling so many soaps was the beginning of the end for the genre…and the abrupt cancellation of AMC (which I hadn’t watched in centuries, ahem…and my beloved OLTL was cruel and shocking. Cruel, because it came without warning and ripped a piece of history and continuity out from under viewers who watched for years.

But I must say I honestly think GH has been great lately. I think Jane’s leaving when the show is at its best it’s been in a long time. Still, that has nothing to do with it. She’s been said to have considered retiring for quite a while. And I do think she was even more motivated when Geary left. Same age group…same shared history. Gave her that extra umph she needed to actually do it. Sucks though…

  10. Patricio says:

I remember this phenomenal, uniquely beautiful actress steal every scene she was in back in the 1970s. She came and went from General Hospital but she made the soap opera villain a multi dimensional character. One that we loved to hate and we hated to love.

    Eileen H Hargis replied

Jane said she was retiring and why. A fan said make her stay. I simply commented it was the actress’s choice and why badger her. You cant understand that??I merely replied to a fan. No combat motive there. Its just silly to wish someone didnt feel the way they do.

    Rhonda replied

Yeah, but Eileen, you to tend to shout down fans about how they feel, this is not the first time. This seems to be a pattern with you.

  12. Steve says:

To not distract from Jane during her exit, if it is deemed that Mr. Geary return, let it only be for one episode.

An alternative “happy” ending has Larry Ashton returning for Ned’s wedding to Olivia F. Larry tells Tracy she’s the only woman he’s ever loved and legitimately has come into millions on dollars — her turn to live off him. Regardless, I hope Hugo Napier returns for at least one more scene of bickering.

When Tracy leaves, Who’ll remind Monica that Alan gave her that house (because he was an idiot).

Really sad to hear this, but it wasn’t unexpected. Jane has come and gone many times over the years. I’m actually surprised she stuck around for 14 years on this go around. Loved all the stuff she did with Tony Geary. But other than the storyline where she got sick last year, they really haven’t had a lot for her to do since Tony left.

She’s one of the all-time soap icons and will definitely be missed. It’s sad to see how the once mighty and powerful Quartermaines have slowly dwindled down to almost nothing. But such is life, nothing lasts forever. Hope they give her a nice send off. And of course leave the door open for her to return.

Thanks for many years of entertainment, Jane! You’ve been a pleasure to watch.

In my opinion Douglas Marland was the best head writer GL has ever had and Guiding Light won 2 emmys for best writing and show during Douglas time on GL..I don’t blame Jane Elliott for leaving for she was kind enough to give us all these years of her talent. Wishing you nothing but the best Jane and enjoy your free time.

Maybe she should return to “Days” as Anjelica – it might help that currently terribly written show and other people her character was involved with (Justin, Adrienne, Victor) are still on the canvas. The only one on there I TRULY enjoy now is Meredith Scott Lynn as nosy, fun Anne Millbauer.

Surprised she’s hung around this long. The writers at “General Hospital” have never been the least bit interested in re-invigorating the Quartermaine clan. Losing Alan and Edward was devastating, and bringing in Dylan and Ned part-time just didn’t cut it. Jane needs to leave and let the Quartermaines die with her. Another reason to jump ship from this mob-steered Titanic.

    Reply

    Michael (not Fairman) replied

Don’t know if it’s the writers or the brass at ABC who have not been interested in re-invigorating the Quartermaines (given that this lack of interest has continued across numerous writing and producing teams, I would guess it’s ABC), but it’s certainly been a mistake, as has the continuing mob domination (which I also think comes from higher up).

As other people have said, this departure is not a big surprise–but what a loss for the show!

Maybe they’ll put Leslie Charleson back on contract (assuming she’s interested).

I do hope they bring in some of the other Q characters with the same actors/actresses playing the roles. No one can replace or fill the void, but seeing more Q’s in PC would certainly soften the blow.

    Reply

  36. Steve says:

For those mentioning recast, it’s not an option. You can’t replace an actress who’s played the role (off and on) for almost 40 years! Regardless of who you brought in, viewers would never accept the new actress. Both Anna & Felicia were temporarily recast years ago and the newbies were quickly shuffled off.

And as for Robin Strasser, although she didn’t originate the role of Dorian, OLTL recast her for 3 years in the early 90s. Elaine Princi was a fine actress, but never really Dorian. Would Strasser be a good (temporary) addition to GH? – probably, but never as Tracy

    Reply

    Llanviewer717 replied

I agree with you Steve. I absolutely remember when OLTL recast Dorian in the 90s. Ms. Princi never caught on with the fans because Robin Strasser so totally inhabits Dorian. Jane Elliot totally inhabits Tracy Quatermaine.

    Reply

    Michael (not Fairman) replied

And yet Robin Strasser wasn’t even the original Dorian; there were two actresses who played Dorian before her (and the original actress, Nancy Pinkerton, definitely had a strong presence and put her mark on the role). So it’s possible, sometimes, for a recast to capture the viewers’ hearts and imaginations and become the definitive performer in a role, even if the role is strongly identified with another performer.

That said, I agree that Tracy is un-recastable. They should not try it, even with someone of Strasser’s talent. It would be a mistake.

CeeCee…Not sure if you know this but though I never watched Days I read that Jane and Wally really did play lovers on that show!

Elliot portrayed Anjelica Deveraux on Days of Our Lives from 1987 to 1989; her character has an affair with the much younger Justin Kiriakis (played by Wally Kurth).

That’s why I responded that after seeing them as mother and son on GH the thought of that freaks me out!

    4ever DAYS replied

Now I know you didn’t know, Celia, thanks to rebecca 1, but I was still being humorous knowing the full story.

Jane played Anjelica Deveraux who was Jack’s stepmother. Jack was really Billie Johnson who’s brother and sister are Steve and Adrienne.. Harper Deveraux and his wife had adopted Billie and named him Jack, but soon afterwards, Jack’s adopted mother died, then Harper married Anjelica.

Adrienne came to Salem looking for Steve and Billie. She sent for Jo (biological mother of all three). They were first reunited with Steve who grew up in an orphanage where he was forced to let go of his baby brother, Billie. They only wanted the baby and not his older mean brother. Adrienne was born after Jo gave the brothers up.

Eventually, they all realized Jack was Billie and they all were reunited, but Jack was already spoiled by the good life. He was a Deveraux! The Johnsons were TRASH as Anjelica would say.

Duke Johnson was Jo’s abusive husband and child abuser and ultimately raped his own daughter, Adrienne, after the family reunited minus Billie Jack.

Anjelica had sooooo much fun with all that. She not only kept Jack away from his family, but she went after Adrienne’s man. Justin’s oldest son’s mother is Anjelica.

If there was a silver lining to all of it, Anjelica realized she had been married to a serial killer referred to as The Riverfront Knifer. So, Jack had two crazy fathers!!

Interesting footnote: Jane originated the role of Anjelica, but the actress that plays Gloria on Y&R last played Anjelica.

Also, Jane starred on GH before DAYS, but Wally Kurth starred on DAYS before GH. The duo were first together on DAYS.

    rebecca1 replied

Oh my gawd…I just tried to follow that synopsis and am completely confused!!! That was the epitome of the stereotypical parody when describing a soap. Yikes!

    rebecca1 replied

Hahaha…CeeCee. It wasn’t 4ever’s fault…the story was just so convoluted that my brain froze about halfway in!

    Celia replied

Thank you, so much, for the backstory, 4ever. I was a baby in ’87-”88, LOL. I am, more or less, well-versed in Days, but, I must confess, my grandmother never mentioned this story. I guess I didn’t ask the right questions? LOL.
Keep on posting, my friend. you know how much I enjoy your writing and humor.

It’s glaring and a huge loss only, because they’ve fired or not put on contract a number of other Classic GH vets so there really is not a lot going on with the core families–how do you bring their kids into the forefront eventually if their parents aren’t around to introduce them and groom them with front burner stories like Days, B&B and Y&R.

Once Finola Hughes is gone, I likely won’t tune in ever again. The other Classic vets aren’t given enough to do to warrant it.

They should be grooming Maxie, Griffin, Michael, Dillon, Dante, Lulu, Lucas, Valerie, Molly (and maybe Jordan too) to take on leading some of the bigger stories. Elizabeth is front and center but with Franco as her leading man, it’s a joke to a majority of the audience. Carly and Sonny, especially Sonny, have had their day in the limelight and the audience is tired of them. Jason hopefully can get a second wind but I don’t know.

What’s going to happen to Hayden and Finn once Tracy is gone? Will they remain interesting?

Why is there no Ned or Duke?

With her leaving, and having been the rock of the Quartermain family for some time, there’s honestly not going to be much left of a strong key family left. Michael’s too young, Ned hasn’t been put in key storylines and Jason is Jason so Sam and family is his focus. GH writers best bring the Buchanans into town to put down roots. Nora’s already there, let’s hope she gets a recurring role and brings Clint and the boys in!

Jane has always been a treat to watch. As with Kin Shriner’s Scotty, you just enjoy the heck out of their scenes, even when there’s not much to play off of. It’s a real tribute to her ability to make the material entertaining and compelling–great range. I can honestly say that I never fast forwarded through any of her scenes, as her performances (regardless of the material she was asked to deliver) were always worthy. There’s no doubt in my mind that she made those around her better–your “A” game was always required when sharing the screen with Jane.

Way too early to contemplate a recast. Yes, it’s been done before with other beloved characters (kudos to Billy Miller, but I’m still not feeling it). As with Kin, Finola, Genie, et al, give them some time off canvas and maybe they recharge, or perhaps we can entice them back with a juicy storyline. Or maybe Jane will be gracious enough to reprise her role every so often to maintain story continuity. We’ll take what we can get!

@Pat D….Whenever one reads of such decisions by a GH legacy player, that is, unfortunately, the first thing that comes to mind….I opined much the same about Anthony Geary, although his many demands and scheduled vacations were most likely far beyond anything that Jane ever requested, despite being equally well-deserved. I can understand the need to keep the budget in check, but there are too many times when the savings from cutting favorite traditional characters seem to go toward bringing on big names from other soaps, and this practice has been—and continues to be—-an utter failure, as far as I’m concerned.

First ABC needs to fire Valenti and JELLY if they want to stay in the soap business. Then they need to hire someone who has a passion for the soap and is a fan of the history. They did it over at Y&R and they were #1! They listened to the fans and made great changes! They have the Newmans and the Abbotts, front and center. BINGO! At GH, they need to have the Q’s and the Cassadines. Sonny should be DONE!

    The Quartermaines:

I would have Bobbi live there with Monica.

    Ned and Olivia and Leo

Kiki and Dylan [Recast him please!]

ERASE AJ’s death and bring back Sean. Michael moves in. [Recasted]

    Brooklyn and Griffin

    Larry Ashford

Build some real office setting sets for ELQ!

By now, this aforementioned pair should have children, even grandkids….bring ‘em on! And please, no more Nina (or Hayden either, for that matter….)…they have no business being anywhere near these legacy characters regardless of the massive revisionism which has been employed as an attempt to shoehorn them into the Port Charles canvas!

How in the freak is that working out? Frank wants his OLTLers and the writers don’t even remember the beautiful Celia.

    Shay replied

“GET ‘EM OUT OF (T)HERE, indeed, Timmmbo! Time to drain that GH swamp! (Or more precisely the leftover OLTL one…..) I realize that Jimmy Lee and Celia are of another long-lost era in Port Charles, but so was Olivia, and she is bringing it big time on today’s canvas! With the Q brood basically dwindling down to just Monica and her grandchildren plus Dillon and sometimes Ned, the family needs a shot in the arm whilst respecting the heritage of this legacy clan. During the ’80′s these two aforementioned characters loomed large in the scheme of all things Quartermaine, and now is the perfect opportunity to answer “whatever happened to?” these popular players.

The same idea goes for erasing AJ’s death and for Michael and him to be together again as father and son. ( stick it to Sonny and Carly).
No Nik Cassadine unless it’s Nick Stabile.

Hey CeeCeeGirl! I’m saying yes, Yes, YES to the Thaao!!!! He needs to come back to Port Charles and press Liesl on that duplicitous paternity deal that she felt compelled to “do away with” ala bullet! I know that means the writers will actually have to come up with some reasonably sane solution to “The Mysterious Case of Nathan’s Real Bio-Daddy,” but it’s about time, wouldn’t you say???? As for Celia, as in Quartermaine, she was (is?) a far-flung relative from the family tree of the GH clan, and was a beautiful brunette debutante whose presence loomed large during the “Ice Princess” storyline, since her fiance’ was the faux Dr. Grant Putnam who was in reality a Soviet agent out to retrieve said item…you’ve heard of him, right? Anyway, she arrived in town to wed her dashing doc (Sound familiar????) and met up with Jimmy Lee Holt, another illegitimate product of Edward’s loins. They had a combustible chemistry and became kissin’ (though distant…) cousins, then man and wife…though they apparently did not live happily ever. Haven’t seen hide nor hair of them since the ’80′s.

It’s like those proverbial children who didn’t get their ponies for Christmas and they still haven’t come to terms with it even though we are now entering spring. “Grow up,” indeed! We didn’t come here and incessantly bash BHO for his multitude of shortcomings over his eight long years in office…until the election threads, most of us didn’t make political comments at all. Apparently it is too much to expect that same courtesy from those now discontent with “our president.” Oh, and by the way, we can express our dislike for a character to our heart’s content…just as long as it’s not Alexis Davis…then there’s h#!! to pay!!!!

Most of the other shows ONLY have liberal acts appear. I thought CBS had more class but even their retired goat boy David Letterman rips Donald at every turn! I remember back in the classy days of TV, Johnny Carson was political and did political skits but they never were mean spirited. It was comical. Today there is so much hate I doubt most things that could actually be good for this country will not ever happen because of the haters. Its like a new, talented head football coach getting hired at a high school who will turn the program around BUT the kids will have to work harder, staying later at practice, studying the playbook at home and believing in what the new coach is saying. NO, the parents would complain that practice is too hard and the kids have no free time! And you said it, if you have an OPINION on Alexis or you attack Liz for dating a rapist, their fan bases will tear you a new azzhole! Who in the hell would leave Franco alone with their child? I’d rather see Jake with Helena!

    rebecca1 replied

Shay…you never expressed your dislike of “Alexis Davis.” Cut the crap. You expressed your as always judgmental air about her age….her inappropriate clothing for “her age”…her sexual activity “for her age” and went on and on ad nauseum about the actress reflecting the character…probably picking out her own GH wardrobe. You then went on your haughty high horse to give your “esteemed” comparison to who you deem worthy of respect and in your opinion “good taste, refinement, etc” by comparing her to other actresses her age or older. All you do is complain, criticize and critique and post here to garner praise and or support. And then there’s the “digs”…the on and on “digs”…you can’t seem to post without referring to posters who disagree with you. First, the height issue…then you rehash Alexis…LET IT GO!

Play nice…or don’t play. Enough stress in the real world…the fictional ones are supposed to be escapism. Leave your attitude at the door.

Thank you for the GH info. Also, I like Nelle.. i guess she’s still “Helle”, for you? LOL. I never really ‘not liked’ her……I am really starting to enjoy her scenes.
And, contrary to how many ( that means you, Shay. LOL) speak negatively of Nina, I do hope she and Nelle will develop and hone a solid friendship.
By the by, I got a certain vibe from Nina, as to her feelings for Lulu. I think she feels for her, as a mother. That would impress me, very much. I think she may be very guarded from Valentin. Luv you to! I love the actress that plays Nelle. She was great in the black and white episode and I’m glad they hired her. This character though frustrates me a bit and its on the writers, not the actress. Why though would Nina hire a girl who just slept with a womens husband? How could you go to work and trust her alone with Valentin?

    Shay replied

Your father is a wise man, CeeCeeGirl! And oh so right! My mother has often said as much to me throughout my life!….As for your mild little swipe at my extreme aversion to all things Nina?….LOL….Get used to it, mia amica….since my view of her is carved in stone! But we can certainly overlook this major difference of opinion…hey, it happens! At least we can agree upon Nelle…(Sorry ’bout that, Timmmbo!….)…although I don’t wish to see her aligned with you-know-who…I am hoping this new alliance shall be a most short-lived one!

    Celia replied

    @Timmm.
Sorry, it’s supposed to have read “sweep”, not swipe, LOL.
As far as Nina, Timmmy, hiring a girl with Nelle’s tainted reputation? Well, I have a couple of theories.
Nina could be sincere when she says everyone deserves a second chance….she should know, yes?
She could, also, be testing Valentin’s fidelity. I think Nina has a few reservations when it comes to her husband.
And, this is where I get stumped. Why marry a guy, or stay married to him, if there’s no trust? I would think she’d steer clear, considering she’s been hurt. Why place herself in a position of vulnerability? Again, the reason is Charlotte. I said this from the onset.
This is what endears me to Nina. She still has that aura of innocence; so inherently reserved for a child.
In a way, I see that in Nelle, too…..I don’t think she is as devious as her actions say she is. I bet she has no experience with men, either.
What a surprise if she were intimate with Michael and he finds her “untouched”….’heavy’ storyline, that.
Her act of revenge failed miserably. She should just spill the truth ( sleeping with Sonny never happened–a ruse), at least, to Michael, if she is truly sorry….it’s the only way to make amends.

I get that you have a major fangirl thing going for MS….after all, we each have our favorites, CeeCeeGirl! But you need to remember that unlike you, I never watched the flamboyant “Phyllis” of Y&R fame…my only exposure to this actress has been on GH, so given the underwhelming—and what I consider to be the highly intrusive—-nature of the Nina character and her less-than-scintillating effect upon the Port Charles canvas, I understandably have a far different view than yours when it comes to MS. However, I must add that you should never wish to be anybody other than yourself….you’re a sheer and total delight just as you are, mia amica!

Or supporters of this president, for that matter, Timmm! It’s unbelievable…and this website is merely a representative microcosm of real life. I cannot tell you how many stories I’ve heard of friends and families who couldn’t even celebrate a civil Thanksgiving or Christmas because of overly-unreasonable fallout from the election results…it’s patently absurd! I have been extremely fortunate in that I personally experienced only one instance of such behavior, and it came from the primary demographic I most blame for these prolonged immature, whiny vocal reactions: bitter broads of a certain age! They simply will not abide anyone else’s happiness over our new leader….miserable much???? But I do hear you about the late night cacophony of non-stop Trump-bashing…of course, as CeeCee and I recently discussed, I gave up on that particular tv genre long ago due to their extreme left political bent….once Letterman was an absolute laugh riot, always full of “p&v,” to be sure, and his original group of players from NYC like Calvert DeForest, Leonard Tepper, Rupert Jee, Surajul and Mujibar, etc. were a comical delight….however, when he began back in the mid-2000′s with his non-stop anti-Bush43 rants and rhetoric, that’s when I turned him off for good…it just wasn’t the proper place for such constantly uncalled-for commentary when all I sought out was some wacky entertainment in the overnight hours. After those subsequent stories about his deplorable, unsavory private conduct and immensely rude behavior even with his most loyal staff emerged, it made me all the happier I quit him. Jay Leno, despite being an obvious liberal, at least attempted to be a bit more even-handed with his quips, much like Carson did, but since his departure, I just don’t need all the highly unfunny business that has become late night viewing. As for criticizing characters here at MFSoaps? Yes, upon occasion, there has been a notably huge hue and cry when Liz is castigated for her sometimes unseemly behavior, often from a clearly organized block of RB’s committed fans…sobeit, I understand they love their Liz…it’s really nothing personal as far as you or I are concerned! However, it’s a far different situation when one (or a few of us….) are targeted and demonized simply for stating our opinions and critiques of specific characters by certain individuals who refuse to grasp the notion of graciously agreeing to disagree and instead aim their all-out efforts into an ongoing vendetta by taking to task just about anything we have to say on any subject. That’s simply unacceptable….

This girl I work with, she was so sure how the election turned out she would engage in deep, thoughtful conversations with me. The day after the election, she went to our boss and asked that I not interrupt her while she works. Un-freakin-believable! We are civil BUT nothing more than “Hello”, now. How in mature and close minded. BUT, that is a majority of these brats and burnouts now, they are fighting the country while Isis defeats the very people we all love!

Now onto Maurice Bernard. He is the Donald Trump of soaps. So many people dislike him and or all the mob stories. Its “General Hospital”, I understand but mobs have had a part in GH since the 70′s! I understand why people hate Sonny and his crimes that he has committed and his hypocritical stance he takes BUT Ava is no angel and fans just drool over Maura! So, that tells me its a Maurice issue. WHY? The guy can act. Yes he stumbles. He has a disease and he is medicated. I guess if he were in a wheelchair it might help? NO! The guy does his best. Of camera at these fan events, he couldnt be nicer. Its okay if you dont like Sonny. BUT, to me, the backlash that he gets from a lot of fans hurt his chances of being nominated! *I did see some support in the comments of the article listing the nominations. That was nice to see.

Thank you, Shaybelle. I was very young when I first laid eyes on Michelle Stafford. I was mesmerized. Other than my mother and grandmother, Michelle embodied everything a pubescent girl could aspire to be.
I think I’m over it, LOL. I’m pretty comfy within my own being and life. But, the admiration and ‘love’ for her remain.
You expressed the point I tried to make, Shay….that is, I was sooo familiar with Ms Stafford, for years, before she popped up at GH.
I was so sad when she left Y&R; so, you can imagine how elated I was when I heard she would be joining GH. I wanted to roll out the red carpet for her. LOL.

The Late Show ( Jay Leno) was my favorite. …did not much care for David Letterman. ….for my own reasons. He has a house on the Vineyard ( South Beach—where we, also, are). The man thinks he is God’s gift to the island. Ha! Humility goes a long way.
I did give Jimmy Fallon a chance. I sort of ‘got into his groove’ ( love his depictions of Jim Morrison, The Boss etc…too funny, you know, Morrison and the ‘sweat sock thing? LOL),
But, I cannot abide by the hypocrisy. I get that people dislike POTUS with a passion, but, Jimmy was one of his fans. I knew he liked The Donald, LOL.
Suddenly, the tides have turned…..Jimmy needs to go with the flow. God forbid anyone goes against the grain purported by Hollywood, or swim upstream with the salmon ( Trump supporters, LOL).
Believe it or not, I love soap vets. As a matter of fact, we watched an episode of Perry Mason, ” The Case of The Killer Kiss”, with so many adored soap stars: Linda Dano, Genie Francis, Stuart Damon, Sean Kanan, Christian Le Blanc, Karen Moncrieff, Arleen Sorkin and Michael Tylo. I was not familiar with the others.
I watched so many past soap episodes—aquainted myself with many of these characters. Surprisingly enough, I remember them as a little girl, watching soaps with Gran.
The following episode was, also, filmed in 1993, with Eric Braeden, and a bunch of real-life super models, whom I did not recognize, except for Kathy Ireland, ” The Case of The Wicked Wives”. LOL.
Paul Sorvino starred as the key advocate….I assume Raymond Burr has recently passed away, but, a few episodes were run with Mr. Sorvino.

    Hey, Timmmy.
I don’t even bother any longer, my friend. Politics is for the birds? Some people are very passionate. I see it within my own family…you would not believe the heated discussions….more so, the guys.
At this point, I am, more or less, apathetic.
I can honestly tell you, though, that as much as I support Trump and his steadfast, sincere commitment to our country, I was sort of glad about the ‘halted’ health bill. Not that I am happy with Obamacare, but because, personally, I believe the proposed bill was too rushed.
Nonetheless, being forced to climb mountains, at every turn, is so unproductive….sets everything back….including people’s morales. Such a downer.
I hope more time is dedicated to/when revising the bill….ultimately, we all want the same thing.
What scares me are these random terrorist acts ….can happen anywhere, anytime…in our own backyards.

Ok…about Maurice Benard. I doubt very much, prople hate him, or the character. They do not like what Sonny represents.
You can read all my posts and you will never find my expressing hate for anyone. The word does not exist in either my vocab, or my household.
As yourself, I do like Maurise and I admire the person he is……he overcame many obstacles, and, he’s seems to be a really nice guy.
I am not familiar with his past roles, but, ‘stumbling’ should not be part of his “repertoire”…. he does have a medical issue, I get it. He’s a hero. Managing his life and a career to boot cannot be so easy.
Sonny is a character, acting out through the whims of writers. I, for one, can separate the two.
Obviously, Maurice must have shown something special, or he would not be ‘here’ after all these years.
I have considerable misgivings, but no resentment towards the actor, just the character.
One would think that birds of a feather flock together ( Sonny and Av)…….but, Ava is a bird of a different color. She personifies Saccubus…..with flair!!!! The one you’d live to hate, but can’t. I find both the actress and the character very enigmatic. We cannot help who we like, yes? LOL.
Ava has charisma….makes a night ‘n day difference, at least, for moi.
    Ciao, bello. LOL.

Hey CeeCeeGirl….I totally “GET” your MS lovefest…it happens to the best of us! I still harbor deep affection for all those favorite GH characters I discovered in my formative years….Laura, Anna, Scorpio, Noah, Frisco….for me, they can do no wrong, despite the countless times the writers have let down their portrayers in unforgivable ways! And I had a long list of soap femme fatales who I enjoyed, although did not emulate—but to whom I was favorably compared in the ’80′s, when everybody knew the daytime/primetime drama casts by name, rank and serial number! Due to my high-fashion mode of dress and petite stature, I was often referred to as “Erica” (as in Kane…) and I also got a lot of “Anna Devanes,” too. (Same hair, although mine is more “bronde” than brunette….) In fact, after seeing Finola in “Staying Alive,” one of my friend’s beaus kept remarking how much she reminded him of me, especially in the final scene when she appeared in those leather trousers and fur jacket…yes, I wore both back in the day! Haha….At any rate, despite those complimentary comments, I never wanted to be anyone but me, and I never considered the actresses who played those parts, glamorous and accomplished as they were, to be my role models since—like yourself—I was fortunate enough to have truly awesome ones in my own “real life!” As per your thoughts on politics???? Honestly, I would like to see them gone from the entertainment sphere, period…I don’t care if they are pro or con for my president….I’m just tired of the whole premise that we can’t enjoy a program without having that aspect of reality barging into what should be an otherwise pleasant, relaxing viewing experience. However, having said that, I concur with your thoughts on the pulled Medusa-like O-care repeal…it really needed to be done and done pronto, yet, I have nothing but respect for those GOP-ers who said it wasn’t good enough yet, because it wasn’t. And even “The Art of the Deal” states there are times when a bad proposal needs to simply be left on the table to be rehashed for another day….I just hope that the status quo will be struck down sooner rather than later because the “death spiral” of this ungodly mess is rapidly approaching fruition, just as was initially intended…Oh, and I would love to be a fly on the wall when it comes to your own familial political roundtable….quite candidly, I find I have my most scintillating discussions on such matters with the opposite sex….we tend to agree on much more than I do with my own so-called “tribe,” although I have a few rebellious female counterparts who are just as profoundly steadfast in their “anti-identity politics” stances as am I. Now then, back to the soaps!

I know you are not a hater, my love. I like Maurice. He is a hypocrite as Sonny and Maurice admits it and laughs it off. He has a disability and works regardless. If Maurice was missing two arms and two legs maybe some folks would treat him differently.

This country is in big trouble! Obama blamed Bush and now Trump blames Obama. If this country doesnt come together and support the president and make America great again, by 2020 Isis will be in control and we wont have to worry about Sonny anymore! The entertainment industry, most of them gloated about the failure of Trumpcare while the poor folks over in England mourned the loss of several humans because of the worldwide threats that exist!

This is TERRIBLE news, bad enough they only have Tonja Walker on for JUST a short run as Olivia Jerome, now we won’t have Tracy either?! Don’t think Robin Strasser should replace her, but the ABC / Prospect Park lawsuit is over, so they can use “OLTL” characters again like they are doing now with Nora. So maybe Dorian should resurface in Port Charles to pick up the slack for the departing Tracy…..

The end of an era. The Quartermaine family storylines were the best ever. Now the show has become nothing but the Sonny show, with everyone else there for nothing but small backup storylines. Good luck Jane, GH and the fans will miss you!

Yes, please…I will miss her terribly~
It’s the only soap I have ever watched, and having met a few from the cast over the years…this was a shock to find while traveling… wow! :’(
Love her character, always did…nothing like fire, with a huge broken, healed even stronger heart, and able to stand on her own~ strong…a brilliant mind combined into one character, great casting~
She waltzed right in and owned this character~
What a wonderful exit speech…I would think her own words, not written by someone else. So eloquent~
Loved seeing the older clips…such memories~
    You will be missed…
Any plans for other things, Jane?

I am so sad about Jane Elliot’s departure. I am so sad about tony Geary’s departure. I just feel sad. These characters become life family. I am aware these people have their own lives and people retire or change jobs as we do but it is still very hard to say good bye. The best of everything Jane. I miss you already. Tears tears.
