Daytime Emmy winner, Jeff Branson (Ronan) will be returning to The Young and the Restless on June 26th! Last time out, Ronan left Genoa City after the Diane Jenkins murder case was officially closed. So what brings him back? And why did the elusive Branson decide to make another return to the number one soap? Well, in the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest on newsstands now, Branson fills soap fans in on what he asked of Y&R’s executive producer and head writer, Maria Arena Bell, in regard to what he was looking to play, and what he wasn’t!
Branson stated, “I don’t want it to be the same cop rigmarole where you’re doing police procedural stuff and interrogation scene after interrogation scene. So going in this time, I asked Maria Arena Bell, “What are you thinking?” because I wanted it to be a little more three dimensional. There is a lot in that storyline with Nina that hasn’t been scratched yet. I really love working with Tricia Cast (Nina). I feel such genuine, searing emotions every time we work together. Since we haven’t gotten into the Nina/Ronan thing, I told Maria I would like to see a lot more of it this time and she agreed. She said she could meet me halfway, if I could meet her half way, and here I am.”
As far as Ronan’s love life, Branson has this to share about some of his female co-stars, “I’ve shared scenes with Jennifer Landon (Heather) and I’m a big fan of her work. I think this will bring another dimension to her character, which means the whole Ronan and Heather can be revisited again. Liz Hendrickson (Chloe) and I have known each other for years and I think Chloe/Ronan thing is nice, too because it brings out a different side of Ronan. It’s a chance for him to drop the frosty, crusty exterior he puts on because Chloe really gets under his skin, but in a good way.”
So who would you like to see Ronan romantically linked with? Chloe, Heather, or how about Phyllis? Would you like to see more evolution to the Ronan and Nina mother/son relationship? Let us know your thoughts!
