News out from CBS Soaps In Depth, is one of soap opera’s true original performers, Judith Chapman who plays Gloria Fisher Bardwell has been bumped to recurring status with the show and taken off contract.  It has been apparent for quite a while that Chapman who had driven story and was integral to many of the plots with the Fisher clan has not had something to sink her teeth into for quite awhile.

Chapman will be on the show on and as needed basis, when Gloria needs to strut her stuff on the Genoa City canvas. And remember, Ted Shackelford (Jeffrey) and Sean Kanan  (Deacon) continue to appear on Y&R on a recurring basis, and that hasn’t stopped them from popping up and stirring the pot!

I adore Judith on the show and think she is fabulous as Gloria. Too bad about the status bump, but I hope they will resurrect the character at some point and give her a great story. She’s very entertaining!

  3. [...] Michael Fairman reports that Judith Chapman Gloria has been bumped to recurring status. Judith Chapman. The same Judith Chapman, who under the auspices of John Smith and Kay Alden, drove story like nobody’s business. The same Judith Chapman who can take whatever drivel she’s handed and make it work. WTH?!?!?! Y&R, your choices never cease to confound me. Now on with our regularly scheduled recap… [...]
