General Hospital welcomes back one of its longtime favorite script writers in 2017, as Kate Hall is now writing episodes of the ABC soap opera under head writers Shelly Altman and Jean Passanante.

Hall took to Twitter to announce her return with a picture of a script fro the show.

Kate enthused: “Now this is what I call kicking off the new year… #sohappy #gh”

Look for her scripts to begin airing in February. Previously, Hall had been with The Young and the Restless through 2016.   She has previously been at General Hospital, the last time from 2011-2015,  and All My Children in 2007-2011 throughout her soap career.

Hall is pictured here with her 2016 WGA Award (for work in 2015) for GH from last February.

So, what do you think of the news of Kate Hall writing again for GH? Comment below.

Enjoyed her tenure over at #YR! She comes from a fine pedigree, with mother Courtney Simon (ATWT, SFT) and father Peter Simon (GL, SFT)

They could bring in Steven Spiegel or Martin Scorsese and it would make little difference as long as Shelly Altman and Jean Passanante are at the helm of their stupid ship it will sink.

Dahm those two/ J&S are so lame …

Wrong it was sinking when Ron was writing, since they got rid of him Jean and Shelly have turned things around. The show is far better off with them but keep shilling for your buddy Ron. Is he still mad that they fired him for his crappy writing?

The ratings are way down from when Ron was writing. Facts are your friends

Still wish Ron was head-writer but like Kate there. She is as progressive as Jean and Shelly for whom she will write.

I wonder why she only stayed at Y&R for a year and is now returning to GH. Regardless, does she have the ability to helm a head writing position? Because Jean and Shelly need to go after this year of painful stories. The only story I enjoyed was Morgan’s death because the acting and writing that came out of it was brilliant. And now, the Oscar Jessup story seems to have potential. I’ve also enjoyed Valentin’s arrival, minus the whole Charlotte plot because at this point, can we even trust this latest paternity reveal? Other than those stories, GH this year has been a total wash for me.

Seems like good news, but can someone tell me what makes her special or what she wrote that was so good to have her here back @GH..Clearly, she was not effective on AMC, since that show was poorly written for those years mention, in my opinion.. Just saying..What did she write that was so special over @GH during her tenure?

Can the soaps remaining find new blood!? To save the genre, we need a different approach..Hiring new EP’s and new head writers, not the same old ones going back and forth between the 4 remaining soaps!

Still, so happy we have our soaps!!

Her writing (along with RC’s complete disregard for history) are reason I stopped watching GH in April 2013 and haven’t watched since. Her writing decimated Frisco & Felicia’s history in one episode. It was completely heartbreaking.

I love F&F but she can’t be held responsible for that and I know exactly what you’re referring to. She’s not a head writer or outline writer so really is told what plots to write and probably how to write them to a certain extent. The situation with Mac, Felicia, Frisco and Maxie, was likely outlined for her. Not to mention that the head writer edits and approves all scripts before they hit the screen and sometimes FV edits them again once they film the scenes. She actually has written some great romance scenes for Classic couples at various times.
