Why is ABC’s Couric promoting an NBC soap???

My first thought as well. ABC NEVER cross promotes other networks’ shows. Ever watch The View? If a star from another network comes on, they always say to “check your local listings”, rather than heaven forbid name the network their show airs on.

But hey, they chose the right show to promote- another daytime serial! And it just so happens to be my personal fave. So I won’t complain!

Katie did a HUGE GH show last year. While Katie is syndicated by an ABC subsidiary, it is not an ABC show.

    Jules replied

Oh I know about the GH special. But that is another ABC daytime show, so that made sense. But DAYS? I don’t know 100% how it works but it was my impression her talk show is produced by ABC and aired on ABC affiliates all over the country. Her show is considered part of the ABC daytime line up, replacing All My Children, after all. So to promote, let alone mention a NBC soap is quite strange for me given The Mickey Mouse Station’s love of self-promotion.

Hey 4everDAYS you should apply– you definitely one of the show’s biggest fans on this site. You and Patrick. I am not the show’s biggest fan, but I know if I had a chance to be in a scene– I would want it be with Fr. Eric. Just have me bump into him in the Horton Square and he has to help me up– i be in heaven– no lines, just to be that close up to someone that pretty in black, will be enough for this gal.

the same would have to happen to me…..

knock me out… i’d freeze and be “SO” starstruck.

    i’ll have to coin the phrase…. “cope’abilities”.

    ” I Do Love THE “show” “.

    I’d walk in: take Rafe’alicious pulse….

Thank you for your input, but I would fear losing the fantasy of my
soap world by visiting the studio. Seeing outdoor sets inside and
rooms with 3 walls only along with lights and cameras as well as
scripts in hands and directors directing would just hurt the fantasy.

In my honest opinion, I think a fan of DAYS since the beginning of
DAYS should and would be more deserving. I do see myself as a
superfan, but have only watched for nearly 30 years. I missed the first
18 years and wish I could see all of them!

If I were to appear on DAYS, I would hate to choose just one performer
to work with. I love them all!!! Now, if my dying wish came true(Charlotte
Ross reprises her role as Eve Donovan), then I could see myself in a scene
opposite her. Maybe as an ex john!!!

The early Days years were amazing…they story lines were family related with a ton of drama…Julie was quite the Nicole of the 60′s…welll maybe not quite that bad…lol but she did have a rebellious side to her …and Doug and Julie IMHO were the first Days supercouple!! What an amazing show…and the memories I have…they truly feel like a pseudo-family! Would give anything to win this contest! Good Luck to all who have entered!!

Ive watched days since the 1960s…i consider 1968 to 1978 Days best…back then it was all about the Hortons, Andersons, Peters and The Grants…the Grants was, i believe, daytimes first complete african american family, with mother Helen, father Paul, grown son Danny, and grown daughter Valerie who was in love with Julies grown son David. IMO…i consider Doug and Julie daytimes no.1 romantic supercouple! Some clips are available on utube including a rare shot of the Hortons dining room during Thanksgiving! And from 1976 scenes with the Grant family…Tina Andrews is wonderful as Valerie…if you havent seen these check them out!!!

    jimh(leave to beaver) replied

I never had a problem with the David and Valerie storyline myself…i liked the Grant family…also another story some fans didnt like was when Sharon Duval told Julie Williams she was in love with her…Sharons husband Karl also was in love with Julie…i had no problem with this story as well…Julie and her rival Susan were kinda like Nicole is today but Linda Anderson was more like a mix of Nicole and Kristen but imo not as wicked as Kristen…i hated it when she and so many others were part of a mass firing in 1980. The late Margaret Mason who played Linda did return briefly when stepdaughter Mary fell victim to the Salem Strangular…i was hoping she’d stay…i believe she wouldve been great paired with Stephano but it never happened which was a big mistake on Days part. Linda later returned but was played by Elaine Princi…it wasnt the same for me, especially since Elaine had played Bill Hortons lover Dr. Kate Winograd in the late 70s…i dont think todays Kate Roberts, who also had an affair with Bill, is the same Dr. Kate but i remember when some fans used to think she was…

When I became a fan of DAYS in 1984, my research of
DAYS history revealed a startling fact about the SL of
David Banning and Valerie Grant; it ended after a negative
response from viewers once David and Valerie kissed
at a wedding of Doug and Julie. I hope viewers would be
more accepting nowaDAYS! I’m all for diversity. It would
be nice for DAYS to strengthen the weaknesses they have
    regarding the different races.

    Mary K. Nugent replied

LOL…Sister Mary…that would be cool!!! Just walk on that set would make me awestruck…great memory jimh..I have watched many of the late 60′s early 70′s clips on YouTube….and if my memory is correct Days had the biracial couple and were the first to enter that genre…I believe it was Valerie Grant and David Banning…Doug and Julie…WOW..I could go on forener…when Doug’s Place was THE place to go and he would sing The Look of Love to her…OMg…then when he started singing Always…like at Tom & Alice’s anniversary, wel it took my breath way…I loved the triangle of Julie/Bob Anderson/ and Doug…that was some great acting…along with the Laura/Bill/Mickey storyline…..AHHH…those were the Days of Our LIves!!

I love this! I wouldn’t dream of entering because I watch Days only ever so often, but I love that a soap is being promoted like this. I loved the huge General Hospital show Katie did last season and I would love to see this kind of exposure for soaps, of any network, continue.

In 1986 Gloria Loring (ex Liz Chandler Curtis) was doing a benefit in Cincinnati for JDF and I inquired about tickets and it was $150 a plate…which I could not afford…so I offered to volunteer to work the event and the coordinator took my name and number and said she would call me back if she could find something for me…well did she find something…she asked me if I would like to be Ms. Loring’s dresser and assist her with gown changes during her performance!! i said WHAT? Are you kidding me? It was an unforgettable experience…i had a framed pic of she and I and my ex-husband knew how much it meant to me so he shredded it!! I called him a few names which I can’t say on this forum….then in 1994 Drake Hogestyn was at a Fan event in Cincinnati sponsored by Revco (a drug store chain at the time) and my 9 yr old daughter and I stood in line for 5 hours for a meet and greet with pics and all…it was surreal!! He had broken his foot or ankle and was on crutches…here is the link to my Twitter account if you would like to follow me or see my pics….I love my Days of Our LIves!!

I wonder if you could find Days biggest fan in Utah? You’d have to give them bonus points for staying up late if he/she can’t afford a DVR because Mormon owned KSL (Utah’s NBC affiliate) has just reared its ugly sensorship head again by pushing Days of our Lives to late-late-night because of their ongoing gay storyline. The affiliate has refused to officially confirm why the show was bumped, but in e-mail exchanges with frustrated fans the network has claimed that the storyline has been “offending” viewers. These games that KSL plays with “controversial” programming is what’s truly “offensive”. Maybe KSL’s fan base wouldn’t be so upset about gay themes if there wasn’t trickle down bigotry being projected by their church leaders. When will the Mormon Prophet finally recieve some “modern day revelation” that there is nothing wrong with being gay? And when will KSL give their viewers the option to change the channel if they don’t like what they are viewing? I’ll never understand how it’s legal for a religious organization to own a major broadcasting affiliate! Just saying.

Are they the same people who have multiple wives? They
should be most understanding. Where are all the women
for the single men? I believe people are born gay, but some
people could turn gay if the opposite sex is not available.
If there is 100 men and 100 women and 25 of those men have
4 wives each, what do the 75 remaining men do? They must
think DAYS is giving those single men ideas! BTW, Days of our Lives
title was lifted from a bible psalm.

Great point 4everDays! As far as the bible psalm they don’t care anything about that. Their own “bible”, The Book of Mormon takes presidence over anything found in the bible the rest of us refer to. Also, just the mormons that practice the original mormon doctrine (which are now referred to as FLDS) practice polygamy. The “main-stream” mormons no longer endorse that idea until the afterlife where they believe men will again be able to take multiple wives. But your accurate in stating that they don’t want their members exposed to homosexuality because it may give people ideas since they view homosexuality as sinful and unnatural.
