When she is not busy popping into General Hospital to reprise her role as the beloved Robin Scorpio Drake (look for her soon at the upcoming Nurses’ Ball episodes), Kimberly McCullough is busy pursuing her directing career behind the camera.

The expectant mom, just got received another feather in her cap, when she was among the inaugural directors picked to participate in the DGA (Director’s Guild of America) TV Director Mentorship Program.  As part of the mentorship experience, early-career directors (Protégés) are paired with veteran TV directors (Mentors) who will serve as their professional guides to the working world of episodic television throughout the 2017-18 season. Participants in the structured, intensive career development program are matched based on their work experience, interpersonal chemistry and mutual craft interests to ensure a fulfilling experience.

“With television directing jobs on the rise and more industry employers heeding the call for director diversity – our members have told us that they are seeking career development resources to help set them up for success,” said DGA president Paris Barclay. “And the DGA has the best resources in the world – a deep well of talent made up of seasoned TV directors who are dedicated and eager to give back to their Guild and share their years of expert experience with the next generation. That was the driving force behind this new mentorship program and initiatives which are designed to equip early-career directors and members transitioning to episodic television directing with the tools necessary to turn those first few jobs into lifelong careers.”

Congrats to Kimberly on being part of this excited new program! Share your thoughts on Kimberly’s selection into the program in the comment section below!

This young lady is gung-ho on being a director. I knew she did some kind of internship at “Grey’s Anatomy” and a few other things behind the camera. Still miss seeing her as Robin on a daily basis but glad to see that she has that determination to succeed in anything she does.

This is great news for Kim. What a winner! Now onto business, Robin must be recasted! Anna is front an center and the perfect recast is available. Elizabeth Hendrickson. AND, Jason Thompson is never leaving Y&R so you might as well recast Patrick and the perfect recast is available for him, as well. Greg Rikaart. MEGA CHEMISTRY between both actors!

Recasting Robin? No way! Kimberly has played Robin since she was 7 years old. Fans watched her grow up on the show. She is and always will be the only Robin, there is no one else the fans would accept in the role.

I love Kim and you are right, there is only one BUT I see how this hurts a show time and time again. Look at Jeanne Cooper, she died and they didnt recast and now the Chancelor name is buried with her. Lets say this, what if Kim gave ABC her blessing?

Oh thank GOD. I’ve been saying this for years.

Kimberly chose directing. I wish her GREAT success. But the character is needed, if only for the next head trauma Jason gets. (One every two years, right?)

It’s painful for fans… she’s had a truly inspired run and truly is a legacy character.

A recast for her and Patrick with Emma and a new kiddo in tow would make me happy.

Now, can Jason put away the black tees, guns, and all mob stuff and settle down as a Quatermain. Pretty please?

Great news! She was in an ABC/Disney program of some sort so this is another big step in the right direction. And of course, I’m glad to see her more regularly on GH. She’s probably one of the few former contract actors that can pop in so easily and blend into story/situations without much work required from other actors, directors, and writers at GH. So easy! And Brooklyn will be back soon too!
