Great news today out of the TCA’s (Television Critics Association) Winter Press Tour for the Showtime Network! Kyle MacLachlan who starred as Special Agent Dale Cooper on the original ABC version of David Lynch and Mark Frost’s Twin Peaks, has indeed signed on to play the role once again in Showtime’s upcoming limited run series revival of the quirky soapesque drama!

The actor told reporters on stage during the network’s presentation, “I’m very excited to return to the strange and wonderful world of Twin Peaks.”

For those that watched the final installment of the original Twin Peaks, Agent Cooper’s found himself getting possessed by the evil  Killer BOB and then proceeding to smash his head into a mirror!

Now the story will be set in present day 25 years since the original.  With MacLachlan on board the network says that fans should look for more original cast members to most likely be on their way back, as well!

Production of Twin Peaks is said to commence midway in the year, and to be shot in multiple locations, and most likely in their original series home of Washington state and the Pacific Northwest revealed Showtime’s head honcho, David Nevins.

I dont get showtime…the first year mystery of Laura Palmer was great entertaiment…i thought it would replace my favorite mystery serial Edge Of Night but its second season was forgettable mess…Edge was the best ever mystery drama on tv…its been many years since the original TP…many people today havent seen it…wish this was on SciFi…but its still all about the writing…Twin Peaks is a cult classic…many of its original viewers are long gone…will it be a hit…like i said they need some pretty interesting stories to draw in new viewers…adding t&a and every curse word known to man just because its on cable wont bring in the viewers…you need good character driven plotlines and interesting chacters…Downtown Abby is a hit because of the wonderful actors/characters and classy storylines…take a hint David Lynch!!!

I’m glad Kyle is back…wouldn’t be the same without him! Hope others come back too, but NOT the dead ones, LOL.
It will be fun to see what’s in store 25 years later.
