262 October 15th, 2017 Lexi Ainsworth and Ashley Jones Written Out At GH, But Is It Permanent?

Courtesy/ABC

Pristina fans were in an uproar all last week following key episodes in the love story and same-sex romance of Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Lexi Ainsworth) and Parker Forsyth (Ashley Jones).

In story, the duo decided to head to Oregon after Parker was dismissed by the university and lost her job, and Kristina wanted to leave town with her.  Of course, Alexis’ (Nancy Lee Grahn) disapproval of their relationship didn’t help matters.  According to the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest, the characters will remain off the canvas for now, and for the foreseeable future.

Interestingly enough, Ashley Jones came back to GH in August to reprise her role, while currently Ainsworth has been filming episodes of TNT’s Major Crimes.  Earlier this year, Lexi Ainsworth also picked up a Daytime Emmy in the Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series category.

Neither Jones or Ainsworth has made any official comment on social media this past week as to their status with GH, and what the future may, or may not, hold.  However, Ashley Jones answered a fans tweet inquiring as to if Parker will be back? She replied: “Time will tell (hopefully sooner than later)…hang tight;)”

So, how do you feel about the Pristina story being written-out? Do you hope Ashley and Lexi return? Comment below!

I am 100% sure they will be back. And that this is due to schedule conflict as Nathan said it. It will be interesting though how will they bring them back. We all hope is for holidays family dinner, somehow? Anyways Pristina fans will continue to support and be loyal to these two characters and story that we love so much!

I don’t want Parker or Kristina written out of General Hospital. Yes, I want Lexi AND Ashley to return to General Hospital. At this point, they are a couple and I want to see them together on the show traversing the landscape as do other “soap” couples. They have a steadily growing global Fan base. What is it going to take for this couple to get equal treatment? Pristina’s love story and budding romance makes for the drama that brought me to watch General Hospital in the first place. This couple has earned the right to have ample screen time and a True Romance, great writing and to be valued for all they bring to the show. Ashley and Lexi both shine in their respective roles and when I see them together as Parker and Kristina, it is magical!

I totally agree also. Christina played the role better as a straight actress better than a gay one. The story line with Parker is trash. I disagree pairing Val with Christina is extremely horrible. I feel if u are going to play as gay characters u should start off that way. Gh is a well known soap and should already know to cast that way. Drop the Chris and Parker horrible ….

Agreed, Sam. It’s all about the pairing. The ‘blahest’ couple next to Sam and Jason.
I definitely to not mind gay couples on soaps or on any show; not in this day and age. It is their right as human beings…just not these two. No gravitational pull.
Furthermore, bigotry has nothing to do with it, if this is what’s implied. It could have been a straight couple; I would say the same thing….as I say about many straight couples on the soaps I watch. No electricity!!!!
So, please, to those who want to make this about homosexuality on soaps?…..let’s not go there. It’s offensive, at this point. We all have our opinions. But, everyone on these sites is not bigoted, but very respectful on this subject.
Whatever ” equal treatment” means, needs an explanation, with all due respect.
This has nothing to do with sexual preference….that thinking is archaic, in my book……it has all to do with performance. Ashley and Ainsley have failed miserably in the love department.
Let’s try different actresses, if/when they return.

Thank you, Celia, first for understanding my humour and secondly for explaining it to others. Maybe I should’ve been more direct to begin with though, since it’s a serious subject that doesn’t seem to get a fair deal.

You probably haven’t seen my reply to Kristi because it’s stuck in moderation, but I already explained my stand to her. I would hate to think I caused a rift between posters, especially since I could’ve been more clear to begin with.

As for GH and it’s failures to sustain quality material for the gay community, we can only hope it gets better, and when it does there will be less people who lack a sense of humour.

Lexi Ainsworth used to really impress me. Maybe it has been the writing this go round, but she has come across as mean, hostile, judgmental, shrill, annoying, and self centered. I shouldn’t expect anything less from the spawn of Sonny!! However, I thought the writers were going to take a different path, one that is more current. That of a young girl who was bitter from experiences with men, and decided to take a tumble with a woman, but then ultimately get back together with a man. THAT is edgy and topical and controversial. I know many people of both sexes who have “experimented”, realized it wasn’t their thing, and went back to the opposite sex. The character Ashley played came across as a very unappealing older professor who liked to Mack on her young students. I am not upset at all at them being written out. The show is kind of firing right now on a lot of cylinders, and their story was mostly a throwaway afterthought anyway.

“That of a young girl who was bitter from experiences with men, and decided to take a tumble with a woman, but then ultimately get back together with a man. Do you honestly think women who have had bad relationship/s with a man/men just decide on a whim to give lesbianism a whirl? I’m a lesbian with a large, predominantly straight, circle of friends. 80% of these have had at least one bad experience with a man. Many have had several. Never have I heard any of them say, “Oh, you know, I’ll give vagina a try today!” And why on earth would you think doing so would be “edgy and topical and controversial’? If GH had of gone in this direction it would have done nothing more than follow in the footsteps of other TV shows. You know, the TV shows that actually believe lesbians are lesbians because they all have bad relationships with men. I love men. I have a great relationship with my father and brothers, my best friend is male. But despite that, rest assured, I don’t wake up and think, “Oh, I’ve had some bad relationships with women, I might try me some penis”. Bemused!

Well put, Jovin, and thank you for your remarks on my post, too!

I just read all of the comments and one thing folks have not mentioned is that we viewers were not privy to watching Kristina fall for her English professor.
Too often on GH, important events, integral to the story at hand, happen off camera. We saw this with Silas crying on and about his wife Nina, whom we had not even met yet. Maybe if we had been part of the Parker/Kristina story since it’s inception we could be more enthusiastic. I think it might have been interesting to watch Kristina watch her English professor lecture on the great Romantic poets while looking all love lorn. In real life, students often fall in love with literature, and by extension, they fall in love with their professors. This happens. But we viewers should have been involved in the process–watched and felt the romantic and sexual tension before anything happened.
It was written poorly, and I think that is part of the reason why this storyline failed to resonate with viewers.

    Kristi (KrispyOz31) replied

@ Harry I very much enjoyed reading your post. Although the s/l resonated with me, I can understand why it didn’t for others. Firstly, for the very reason you highlighted. Second, limited screen time. Less than 45 minutes is simply not anywhere near enough time to present a story to the GA. Morgan’s s/l received more air time and he’s dead. Third, haphazard storytelling-some good writing but then some damn awful writing. The s/l needed to move forward from 2016 and it simply didn’t. If the showrunners intend moving forward with this s/l they need to fully commit, otherwise leave the storytelling to showrunners that actually care.

    K replied

“Mack on young girls”? Just the fact that you would write something so wildly inaccurate shows that your opinion cannot be taken seriously. Parker, with very little screen time, has been played to perfection by Ashley Jones who has been on tv for quite some time.

    K replied

Well, prepare, because they WILL be back.

    nancy dillingham replied

What an injustice TPTB have done to whatever plausible story there could have been. So poorly written from beginning to end. Provided no motivation whatsoever for the character Kristina that Lexi plays. And they have written the teacher/professor character so horribly that no one could possibly fathom her motivation either. And no they are written what is “expedient” to allow Lexi to do another part. Fie! And it leave an all-so-familiar bitter taste in my mouth. No thought of the viewer at all–once again. My TV has been on sometimes during GH time slot, but I find myself not caring whether I look at it or not. I do make sure that I watch when Genie Francis is on. She’s the only character I truly care about at the juncture. Not good sign for the show. Viewers can take only so much. :( :(

Correction: “And NOW they are WRITING . . . “

    Kristi (KrispyOz31) replied

I disagree with your assessment on the writing for the most part. In 2016, despite limited screen time for Pristina, GH managed to create an organic, richly layered and beautifully crafted love story between two women. The writing was so, so good! The dichotomy between “sense” and “sensibility” is one of the lenses through which their relationship was (and continues to be) explored and, from a personal point of view, I loved every minute of their complicated relationship. It would have been a true testament to their commitment and understanding of a queer woman character had GH continued to explore these characters as both individuals and as a potential couple. Instead, nada!

Fast forward to 2017 and it would be an understatement to assert that the writing and direction has been rather hit and miss. GH’s continued ambivalence to the Pristina relationship is regrettable to say the least. Neither character has been integrated into the canvas, neither are involved in major storylines with other major characters, and their individual story’s exists only within the confines of their relationship. This is reflected in a lack of screen time and a lack of character growth/development. Don’t get me wrong, the chemistry remains and I’m still invested but, despite some lovely scenes and good writing in parts, the repeated dialogue, change in story telling direction (last 4 episodes of their storyline are without question rewrites), fastest lesbian u-haul in the history of television, double standards (Grava love scene and passionate kissing versus no Pristina love scene and cotton wool kissing), etc…have all left a sour taste in my mouth.

General Hospital should seriously get their shit together, or leave the queer character storytelling to others. The actresses deserve better. The fandom deserves better. Queer women deserve better.

I have to say Laura’s bores the heck out of me, too. She adds nothing to the show at this point. Yes, I loved her at one point. But she’s so dour all the time…and I mean all the time…just doesn’t hold my interest when she’s on. I do love Kevin and I think he’s wasted with Laura at this point. (though he’s never on…not sure if that’s his choice or the producer.)

I really wish they’d just focus on Jason’s return at this point and the circle of characters that will be effected by him. Everything else just seems like filler at this point and takes away from the one good story they have going.

I like her as this lean, mean fighting machine.
However, she deserves her own story.

    Rebecca1 replied

Harry…I wrote you a response that didn’t post…basically we’ll have to agree to disagree on this. (LOL..we’ve done it before! ;) I’m just not enjoying Laura this time around. I loved her back in the day…she was the epitome of hearth and home and warmth…the solid foundation for Lucky and Lulu who eventually cracked. Great story lines revolved around her and she brought her A game. But her return, while nice, isn’t the reason I tune in. Her character doesn’t draw me in. I’m much more interested in the two Jasons…I’m loving Anna and Finn, Nina and Valentin, I even enjoy Amy more than Laura because she’s at least fun! (ooooh, I can feel other posters cringe in disbelief as I write that.)

Sigh. Give Laura a good story…have her on more than an occasional day to fret…which is all she seems to do…and maybe I’ll get back into the character. I do love Kevin and he, too, is barely on. So, the momentum is lost. She’s constantly finding excuses not to be with him and when they are together it’s off camera. Just holds no interest for me.

    Could change. Everything does…

Dr Helen Ruth. Did you watch their scenes? I believe you didn’t. Kristina was aged, as they regularly do, and is a graduate student, or at least was until the she withdrew from business school to be with Parker. Kristina stated it very clearly in recent scenes, not two weeks ago.

Amimon, do you mean Lexi the actress or Kristina the character is 24/25 years old and is a graduate student?
Because if it’s the former, I have to point out that she never received her undergraduate degree. She was expelled and then later dropped out.
In addition to their age differences, I have to point out that Kristina comes off as psychologically damaged. It’s hard not to shake off the feeling that Parker took advantage of the situation using her status as a professor, not to mention th 20 years or so she has on the poor girl.
While I do think Alexis is being ridiculous trying to to interfere, I totally understand why she’d want to.
On a shallow note, I don’t see these two enjoying any kind of chemistry. For me, they’re kind of dull.

Haha! In what country? Both are adults! Kristina is a graduate student, not in high school. Parker is a professor in a different department. GH really needs to do better research. It is not against any school policy for teacher student relationship if both are in different departments. Nor would anyone be jailed unless sex between two consenting adults has become a crime and no-one bothered to tell me.

    Rhonda replied

Krisit, you’re right of course. They aren’t breaking any laws.
That said, think how we’d feel if Parker were a man

    Celia replied

I doubt it, Sandy. Kristina is not a minor. Two consenting adults….no jail.
However, that’s not even the point, albeit, I do understand the resentment.
I think what turns many off is the homosexuality part of this, which to some makes it sordid.
If that’s the reason, then we need to get off our high horses.
As I said; personally, this couple did not do it for me…and, not because of the gay factor.

    K replied

Replying “yuk” makes your foolish behavior so evident. Your opinion has no basis in objectivity and therefore is void. I hope they return to Port Charles and stay.

    Kristi (KrispyOz31) replied

Janet Hernandez, please refer to the dictionary to educate yourself on the term pedophile. Terribly irksome when individuals use a term that is not applicable to a situation. Furthermore, your “yuk” commentary is woeful!.

Rhonda, I’m not sure what you’re implying with the ‘man’ comment? Worse if it was a man? Both should be viewed the same in my opinion. FYI, I would have no issue with a 25 woman and a 40 old man. Nor would I have any issue with a 25 woman and a 40 year old woman. Love is love. Both are consenting adults. There is no impropriety in either relationship.

    Shay replied

@Rhonda….If Parker were of the opposite sex, there’s no question misandry would be reigning supreme on this thread. We’d be getting lectured chapter and verse on older men in senior positions who inflict themselves upon innocent young girls…especially in an educational/collegiate setting where the power dynamic is so skewed toward those in authority.

It looks that way, though, does it not?
    Let’s hope it’s a temporary absence…..as I said, different actresses, please.
I’d like to see Lucas and Brad back. This couple had that ‘je ne sais quoi factor’…..especially Brad.
He has that comedic ‘thing’ about him without even trying. I don’t know; to me he looks like he has a perpetual smirk on his face….you know, what I mean? It’s like he knows something no one else does. Humor is a quality which should be employed here and there….not just to break the monotony ( Sam, Jason, Michael etc.), but for comic relief. Any drama teacher will tell us that. And all playwrights have exercised this ploy since forever.
Perhaps we will see him soon, especially since a few have intimated he may be related to Oscar? Am I wrong? Is Brad a Wu? Not too well-versed in GH.

I see no nuances in the performances; the actors can’t write their own material, for heaven’s sake. They are “bound” by the lack of substance in the writing they are given. Pity the poor actors! I do!

I wholeheartedly disagree with your assessment of their performances. Conflicted Parker is one hot mess, and confused Kristina desperately trying to navigate her sexuality… well, an Emmy win for this role is testament to how strong her performance really was. Another thing, irrespective of problematic writing, I’ve seen many a performance where actors have shined in roles. Writing most certainly does not dictate performance in all cases. I’ve addressed your criticism on the writing in a reply to your many other negative comments.

My question was meant to be humorous and as a way for Alberto to not shy away from stating the obvious. Emily…In what way is their story “beautiful?” I’m seriously curious as to what you find beautiful about it. They’re barely on, they’ve never been a couple, they had one night and they’re constantly discussing if they should be together. Other than that, Parker sounds like she’s talking to a student or a daughter. There’s been no bonding, no shared anything except one night and some flirtations off camera when Kristina was her student. Beautiful was Romeo and Juliet. LOL…Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (they WERE a beautiful thing to watch!). Krissie and Parker? So no.

I have never been one to be the alarmist but after watching how they made Brad a total criminal so that they could conveniently write the couple out and now Parker and Kristina. So in addition to the scandal of them being gay we have to punish them. I’m not surprised. All soaps think they are so progressive when they introduce a gay character. Some soaps just stay away from the topic altogether but most soaps take the plunge and work hard to get the gay characters into the mainstream. Then the midwest reacts and they suddenly have to punish the gay characters. While DAYS gets props for keeping the gay characters in the forefront, they were doing the same thing by having Will have sex with Gabby so they could question the reality of his gayness. Then the reality set in that he was gay. They married him off to Sonny and then BAM they killed him off. He’s coming back now a couple years later. Sonny and Paul were supposed to marry and move into their “happy” life. Of course…..now they can’t be happy because Will is coming back. Again props for not avoid the reality of who their characters are. Y&R is walking a tightrope with Mariah and Tessa. They are still keeping Tessa with Noah. And Mariah is left wondering if something is wrong with her because she has feelings for a woman. We need to stop making gay characters a victim. Not every gay person struggles with AIDS or wanting to sleep with the opposite sex. Marrying them off is putting them into the heterosexual norm. They are not heterosexual. I’m sorry that this is the truth. They love who they love. No need for shame or denial. Bold/Beautiful took on the transgender story and then just dropped it in the middle of the game. The only show that at least shows their gay characters is DAYS but there is always a serial killer or crazy psychiatrist who wants to change them into the alleged societal norm. How about a story where two women or two men can become a super couple and face issues like alcholism or adultery or adoption or something that every day people face. I know dramas are here for drama. But I would like to see the representation show these gay characters with some sense of inner strength. They are out there. As a gay man myself I am tired of seeing every gay representation, both day time or night time, presented as indecisive or uncertain. There are proud and strong people out there who are not ashamed of who they are. Okay my pulpit service is over…..back to your local programming. Sorry Kristina and Parker are leaving. I guess Steve Burton was upset about gays taking over his air time. LOL – yes that was a joke folks …

This storyline has been doomed from day one. Had no problem believing Kristina could be gay/bisexual/whatever she’s labeling herself as these days. But the choice of Parker as a girlfriend?? Nope. Krissy has “daddy issues”, not “mommy issues”. Her falling for another female student while away at college would have been more credible.

Hopefully this will be a case of Kristina taking a break while Lexi does her prime time stuff and then she will be back. Don’t really care if Parker comes back or not. I thought Kristina and Valerie were a better match anyway…. even if Valerie still says she’s straight, at the moment.

    Reply

    Shay replied

@Satan…On the contrary, I’ve long maintained that this character has screaming “mommy issues!” Kristina’s choice of Parker as an object of affection clearly demonstrated that she required a far more stable, nurturing and comforting maternal figure than the one she had at home, otherwise she would have been “experimenting” with plenty of ready and willing female collegians that fell within her own peer group had she been so inclined ! Furthermore, from the get-go, I’ve found Krissy’s suddenly shifting proclivities rather perplexing and disingenuous….no one was more boy crazy than the teenaged version, not to mention, the simmering sexpot that was previously portrayed by the alluring Lindsay Morgan….This character had numerous crushes, boyfriends and even a marriage to Trey. Me thinks the showrunners simply wanted this sensational storyline too much and thus, failed to provide the more likely and consistent portrayal of the willful, spoiled and decidedly-heterosexual brat that this character has always been in the past. That consideration, along with the return of Krissy’s frequently surly and immature persona ala Lexi, made this entire scenario a total miss in my book. I’m actually glad to see her departing Port Charles for the time being…whether she ever returns—-be it with or without Parker—-really is beside the point from my perspective…I just hope that if we again see this character, it’s in the form of a less grating and more adult-like recast!

I agree, robbie. I (as I’ve laid claim to on several posts) really did think Valerie would be a good match for Krissie and said so before they even went there.. Unfortunately, they haven’t utilized the beautiful actress who plays Valerie and as such haven’t given her a relationship…I just thought this would be a great way to get her on the canvas and showcase these two actresses with a natural chemistry.

    Celia replied

Yes, robbie. They looked so good together and acted so naturally, I almost forgot it was staged for Parker’s benefit.
That’s what I’d like to see. I am not saying to make Valerie gay ( albeit, not a bad idea), but introduce a light-hearted relationship….and then slowly go into the depth of social issues—the struggles gays face etc. I think Parker and Kristina were just slammed into each other too soon. No breathing room.

    Rebecca1 replied

I agree, Satan. Kristina has always had daddy issues (not “mommy”. the only issues Molly and Kristina had with Alexis was her push to make them excel…her strive for what they saw as perfection) …In terms of love, Kristina felt rejected by Sonny, unloved, second best (as did Morgan) since they both felt they were in the shadow of Michael. Kristina’s issues with Sonny were so emphasized, which is why they showed her going from an abusive relationship with Keifer to an unrequited infatuation with Nathan…and her manipulative cries for attention. So, to suddenly do a complete turnaround was a bit out of the blue…but, still…one that could be believed. Personally, I’d find it much more plausible if she were bi…she was so boy crazy (to negate that part of her seems unrealistic.)

I just can’t stand her with Parker. I’ve never been so turned off by a fictional couple. There’s just nothing about them that works for me…I just fast forward thru them.

Helen H, one gay couple was enough? The gay couple that nobody sees? Yes, I can see that representation is plenty enough with Brad and Lucas! Let’s bring back the young man so that EVERY Port Charles resident actually seen in the canvas is heterosexual, and the enough gay couple off the canvas. Settled!

Hannah, why are you agreeing with Helen? The one who is advocating that Brucus is enough, off the canvas, rarely-if ever-seen?

    Shay replied

@Hannah…I think many of us would agree we would rather see “Brucas!” They made a much more interesting and enjoyable couple because we were already familiar and engaged with them first as individuals. Lucas was a beloved character born from GH legacy families and his compelling, poignant backstory was one with which longtime viewers were previously apprised, thus no “filling in of the blanks” was required where he was concerned. And Brad? Whilst his initial predatory behavior was admittedly a bit off-putting in the beginning for some of us, he eventually became a fan favorite for his comically sly chicanery in the hospital lab and his sweet, heartwarming friendship with the equally snark-loving Britt. (Bring her back!) By the time these two guys “got together,” we felt a separate affection for each character, so their relationship was one worth championing. On the other hand, there is this highly difficult version of Kristina who has forever been a handful and not easy to love dating way back to her earlier years in Port Charles….whether she was crushing on unsuitable boys, ignoring her schoolwork or just being generally rebellious, she was eminently unlikeable. Returning her character to Port Charles in the form of that same charmless and willful adolescent was a big mistake and served to play into the extremely inequitable appearance between herself and the “older woman,” Parker. Moreover, Krissy’s unappealing, juvenile behavior made many wonder why such a well-educated, worldly woman like this professor would even bother to waste her time and effort on such a silly, sullen little miss who still comes off as a spoiled child despite her supposedly now-adult status. It seems to me the personality traits of each of these characters probably contributed as much of a role in the perception of a “mother-daughter” dynamic between them as did their actual physical looks. When these considerations were combined, they simply made for a very awkward and unconvincing pairing of two people, period.

Yes, Mary….weren’t Val and Kristina fun to watch???? Breath of fresh air. Parker is all about doom and gloom. Completely different way of thinking. Her aura s**ks.
Furthermore, at the risk of being labeled ageist, which is soooo redundant, the age difference has everything to do with it.
As Shay so poignantly brought out, Kristina has “mommy issues”, ergo the need to ‘glue’ herself to a mother-figure in Parker.
I find Parker extremely dull, prim and proper which negates her actions, as a teacher.
Again, this has all to do with the writing….it was as different as night and day with Valerie….light, harmless “girl-talk” looking like it could have developed into something else.

I repeat: at best! The mind boggles!

It shouldn’t be that boggling Kristi. I barely ever fast forward and I suddenly find myself doing it through the relentless discussions about Morgan between Sonny and Carly (which I originally defended finding their grief very realistic). Now, they just cut into airtime with redundancy when the much more interesting story is Jason’s return. As for Parker? I fast forward her immediately. I just simply find the storyline boring…and the couple cringe-worthy. Not because of age, not because of gender…they just come off as mother/daughter, teacher/student when they’re together. Their “vibe” is different, their conversations are uninteresting and center mostly (and repeatedly) on whether they should be seen together. When they’re not discussing that they’re discussing Kristina’s schooling or lack thereof. Spending moments of one’s life watching them is the definition of wasting time.

    Kristi (KrispyOz31) replied

@ Rebecca1 It is indeed mind boggling to comment on something if you’ve fast forwarded through it. If you don’t like the s/l, that’s perfectly fine, but to comment when you’ve not watched hardly makes someone’s opinion valid. That would be like me saying, “I didn’t watch Wonderwoman but it’s shite”, then expecting my opinion to be a true measure. I would expect an intelligent reader to differentiate a valid opinion versus one that is null and void.

    Reply

    Rebecca1 replied

Hi Kristi…not so. I and anyone else who fast forwards has obviously watched enough of a particular story to know they don’t like it and have no interest in it. It would follow that the decision to fast forward was made AFTER coming to that conclusion by initially watching the story line in question and seeing enough to know they’re not into it/them.

I can see getting annoyed if you feel that a character (s) represent a life choice that is important to you…and if you feel that these characters in particular are being dismissed because of who/what they represent. As has been mentioned, many are not against a same sex relationship…they’re just not interested in these two, nor am I. As I’ve said, I don’t feel the chemistry or enjoy their time on screen.

Believe me I’ve been quite outspoken against ageism…I abhor it. I am very quick to react to comments about “too old” etc, etc…so I understand feeling strongly about a character (s) that, though fictional, represent a a segment of people in real life. But while there are a handful of viewers who express anger and complete distaste for same sex couples, I think the majority who don’t like this couple just don’t…like this couple! So, it’s not like you saying, “I didn’t watch Wonderwoman but it’s shite…” because we DID watch…and then fast forwarded. And by the same token if you feel they haven’t been on long enough for us to feel that way which prompts some to fast forward, I’d say it’s the same amount of time it took for you and others to like them.

She’s old ER than Kristina. Yes. That’s not what makes them cringe-worthy to some. I personally think, and feel, it’s because Lexi LOOKS like she’s 12, even though in realtiy a 14 year age gap isn’t unrealistic. If Kristina was played by another 20-something year old actress…say Kelly Thiebaud back…(back in 2012) Kelly was 26 when she appeared on the show…the pairing wouldn’t look or feel odd. So, no…it’s not about a “cougar” or “old” lesbian and Kristina. It’s more a matter of the interaction and appearance which makes them rather uncomfortable to watch. Most objected to the pairing, Celia? You mean the homophobic GA? Hate speech is everywhere on social media, particularly rampant on fb. Yes, there is some ageism commentary, yours included, I note in one of your posts you consider the age factor problematic despite both being consenting adults and willing participants. But what you and other members of the GA fail to recognize is that this pairing is hugely popular. Negativity on twitter (the benchmark of social media) is minute, and Twitter impressions (again, the bench mark of social media), from every corner of the world, across a 4hr period, are 1 million+ when their storyline is airing. Ratings (the ultimate benchmark) improve astronomically, again when they’re in an episode. Add to that, if the pairing wasn’t popular the s/l would not have been revisited 3 times. Ashley Jones returned due to her own popularity and the popularity of this pairing. She has said as much in interviews. They’ve also consistently polled in the top 5 couples for daytime television. Ashley Jones also consistently polls in the top 5 actresses and Lexi Ainsworth consistently polling in the top 10. There have been problems with the storyline moving forward in 2017 and the lesbians seems of little importance-that’s on GH! But do not confuse this with issues of negativity for this pairing. A little research goes a long way!

    Hi, Maya,
Thank you for your reply. I’d like to make clear that I do not participate in Social Media…..I am not on Facebook, I do not have a Twitter account etc. I consider such things “dangerous”.
MF is the only forum to my liking and of which I am a part.
I do not think I have said anything derogatory about the age factor between “Kristina” and “Parker”. What I did say is that age does have a lot to do with it when it comes to generational views. I should have expanded my interpretation.
But, love is love. We cannot help with whom we fall in love. I have said the same about heterosexual couples on soaps. SOAPS: key word here. So, why me? MAYA? Hmmmm.
Yes, most objected to the pairing….this is what I ‘heard’ when reading the comments. Are you telling me how/what to think? LOL….
All I have said was that the pairing did not stir the senses, as it were, for me. It was a ‘dormant’ relationship……stale….no fervor…one night stand and gone the next day, returning with this great love of the ages? C’mon….terrible writing. I believe this is what most here are saying.
    no malicious intent here.
Then, of course, there are the gay-bashers and bigots. I am not one of them. …barking up the wrong tree, perhaps?
Not once did I say mother/daughter. You are confusing me with others.
Furthermore, I do not pay attention to statistics concerning homosexuality or heterosexuality—not interested—not my thing. ….just as soap rating-reviews do not interest me. I pay no attention to such….
I do believe that people should live their life as they see fit.
I must have said this a billion times. I am a straight, married woman….and, two of my best friends are gay. These guys have been my friends since grade school….( one of them is godfather to my little boy)…..so, your “sermon”, LOL, is directed towards the wrong person.
    Stay well…..great post. Very informative.

    Maya replied

@Celia You consistently preach the need to respect the opinion of others, yet you insult me with sarcasm and suggest I wrote a “sermon”. Like you said to another poster, “You dare much…’. Yes, a little sarcasm in response to yours.

You also imply I am perhaps lumping you with the “gay-bashers and bigots”. If I felt that was the case I would have simply stated it. Full disclosure, I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I do wonder why you feel the need to consistently state in several of your posts that you’re not in this category.

“The age difference has everything to do with it” is what you stated. Enough said.

The main issue I have is that you repeatedly make blanket statements as if they’re fact. You stated, “MF is the only forum to my liking and of which I am a part”. Your opinion is one thing, but you consistently make generalizations as if it applies to “most people”. Most people are not opposed to this s/l. Most people do not believe this pairing lack chemistry. MF (no offense Michael-I love this site), is not exactly rampant with commentary, but even in here there are a diverse range of opinions. There is also clear witten evidence of the popularity of this s/l and this pairing on numerous other major forums. Stepping outside the bubble of MF and exploring social media forums, reading data research (twitter iterations, ratings etc…) would provide you with some further insight. That, of course, is entirely up to you.

Irrespective of anything else, expect to be called out if you continue to make generalizations without any evidence, particularly if there is clear evidence to the contrary.

I don’t think Christina and Parker “left the building” because of a problem telling the story. I just think the majority of viewers aren’t taking to these two as a couple. Of course there’s no way of knowing unless they actually did a survey but even on this site there are many, including me, who find this coupling uncomfortable to watch. And I’m ALWAYS an advocate of individual choice and have no problem with age difference AT ALL…but these two, as written, just seem way off the mark. Perhaps if they’re written differently IF they come back together they’ll win over more of the viewers…but the way they were currently portrayed Parker really DID come off as the teacher…in every way. A kid and her initiation. Maybe if it was done for that purpose alone…as Kristina becomes aware of her attraction and this is her first foray into same sex relationship it would be more palatable. After all, many a boy has had his first experience with an older woman.

But as far as chemistry? It just wasn’t there. I cringed when watching them…as they whirled by in fast forward motion.

Parker and Kristina’s story is similar to a lot of people. Age is not a factor. You don’t HAVE to be with someone your own age to make it work. Look at a lot of celebrity couples as examples. Pristina does not have to follow some perfectly laid out plan. This is what makes it a soap. The fact that the actresses can convey a paragraph of dialog in one look is real chemistry. Ashley and Lexi have it in spades. They’re both straight, and took on these rolls knowing that they might be hated not for their acting, but for their characters. They feel your love and hate toward them because of their ‘age difference .’ All we ask as fans and those who’ve walked in their shoes, is to not attack the actresses personally.

Homosexuals are HUMAN, with feelings as everyone else.

Yes, I remember Neil’s and Victoria’s ( Heather T) engagement. It did not last…everyone assumed it was because or racial differences.
I don’t blame the network/writers for trying to introduced mixed marriages or homosexual couples, Kay…..the winds of change have always been just a step behind us….all we need is that extra gust, as it were.

What a waste of something that could be a rich storyline given they have tires to people that go way back. It’s our opinion…people can argue up and down 5th Avenue; say we are wrong ( which makes no sense since it’s an opinion not fact)—we may agree or disagree; that’s as far as it should go.
Personally, I think Sonny, Chandler’s Will and Paul are very convincing as gay couples/characters.
Thus, either use such actors ( who can perform the role), or use actual gays. It’s that simple.
I could never understand why gays are not employed to act as gays—themselves. Gays always play straight on soaps. Why? Is there a policy against that? Am I mistaken? I can’t think of any gay person playing a gay character.

Isn’t this supposed to be part of the storyline, younger older women, Lexi and Ashley are playing a role, and they are fantastic. They have a connection and feelings they cannot control they have tried, the age thing is not important when it comes to the heart. They can help each other grow as a couple and as individuals. Kris is great for Parker she speaks her mind, wears her heart on her sleeve and impulsive. Parker can help tame Kris impulsiveness when needed, Kris also boosts Parkers confidence so she becomes brave and steps up and follows her heart she is a confidence booster when it comes to love and following your heart. Kris withdrawing from MBA course, not Parkers fault, but Kris impulsiveness she wants love, Parker can help her get back on track with school. You complain about their looks they are beautiful, would it make a difference to you if one wasn’t as attractive as the other? Or is it because same gender? I think that is the problem, people love who they love it is 2017. There are a lot worse things on TV than two consenting adults continuing their journey. Their journey started out rough but that’s just it, a journey for them together their love. I hope when they come back a lot more time is invested in them onscreen, not off screen because you miss so much People say they FF through them well they have probably had only a little over an hour together screen time in over a year, that is sad They communicate on a totally different level Ashley can speak with her eyes and expressions I cannot believe how she does this so well and Kris totally gets it and reads her so well. I read comments on other peoples posts and the do not even know that their fav. got killed off or left the show, they just want to voice their neg. opinion, which is fine but don’t comment on something you have no clue about just to see you name on social media. These two beautiful talented women deserve to journey together and be happy in their love for each other. Come back soon we will be waiting.

I think you make valid points, Donna, and the way you see Kristina and Parker is quite a nice telling of their story. Unfortunately, it doesn’t translate that way for many of us. I can only speak for myself but for me, it has nothing to do with two women or two women of different ages. Rather, it is THESE two women together. Some couples work; some don’t. As Sandy J said below, it’s subjective. I find their story boring, I find them lacking chemistry and I feel uncomfortable watching them. I didn’t feel uncomfortable watching Morgan and Ava, (younger/older) and I didn’t feel uncomfortable watching (same sex couples) Brad and Lucas or Lucas and Felix or Krstina and Valerie. I just find no interest in Parker and Kristina and watching them is not entertaining, interesting…I have no desire to see them…I wouldn’t tune in to watch their story…I wouldn’t look forward to GH if I knew they were the story of the day. Again, subjective.

I’m open to change. If they come back and for some reason they’re written as a more dynamic couple with more to talk about then should we/shouldn’t we…if Parker did ACT like Kristina’s teacher maybe I wouldn’t see her that way. Just a fail on every level in my book.

Whether there was chemistry between the two actresses is purely subjective; I prefer to comment on the writing. In the storyline, I believe Alexis is at fault for blaming Parker without actually LISTENING to her own daughter and HEARING how Kristina feels about her older lover. That would have been the Alexis I expect, not the blaming Alexis we’ve been subjected to.
I hope that TPTB will bring Lexi Ainsworth back sooner rather than later, with or without Ashley Jones. Kristina is a member of a core Port Charles family, and Alexis should have all three of her daughters close by. But that’s just me.

There should have been conversation between mother and daughter…..instead Alexis is very adamant in giving her daughter the time and respect, as an adult , to pour our her heart, albeit I gather it is difficult when it comes to one’s own child. My kids are still very young….I am not looking forward to that, LOL.
I am guessing that anything Kristina says will fall on deaf ears.
Yet, I still feel the pairing falls short of euphoric. As a first-time lesbian encounter/experience for Kristina, Mount Vesuvius should have ‘spouted’ off….but, I felt nothing.
Normally, I get into a scene,…..I feel the emotion. Nada!!

So, once more a discussion regarding FICTIONAL soap opera characters has descended into slinging aggressively nasty comments toward those with whom some disagree….why? It never seems to fail that one side feels they have certain divine rights to insult, impugn and/or otherwise belittle those who perhaps hold opinions counter to their own, despite those said beliefs often being expressed logically, respectfully, sans rancor, benignly or even humorously, in some cases. To respond in such an uncivilized fashion crosses the line from simply stating one’s personal beliefs to outright bullying in the name of advocating for a cause…we’ve seen it here many times before regarding various subject matter and, lo and behold, it is happening again. Most of us just want to come here to enjoy and take part in a fun and friendly forum regarding soap storylines and characters, yet inevitably, this normally pleasant experience rapidly turns into something ugly and unnecessary when a hot-button issue is introduced. I have no problem with those of you who express thoughts which don’t comport with my sentiments, but please dispense with projecting nefarious and unflattering motivations to the ideas of others who don’t march in lockstep with your particular world view. In addition to not being very nice, it also contributes to a really unwelcoming environment which can intimidate less forthright individuals into not participating, as has been too frequently observed in the past. This goes for the gay-bashing, as well. Khristi is right about that. I am glad Kristina and Parker are gone. Not because of the gay factor ( if that were the case, I would not beg for Brad and Lucas to stay on regularly), but because of the insipid story. I did not buy it.
Therefore, some should keep their ‘distaste’ to themselves.
Yes, we like to exchange opinions….enjoy the banal banter without insults. But, I see new names here, Shay….it’s so easy to ‘kick’ others under the protection of one’s computer.
Then there are those who bully in a more sophisticated way. Sorry state of affairs. Disrupters!

This isn’t your forum so dispense with the passive aggressive commentary. Seems some posters here are blinded by their own bias.
Kristina and Parker were far from insipid. And name calling? You should try some deep self reflection honey. Cannot wait for the return,of Parker and Kristina.

You do know that nefarious means criminal, right? And Shay, spare us the diatribe. Your entire paragraph is pointless really. Parker and Kristina deserve tbe opportunity to show the audience the rest of their love story on screen. I am looking forward to their return.

I’m glad this story is over. I used to like Kristina, but she’s no fun now. Just cruel and whiny. And Parker? She comes off as a manipulative sleaze taking advantage of a young girl. If Kristina returns in the future, I hope they’ll write a better story for her. Maybe with Val.

Kristina was hardly cruel and whiny in the date scene.
Parker has had lackluster writing for sure but the name calling is par for the course with the Pristina detractors and again, says more about YOU than a fictional character. Shame on your pathetic post.
And Val as a LI is never happening so forget about it.

The amount of hate for this story line is just ridiculous. If you don’t like the pairing that’s fine, but don’t come up with absurd reasons. For the people who are saying Kristina is too young that is just wrong because she is an ADULT. She can make her own decisions regarding her own love life. The age difference may bother those who are not used to seeing gay relationships, but do those same people have issues with Luke & Laura, Sonny & Emily, Ava & Morgan, etc. I’m guessing probably not. Pristina is such an important story line to tell as it is very relevant today. I have enjoyed every moment of Kristina and Parker, and truly hope they’ll be back soon. They never had Parker interact with Sonny or many of Kristina’s family members. There just seems to be much more to tell in this story and hope they make a quick return. I also would like to learn more about Parker as they started to do that back in August. The Pristina fan base is large and strong, and we are not going to back down.

I agree, doesn’t matter if young or old age is just a number. Yes Kristina is young but she ‘s an adult who’s following her and the same with Parker. It would be nice for them to come back and see how this story goes on.
I like to say this just from watching Kristina and Parker one thing is that I admire Kristina for opening up to her parents about her sexuality.

I DEFINITLEY want to see Kristina and Parker return to Port Chuck! Regardless of your personal views or status…their story is RELEVANT and REALISTIC in today’s world and should be told! The GH writers and producers really dropped the ball with this one. The writing was choppy and the characters (at least Parker) very under developed. There was no time to really see and understand the journey Kristina was going thru and also understand Parker’s history. How can the GA relate to them if they were not given the opportunity to care about them! I feel cheated and frustrated by GH and how they have not once but TWICE cut this storyline short. I do not get it! Do the right thing GH powers that be and bring these two exceptionally talented acrtresses back and FAST!

Lexi and Ashley should come back. They make Pristina work. Gh dropped the ball on this. We need representation in daytime. The age difference is just an excuse to hide homophobia. No one complains when a younger actress is paired with an older actor.

The Pristina storyline was the only reason I watched General Hospital. I thought the chemistry between the the two actresses was amazing as well as their acting. I did not like the Kristina & Valerie pair. The story worked because of all the drama and history between Parker & Kristina. I also was impressed with the depth and complexities of both characters, especially ASHLEY Jones. Very Well written!
I was soooo disappointed how the long build up of their story ended.

I hope they we get a chance to see them happy together on the show since it took so long for them to get together.

I haven’t been watching the show since their departure.
