157 February 1st, 2013 Michael Easton’s Heartfelt Message To Fans: “Due to some legal this and that, I cannot be at GH After February 8th!”

If you woke up this morning, you may have seen the touching message posted from soap opera favorite, Michael Easton (John, GH) from his facebook page.   And now what many have been concerned about has come to pass.   Due to the legal issues surrounding the usage of original One Life to Live character John McBain, Michael Easton’s time at General Hospital has come to a halt!   Just how this will play out in the end between Prospect Park and ABC remains to be seen.  But for now it certainly looks like McBain cannot be part of the Port Charles canvas.

Easton posted a message alerting fans not to send birthday gifts to him at General Hospital’s Hollywood studios because as of now his last tape date at GH is February 8th.   Here is the post below!

“I heard a rumor of some lovely people who were going to stop by the studio for a certain riff raff’s birthday. Some others who wanted to deliver a cake. Even more wonderful folks who wanted to send cards and treats and I want you to know I am incredibly humbled by these gestures but unfortunately I will not be around to enjoy them. I’ve been informed, that due to some ongoing legal this and that, I cannot be at “General Hospital” after February 8th and since I know many of you go to great trouble to do something special, I just don’t want to see anybody’s efforts go to waste (especially the lovely person who always sneaks in the fine Irish Whiskey). If it’s not too bold, may I suggest a donation to The American Cancer Society instead. Then some good will have come out of this.

Didn’t mean to upset anybody, was just trying to address the birthday stuff. Honestly not sure what the future holds but I think it’s going to take some time and some very bright people to resolve it. Thank you again for all your kindness and support.   …Miss you guys already. Michael”

So what do you think of the news soapers?  Upset that Michael cannot tape any more episodes for now at GH?  Are you hoping that Michael shows up on the new One Life to Live?  Do you want something to be worked out for Easton to appear on both shows?  Would you rather have Michael on GH as Caleb the Vampire, if that is the only way he could be part of the canvas?  How would you like to see this contractual predicament settled? Weigh-in on this huge conundrum!

    I really hope that John will come back to OLTL!!!! I know his fans will follow him. He really does seem like a great guy Michael that is, John is such an essential part of OLTL though so heres hoping he returns.

    Nope. I’ve been a fan of his since his Port Charles days. If Prospect Parks destroys the storyline GH has built, I won’t watch. You don’t speak for all ME or OLTL fans. Remember a lot of fans were fans of both OLTL & GH – viewership isn’t exclusive.

    Remember Cassie that GH destroyed OLTL storyline (JOLIE) for GH ratings. PP has to rebuild that story all together, because of total nonsense s/l of Sam & John-I guess that is why I don’t watch GH anymore!

    I totally agree with you, Rose and I am a Michael Easton and OLTL fan. I start watching GH to see the 3 characters from Llanview and when they go so will I.
    I don’t intend to give anytime at all to ABC.

    I want all three former OLTL stars to remain in character on GH, with the possibility of crossovers as needed to the reboot. Those of us who have followed them to GH have understood how they came to Port Charles and stayed. Why rip them off the GH canvas when the new OLTL will have less air time and a full cast already? It seems to me that the new OLTL will be well served by the cast list they’ve announced. JMHO.

    Oh, and I DON”T want Michal to end up as Caleb, Todd to be an alter, or Starr to…well, how would they ever do an alternate for her?…I want them as John, Todd and Starr or not at all.

    I Agree with you all too. Just the way they are not Alters or Vampires. But please keep them on GH somehow. Crossover or whatever, please work it out. OLTL fans have already adjusted to the changes now. Read some comments. Thanks

    I agree also. I wish this vampire sort would end. It’s really stupid. It didn’t work the first time around, why are we doing this? What’s next Casey the alien? They bought back Lucy and making her really stupid going on and on about a vampire. Let her run around town, give her a duck and Luke ! Plan the nurses ball, give Sabrina a makeover we all know she’s going to get. The girl is beautiful!

    These are soaps -no one lives happily ever after until the end. There will always be obstacles along the way. John & Natalie have spent more time in the last 2 years with other people than together. Same with Todd & Blair. You must have obstacles to make a storyline interesting.

    Now this is what class looks like soap fans! I loved him on OLTL and had really grown to like him on GH. This is why and everyone can yell at me that is ok, I was not excited OLTL was coming back in the way it is. I think you will see a cheap secondhand version. Anyone remember what they tried over at GL? Thanks ABC first you screw him out of a job with OLTL now your back for a 2nd run at GH.

    I totally agree with you. I haven’t watched AMC or OLTL since the 80′s so I have zero desire to follow the 2nd hand version of either show. I want Michael Easton to stay on GH!! I was his fan from Days as Tanner and it really stinks that ABC is knocking this poor guy out of a job.. Geez!!

    I have a feeling there are going to be hearts broken all over again when this watered down version of AMC and OLTL come back … online. If the rumors are true and they want to go “much younger” then forget about your shows as you knew them.

    I made peace with their demise, now many will be regretting what they wished for.

    k/kay, personally I think they will work it out so Michael Easton can stay … in whatever capacity. But yeah, it has to be a mess over there.

    I had heard someone make a point that Kelly Monaco’s Sam had a hard time when she first came to GH and that she didn’t really click with anyone until she was paired with Jason. I remember she had trouble with Jax and Sonny. With Lucky, there was some potential, but she has chemistry in spades with Michael Easton. I think it might because it IS Michael Easton. Looking back at the old PC clips, “Caleb” had chemistry with everyone (Livvie, Tess, Gabbie, Alison, Elizabeth, etc.) I think Frank and Ron will do whatever they can to keep Michael Easton at GH because of this.

    I also heard a rumor that they are going dark over there that week anyway (not taping) so they could very well get this all hammered out and have him back when they resume taping.

    Christine when Greg Vaughn was playing Lucky that is when they paired KM with him for a while. Anyone remember the hot tub scene with GV yikes hot in the kitchen. I never thought Jason & Sam were all that romantic more like partners in crime, however I do know I am in the minority.

    I agree! These don’t sound like they will be the same shows at all! There will be lots of new characters & the original AMC & OLTL actors will be pushed aside!

    Yes, k/kay, the infamous hot tub scene. :-) Lucky and Sam could have worked but they made her watch Jake get abducted in the park and not say anything. But then they ruined Lucky and Elizabeth and Elizabeth and Jason enough times so it is par for the course.

    And I didn’t think Jason and Sam were all that either. I think he had much more chemistry with Elizabeth ever since she found him after she lost Lucky to the fire. It is unfair they never got their story, but it is really unfair that Jason and Sam got the shaft the way they did. Things happen, but now they can make her another half of a super couple with Michael Easton (whomever he plays). Personally he could play Caleb Morley or Stephen Clay for all I care. Both characters (whether dead or undead) were the most engaging that I have ever seen Michael Easton. I tried to follow him to OLTL, but he was boring and so was John McBain’s brother recast. Nathaniel Marsten was better, but I know why they had to recast.

    I really do think TPTB will do anything they can to retain Michael Easton for Kelly Monaco’s Sam so I am not really worried, but I can imagine how stressful it is for the actors. That is unfair.

    Christine I watched Port Charles on Soapnet at the gym with my girlfriend when we were living in LV,NV. I am not real familar with all the stories on it who was Stephen Clay? Soapnet use to really show some goold old soaps now we still get it here on Direct TV I think but it just is not the same.

    k/kay, Stephen Clay was the persona that Caleb created when he came back from the “dead” after Livvie stabbed him through the heart.

    I had forgotten all about that part. I think it was the Naked Eyes arc. Livvie, Jack, Lucy, etc., are all at this concert and then Caleb comes on stage singing as this Stephen Clay, but they all know it is Caleb. Alison’s mother, Elizabeth, does not seem that wise, however. She ends up getting bit by him when she breaks up with him. But it was a really cool thing. Michael Easton actually sang and was quite the rock star.

    I sort of wish I could watch more of these clips or the whole show all over again because like Lynn Herring said, the show really was ahead of its time. Anyway, my two little boys demand too much time and I am not really one for watching TV on the computer as it hurts my eyes. :-)

    ABC was the one doing the screwing if you ask me. PP was nice enough to allow ME/John McBain temporarily on screen for GH. And like OLTL fans know – ME made it count and did a hell of a job, but he belongs in Llanview!

    I don´t think so Tali. PP doesn´t need any of them for the reboot. They need to write ALL stories from the scratch. They got a full cast to work with. This became an ugly fight at the expense of the actors. PP knows exactly what they are doing by pushing this through. The actors can´t work.
    So IMO by doing so they deliberately go for the jagular.

    PP is benefiting from GH having Todd, John & Starr on GH, Tali. As much as viewers would like to take full credit, the truth is that Cartini, GH and ABC kept Llanview alive on GH and kept interest and ratings high. ME started in Port Charles long before he ever arrived in Llanview. And one more point: why don’t the Actors’ wishes count? As much as fans would like to think *they* are the only ones that matter, the truth is Roger and Kristin never wanted to sign with PP and refused to do so. Just because fans want them back on OLTL doesn’t mean they should be forced to return. They aren’t indentured servants.

    Michael Easton can stay @ GH, but John McBain belongs in Llanview. I’ll miss him, but his character is OLTL story. He can stay as a vampire in PC that’s ok with me. I really blame ABC in the first place for this mess, they are the ones that canceled the ABC #1 soap(OLTL)! General Hospital benefitted by having a later cancellation date (Sept 2012) and fans retaliated and made a difference.

    Totally agree! I WAS a huge fan of OLTL, but I will not watch now. The actor should get to choose where he wants to work!!! I love John, Todd, & Star on GH I dont want to watch them on OLTL.

    I’m with you Alicia. I don’t understand why many fans are blasting PP. It was ABC that threw these characters/actors in the trash, and told soap fans to drop dead. I don’t watch any ABC shows other than GH and Castle, which I record only. When GH goes, there will be only 1 show I watch on that network.

    I wish success for PP in the future, but for Michael to get what he wants. I just hope he wants to return to OLTL.

    Sad to see him HAVE to go! I am sure they will work something out. I am not a vampire fan, but for his sake and for Kelly Monaco’s sake… it would be nice if he can come back as a different character and do both shows if he can. Kelly and he do have good chemistry. The storylines are working to give the characters some cover in the event that they can do both… with the exception of Starr. Todd could come back as an alter and be a different character. I just hate to see anyone lose work in this economy and hope it all works out for the best! Michael you will be missed!

    This is just a product of a poorly handled situation, from the beginning. The actors and fans are then and now facing the consequences and feeling the repercussions.

    I was an avid OLTL (and GH) watcher especially in the last few years it was on. I was heartbroken over the cancellation, elated when they announced it was going online, crushed when it didn’t come to fruition and swore off soaps completely when Jolie was torn apart and McBain was brought to GH.

    I’m following all this nonsense with PP from a distance and in all honesty I’ll take a look at the new OLTL if it happens. But I am not getting my hopes up! Now more than ever I think that whole episode with cancelling of OLTL and then the PP announcement was all a rouse to quiet upset fans.

    It’s sad the last on the list to be considered were the actors and then the fans. …and so it continues.

    I do not know what has happened to my beloved GH! I have watched them for 20 plus years, but NO MORE! Tthis news does not surprise me, I HATED the fact that OLTL was invading GH! I know the writters are trying new things, but for me, honestly, when Steve (Jason) left & they dropped Robin’s story line, I dropped them! I cannot stand the direction the show is going, nor the charachter story lines. Sonny has faded away, I’m sick of Kate, it was sad when Trey died. Lulu & Maxie are pathetic with their baby dance! These story lines drag on forever! This whole Vampire crap has definatley turned me completly off! Now they bring in new characters & kill them off the same week? I hate all the “old” players coming back. They need a fresh new start, not go backwards & pick up on these stupid played out stories of yesteryear! As for me, I am once a gian a Y&R fan & very much enjoy seeing Steve Burton acting again!

    I disagree with you totally. No big loss with SB leaving. As I have said many times..through the ALMOST fifty yrs of watching GH…actors come and go. The fanatic fan is hell on wheels…I know this as I previously was one of Anthony Geary’s biggest. That being said….SB has given the obvious answers to the hundreds of questions about his reasons for leaving. BYE BYE. One person does not make the entire show. To many it was obvious his move….nepotism to a common practice. Good for him and Jill Phelps. But remember GH is why he has gotten to where he is. Also remember the mess known as GH that RC and FV have fixed. I wish him all the luck in the world..but when Phelps starts doing to YR what she did to GH..the resentment will then be YR fans. PHELPS has already began working her”magic”….getting rid of people to make room for……..Two of the first ones that got the axe were Genie Francis and Stephen Nichols. Oh, wait a minute she did that to the same two people when she was the ep of GH. And although I loved loved loved OLTL the last two years……seeing that GH had the fantastic gift of FV and RC I do not know what the new story will EVER live up to the previous storytelling. GH is better than it has been in yrs and as a veteran viewer…..I can honestly say AMEN…..no more GH/Mob stories. Spread the story around which is what GH was famous for many years ago.

    I’m so pissed right now. I don’t want the actors as different characters on GH. Its the actor PLAYNG the characters, that we love. This is crap. I haven’t been felt this disppointed in a soap in a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time. And PP recasting Starr? That’s been hers since she was kid…it will never work.

    Easton, Howarth and Alderson, who are also affected, should remain where they are contracted at ABC and GH! PP has just messed with their lives and their jobs! I will not support PP at all! Yes the character names can go back but screw PP, leave the actors alone on GH! If they refused to go back to PP then more power to them! Settle the impasse and keep the actors on GH!

    No Vampires on GH…Poor storylines to mix in with the storylines they have. And Lucy Coe, Todd and Heather are NUTS. The only one I would keep out of those 3 is Todd. He can have an alter and come back. Heather and Lucy are worn out.

    The whole situation is Bull. What about the other two characters from OLTL ? They don’t have any legal issues as well being from OLTL also! (todd & starr) . Michael Easton should be allowed to continue on Gh & do OLTL on line as well. This is one of the main reasons I started watching Gh when OLTL was cancelled last year! Something has to be worked out for him. I like his character a lot & would miss him …This is not fair
    at all! I am really angry! Again what about Starr & Todd charcters they are original OLTL
    characters also! This is BOGUS!!!!! I would like Michael Easton to continue his role as John McBain not back to being Caleb. This is INSANE!

    Would love to see John McBain stay on GH with romance storyline between him and Sam. Don’t know why McBain can’t stay since he doesn’t belong to the OLTL storyline anymore. It wouldn’t be the first time an actor switched to another soap.

    I knew this with fans is all about Sam/Kelly’. Well the three can stay on General Hospital but the names Todd, John Starr belong to One Life To Live and PP. Some fans didn’t want the three on GH in the beginning and now you are screamming for them to stay. I guest the other fans didn’t watch One Life to Live or you would know the characters belong on that show. If they want to stay on GH then change their names to something else. Then Sam fans want feel so bad that she doesn’t have a man in her life like Carly. I’m not impressed with Starr and Michael. She leads him around just like with Cole. Todd has become the clown on the show, and what ever his dirty deeds are he never pays for his crimes, just like Sonny.
    I would like to see John back with Natalie and their son. Todd has another daughter and a son in Landview. On GH they are never mentioned, and I realize GH fan could careless but OLTL fans would want to see that relationship and how it plays out. Starr needs to be around her sister and little cousin. Thou I never want Todd to have any interaction with Victor’s son. So to me the names should stay with OLTL of the three.
    The one thing OLTL should try to do is bring back Trevor St John to this show as I liked the more Mature Todd and not the Clown Todd I see on GH.
    One other thing GH don’t even try to bring Sam in Patrick’s orbit because Robin is still alive and the fans of this couple know it. This was just a rumor I had heard and I hope it’s not true, even if Patick’s storyline stinks except for little Emma.
    I will be watching OLTL to see how all of this is going to workout

    Very disappointed! Have loved Michael Easton since Days of Our Lives, although i didn’t watch OLTL regularly, did catch him on it a few times. Was so excited when he came to GH. Hope it works out that GH can keep him somehow, no matter what character he plays.

    Yes – keep Michael on at any cost…prefer not to have an actual vampire. He could just be a bad guy that was a vamp in Lucy’s delusions but he is too good to lose. Hate to lose Roger Howarth, too. Maybe Todd had a triplet brother as well? Starr isn’t a big deal for me.

    Prospect Park is starting to annoy me. If they take away Star and Todd too, I definitely won’t be supporting them. I understand they have the rights to these characters but they have fan base on GH now and the actors have relocated their lives to the west coast. Unless the actors WANT to come back to these shows, I feel it is wrong to take them away. And these are VERY popular characters. If they are thinking of recasting I don’t see that turning out well. There a many other characters on OLTL that aren’t being brought back as of right now, so I wish they would look into that. I’m SO BUMMED!

    I’m a longtime ABC soap fan. GH, OLTL, AMC, Port Charles … I’ve watched them all. Set my VCR, DVR, watched them on SoapNet. I’m disgusted by Prospect Park right now. The only reason Prospect Park is able to revive OLTL is because GH has helped keep interest alive by bringing Llanview to Port Charles. If GH hadn’t done this, and proven that interest was still there via strong ratings, PP wouldn’t be reviving OLTL & AMC now. Why PP would alienate viewers who have been longtime fans if both shows by hurting GH makes no sense to me. Talk about voting the hand that feeds you. Roger and Kristen DIDN’T sign on with PP initially – they DIDNT WANT TO. Michael dose hut how much of his decision is based on working with Cartini’s crew, who are now with GH? How doesbhurting actors that the fans love help PP? Taking their livelihoods away doesn’t help the new OLTL. Is PP trying to sabotage the new OLTL? Are they trying to hurt GH?

    I dont know why both companies couldnt work it out and do crossover stories like shows have done in the past. In the 1960s a character on GL went to AW and these shows were on different networks but then those behind the shows were connected to both soaps. OLTL characters got me back to GH. An aggreement to do temporary crossovers would bennifet each soap ratingswise by getting some GH followers to watch OLTL that they might not before and viceversa. But in the end its no big deal to me since its great to see a revival with the genre and the return of OLTL.

    OMG, I thought TPTB were doing all they could (the dual role) to safeguard this from taking place, what happened???? I loved John McBain with Natalie on OLTL, and I am truly enjoying the chemistry between he and Sam, and so wanted to see that relationship blossom, I really did :( . Michael Easton is a fine actor, and seems like a kind and genuine person, so if this is a decision that he made for he and his family, and/or is at least happy with this turn of events, than this is fine, but if somehow he was backed against a wall, then this upsets me for him. I wish Michael Easton much good luck and look forward to watching him, whether it be in Port Charles or Llanview. Now I wonder what will happen to Roger Howarth/Todd and Kristen Alderson/Starr???

    I agree with all those above who favor Michael Easton doing both GH and OLTL. I know they are on two separate coasts, which makes it geographically hard, but if Michael would be willing to do that, then I think that would be a great option. Since OLTL will only be a 30 minute format, I bet this can be done, if all parties involved are willing. This would truly be the ideal answer.

    In looking at Michael Easton’s Facebook page just now, I truly feel sorry for him, because it looks like he is caught in the middle of this, and probably has very little to no input on the status of John McBain, which is sad, considering this clearly affects the future of he and his family, and without him, John McBain would be totally different and starting from scratch. I hope the decision makers involved in this mess, wake up and see how this drama is not good for anyone involved, starting with the actors who bring these characters to life!

    I think the characters should and do belong to OLTL they were lent to GH with the terms that if they got it up and running they would return to OLTL. Tptb knew this and I’m sure the actors were also aware of this. They have only been on GH about 10ms with ME off alot of that where as they have a very rich and very long history at OLTl. I am hoping this does mean that the characters will be aloud to return to OLTL now as far as the actors contracts at Abc I feel they should be aloud to return to GH if they want under different characters I think they should be able to choose. As far as ME is concerned he is the only one of the three that signed at first with PP none of us really know but that could have a different impact on him just my own speculation. I’ve had trouble watching them in gH to me they never really fit in my mind

    I am actually stunned that there are a bunch of people on this board that actually FEEL for Michael Easton, the actor, and not the character. It sounds like he is very upset by what he has to do.

    For those of you who only want what YOU want, I hope the rumors are true – THAT MICHAEL EASTON GOES TO DAYS OF OUR LIVES! I don’t want him to go anywhere but stay at GH because he FITS and he seems happy there. Why tear him away from a place he has called home for the last year just because Prospect Park finally got their act together? It is not fair!

    I have a feeling the name, PROSPECT PARK, is going to end up being a name everyone loathes. Prospect Park – biting the hand that feeds them. Disgusting.

    To answer the other question, I would be elated if Michael Easton could come back after a little break from GH and play Caleb Morley, the MORTAL. I know they can do it.

    I knew this would hold true for John McBain. He’s the one character where the actor did sign on to portray his character on OLTL and is able to re-locate back to the east coast. Starr/Todd are other stories. Roger Howarth never signed on originally to OLTL’s first reboot, so he’s likely in the clear to remain on GH. And as for Starr, Kristen Alderson is in LA and recasting the role would prove to fail for fans who’ve seen her as Starr since the beginning of the character.

    Not sad to see McBain go; he’s been no help to the cast or show since he arrived. If anything, he’s been an annoyance and off-putting person.

However not the John McBain on GH so much, he is out of the OLTL character and hate him with Sam since I’m a loyal JOLIE supporter. Would like to see him back in Llanview where he belongs with Natalie and crossover as Caleb or whoever else in Port Charles to romance whoever the writers see fit as long as that is what he wants. Sorry folks, but John McBAIN doesn’t belong in Port Charles without Natalie and Liam. You can have Caleb tho.’ Good Luck to Michael Easton – at least whatever he chooses his fans will seek him out and support him.

    I love Michael Easton wherever he is! I was a fan on OLTL and love him on GH. It’s horrible that his life and job are being messed with in this way.

    I watched every episode of Port Charles when it was on and though I will say he was the sexiest vampire I’ve ever seen I would not like to see that whole vampire storyline revisited. If I want vampires I’ll watch Twilight.

    Leave him on GH as John McBain and if/when possible let him cross back to OLTL to help out the storyline there. Don’t make him sit on the sidelines and wait! He will be missed.

    It’s not PP’s fault. These actors had a contract and are bound by it. Either way they will work it out and the characters will go to OLTL or GH. I feel sorry for the actors because they uprooted their families and their lives to move to L.A. and now if they want to keep their jobs they may have to move back to the East Coast. For that reason alone I hope they get to stay on GH. Plus, I am enjoying the storyline on GH as I also was a big fan of Port Charles. But don’t worry…these characters and actors are very valuable with a huge fan base so they will land on one or the other. It just might take some time for the mucky mucks to work it out.

    PP shouldn’t take all the blame, ABC should not have put the in a contract that didn’t have an escape plan. they knew they leased them out to PP and I doubt PP was secret that they were still trying to fire them up. It was always a possibility so they should’ve written accordingly

    So many issues to address here! First, GL’s filming may have been horrible at the end, but at points the writing and the acting were stellar. Bottom line is as long as the creativity and consistency is there that is all that matters. GL failed because it ignored the audience and it was very inconsistent. The send off however was one of the best that I have seen in sometime IMO.

    Now as for the issue at hand! I would like to see Todd, Star, and John stay put in their characters and their actors on GH. They can do a crossover or two, I don’t care. Just keep them living in Port Charles. The person who commented on GH viewers understand what brought them to Port Charles is right. I wonder if Prospect Park will explain why Blair along with Skye are no longer looking for Tomas or is he Alcazar? Personally, I am disappointed that Ron C. will not have a chance to pen a resolution to that.

    As for Michael being Caleb Morely instead? No! I am fine with Easton playing both roles, but please rewrite the vampire thing as something Lucy made up in her mind to get over something. Personally, I don’t know why they had to address John’s resemblance to the “vampire.” Perhaps they were trying to be clever, but it’s a dangerous and risky move. I have faith that Ron can and will tell a good story, but I don’t see why it was necessary. Nobody has recognized or noticed a resemblance between Carly Jax and Ally Rescott. ABC soaps have all recognized each other’s towns as reality.

    As for the AMC and OLTL revivals. I was never a fan of AMC so I won’t be watching. I may check out OLTL to see what’s up, but doubt I will watch it as regularly as I did when in TV. I wish both shows best of luck, but I am not sold yet. Now if this were GL coming back I would be more excited!

    I think Michael Easton became an even better actor by being on GH
    and interacting with all their various actors and storylines. I especially
    liked him with Anna as his old mentor and Sam, too. I don’t care
    for the vampire crap at all, though…..but I’m sad to see McBain
    leave “General Hospital.” It was nice having him on as a good-guy
    cop who didn’t like the mob, at all. I can’t see myself keeping up
    with all the PP online soaps, as it’s more of an effort for me, but
    I guess ya never know. I’ll be really sorry to see Roger Howarth as
    Todd leave GH, too, it that’s how it goes. What a mess!!

    I’ve watched all the soaps on all the networks off & on for 40 years. I really enjoy the OLTL characters they have brought on to GH and the way they have incorporated them into Port Charles. I would hate to see Roger Howarth, Kristen Alderson or Michael Easton have to leave GH. I realize there are die hard AMC & OLTL fans out there however, I do not see the two shows being a long term success in an online format. I know I will not watch them. If this was going to happen then I would rather see Michael Easton stay in Port Charles as Caleb Morley, his former PC character if he cannot stay on the show as John McBain.

    I would LOVE to see ME return to OLTL to be w/Bo, Nat and Liam. My take is that he fits, gels well on the OLTL canvas vs Gh’s.

    But also, I want what the actors want. ME orig signed on w/PP but circumstances have changed, so I don’t know. I know KA and RH orig did not sign on.

    Also, for big pic reasons, I applaud PP for persevering and keeping the soap genre alive. They also licensed out ME to be on GH, so he can continue to work as a actor. As oppose to ABC who originally axed AMC/OLTL hence starting all of this and the complications. Also, as to my knowledge, ABC has greenlighted “The Katie Couric” show and that’s about it. Whereas CBS and NBC have greenlighted their daytime programming across the board. So ABC is iff when it comes to soaps, hard to trust’em on that level.

    I hope it all works out in the end. The actors are very talented and work hard, hope the best for them.

    Why is anyone expressing anger toward Prospect Park? Where is ABC admitting they royally screwed up, and where have they been the last year, knowing their other daytime program is dismal? Prospect Park is doing daytime drama a FAVOR. They are saving the genre and invigorating it, showing TPTB that people do need a daily escape from reality, and not with talk shows or reality shows. TPTB who moved OLTL characters over to GH to ease the pain should have thought about the consequences. If they loved the actors so much, they should have given them new names and new identities. They had their chance. To say, I won’t watch OLTL is acting like a petulant brat. Say that to Erika Slezak’s face. I will support Prospect Park 100%. They have every right to want to retain the CHARACTERS. I say recast all three of them. It will only be a matter of time before they “grow” on us, the viewers. There are enough veterans returning to OLTL to make me watch, and the new blood is just what the doctor ordered.

    Yeah, yeah, yeah, but Prospect Park is biting the hand that feeds them. They could do their online reboots WITHOUT these three. Had it not been for these three characters becoming integrated into GH, there probably would not be as much of a desire for OLTL to come back. By them being on GH, they kept Llanview alive.

    I don’t disagree that ABC screwed up too, they always do something wrong, but in all reality, Prospect Park could do this without the characters. Starr was leaving for LA anyway. Todd was going to jail. They are just being selfish and I am so glad that there are some that see that and not being selfish themselves for wanting the actors to have to uproot themselves for a half-assed version of what they are currently under contract to do.

    GH is a hit and a great ticket and GH uses McBain more than OL had used him..
    Anyways, all 3 would be going down to lower pay and standards if going back to online OL..
    They are now on the best soap, GH .. and they know that.
    They will not want to go with PP, never .. They have a sure thing going with GH, and they know that ..

    I really think Michael Easton is a wonderful guy and I so hate what ABC has done
    to him! I will try to watch OLTL and see what happens. I was never a GH fan probably because I just didn’t have the time. I sure hope something can be worked out but I understand if Michael decides to stay in CA since he did move his family.

    I can’t see Starr being recast since she has been on since she was a child but they can go back to the Victor story but I don’t see Trevor St John coming back. Time will surely tell what happens.

    But ABC/D certainly makes havoc for its employees!

    so change the names of the characters, but keep their description the same and just keep them as the characters are, just a different name. Like they all woke up the next morning with different names, but the same people know them and they’re still doing the same things. We fans know what’s going on. Just change their names. No big deal to me. I’d rather John McBain still be a police detective but now people call him maybe John Ravain, or such, and no big fanfare about ‘hey, you got your name changed.’ Rather him not have to be completely changed – like now he’s a vampire. He’d last much longer as police dectective than a vampire on GH!

    same for Todd and Star – probably change their last names…. just want to keep everyone the same, as much as possible.

    Apparently no one learned anything last year! Speaking for myself, I am a fan of the actors. They bring life to characters, and wherever they end up, I will be there. I won’t give up on the actors who remain on General Hospital either, but each time I get jerked around as a fan, it makes me less willing to try or support any new projects on ABC and now on Prospect Park. There has been a lot of burning of bridges which is unfortunate. Seriously, characters have been successfully going between shows for a long time. If Prospect Park wants to be truly ground breaking, and ABC wants to see future daytime shows survive on their network, stop acting like jerks, figure out how the two shows can share the characters nicely, for the forseeable future or run the risk of losing any remaining loyalty. It’s THAT simple.

    I support Roger, Kristen and Michael. Period. :)

    Trying to post on the update about all three characters and can’t so back here… strange.

    I am first and foremost for the actors and want them to have jobs and preferably the ones they want. I would hope that ABC and PP could work out something to allow all three to do both or do what they want and can do. If new characters are the only way to handle it and they have to recast… then they do that. Both sides should be trying to do what’s best for all and for both shows. It’s not like any and all couldn’t go back and forth… it’s a little less likely for Michael Easton’s character but totally possible for Roger and Kristen’s characters. I like the crossover ideas and I know they can make it work. We’ll have to see. If ABC were bringing OLTL back you know that FV would make it work for both shows if he could. Someday I would love to see a network just for soaps and have crossovers betwen all four or however many for short or longer durations. It’s a fun idea and let’s the actors get some exercise in a different way. We should be happy that we have two more shows coming back and that we have these issues to deal with at all. It’s all good!!! We are getting shows back again!

    When my original soaps went off the air on CBS, I was asked to switch to ABC from a friend. I was hooked! Why… because of John McBain, Todd, and Starr. (Todd was originally from my other soap that was cancelled). I can’t believe that this can happen. How can you not only put your actors/actress lives on hold due to legal issues… but your viewers. This is my only escape from reality and I enjoy my 37 minutes everyday. Please don’t take John, Todd, and Starr away. The original characters are my choice! The vampire story is ridiculous and boring!!!!! Happy Birthday Michael! I hope for your bday wish you get to stay on GH! Love ya!

    I feel for the actors. That being said, Roger, Kristen and especially Michael owe a lot of their success to One Life to Live. GH has fantastic legacy characters at its disposal. The characters of Todd and John are essential to OLTL. For OLTL to be successful, they need Michael and Roger and shouldn’t go with recasts. Using Michael and Roger as new characters on GH will be ridiculous and seem forced, as bad as the Sam and John relationship.

    Roger and Michael, please go home to Llanview. Your fans absolutely adore you in the roles of Todd and John.

    I respectfully disagree. The actors owe nobody anything. You can say they owe their success to a show or to the fans, but they are doing a job that they are paid to do.

    I read on another board wherein someone tried to say that fans do not follow actors they follow characters. I could not disagree more. The two men have worked on other shows besides OLTL. OLTL is not their bread and butter.

    And just how unfair is it to be strong-armed into having to go back east to work on something else when you have uprooted your life for over the past year? I can’t comment on what is being said or not, but that is the way it is coming across.

    The John/Natalie story does not need closure it needs Continuity!! Michael Easton originally signed up for PP because he said the couple (JOLIE) had alot of story left. I believe him!

    This is all business. First off PP loaned the characters that they purchased to GH for a year and now that year is over. ABCD canceled the best soap on the air when GH should have been gone. I have hated everything they have done to the OL characters on GH. John, Todd, and Starr’s history is with Llanview, not Port Charles or GH. They can easily make these actors new characters and I am sure the Calivia and Tarly fans will like whoever they are as much as Todd and John. PP should be allowed OL characters back. It is their right and GH should be written for GH. GH has not kept OL alive in anyway. All they have done is trashed everything that was left for us from ABCD. GH will survive and when it is canceled in a year maybe, just maybe, PP will be interested to have them online and all of the people that are saying PP will fail will be overjoyed that they may get to see their soap again. I know I am excited I will get to see my favorite soap, OLTL, again. I will take recasts. It doesn’t matter. I just want these charactes back where they belong, which is not GH.

    I´m pleased to see that the majority shows compassion for the actors. and at least try to respect their choices. PP should listen carefully to the comments and take a step back. Forcing actors out of their jobs won´t succeed.

    One last word to the so called fans who pretend they don´t care that the actors get jerked around, as long as they get their “fictional characters” back home. ….. SHAME ON YOU!

    I love John Mcbain so much but he belongs to go back to Natalie and Liam !!!! John and Natalie were meant to be together, they have been through so much together too, John, Natalie and Liam finally deserve to be a real family and I want John and Natalie to get married, the two of them never stopped loving each other or ended their relationship at all!!!! I think the story line about John being Caleb the vampire and Sam being livvie is so stupid, dumb and ridiculous!!!! I think that Natalie should move to Port Charles! I read that if All My Children and One Life To Live do come back both of them will just be on a new internet website on the computer and also they only will be thirty minutes long and four days a weeks too!!!! I just wish that they will be on TV again, not everybody has a computer to watch them on!!!!

    I want to see John McBain stay with GH and I hope that OLTL will share him if that has to be the way to keep him. Why can’t GH offer him a contract? Is that the legal stuff he was referring to? I really don’t want to see him as a Vampire or as Caleb so please try to find a way to work this out where GH can keep our Loyal – John McBain. He is everyone’s friend and is liked so much by everyone. Love his voice and the authority he seems to carry. Keep John McBain however long it takes to get him. He can go on leave for a while and reappear as our new GH Character again. I know everyone will be glad to see him. Lucy Coe is just a nut case and needs to be committed, even Kevin said he has done all he can do for her and is leaving her there. Her time is over if all she sees is Vampires and slaying now. Bye Bye Lucy…Hello John. ;)

    John has made his mark on GH and should be able to stay on. His presense is needed there after Steve Burton left.

    I feel strongly that Jolie belongs together, and for me that means Michael. He’s said that he does his best work with Melissa. Others disappear when they’re in a scene together. I’d be happy to share each actor.

    Dear Michael,
    First of all please send “Happy Belated” birthday to Michael Easton. Do you think the writers will ever invite Renee Elise Goldsberry on to gh? She and Michael Easton were amazing together.
    I think their acting could bring this “bazaar vampire” storyline out of it’s funk. I understand that it is a soap opera. But, many fans loved when these stories touched some sort of reality. Just, my opinion.
