Seriously a downer for Twin Peaks fans! Michael Ontkean, who portrayed the beloved role of Sheriff Harry S. Truman, has opted not to retun for the revival of the iconic eerie soap to air on Showtime.
TV Line which broke the news said a source close to Ontkean related, “Michael is fully retired from show business, and has been for many years.”
It appears though that the top law enforcer will now be played by Robert Forster, who has replaced Ontkean, although it’s unclear whether Forster will be playing Truman or a new sheriff character.
The casting of Forster also comes with Twin Peaks folklore! Apparently co-creator David Lynch originally thought of the actor for the role of Truman in the initial run of the ABC drama which first aired in 1990!
Currently, Twin Peaks is in production and fans are awating anxiously to find out if it will make it to air sometime in 2016, or not till 2017.
So, are you disappointed to hear Michael Onktkean is not returning? What do you think about Robert Forster presumably joining the cast as a sort of recast? Comment below!
