123 January 4th, 2013 MONDAY: Steve Burton To Appear On THE TALK With Big Announcement!

Looks like soap fans will finally get the answer as to when General Hospital favorite and Daytime Emmy winner, Steve Burton will begin to air on The Young and the Restless when he makes a very special appearance on this Monday’s episode of the hit daytime talk show, The Talk on CBS!

According to an official tweet from The Talk’s twitterfeed, they broke the news of Burton’s special guest appearance a few hours ago stating: “BIG NEWS: Daytime star @1SteveBurton appearing on #TheTalk this Monday w/ a special announcement! Tune in 1/7 2pm ET, 1pm PT/CT Don’t miss!”

Many are also hoping that Burton will reveal the part he will play in Genoa City upon confirming he is joining Y&R. Speculation has been running high that he is going to play Avery’s ex-hubby, although that has not been confirmed “officially”.

So soapers, will you be checking in To The Talk to find out what happens during Steve’s special announcement? Let us know!

Not me…I hate what Carlavati has done to GH…..it’s his fault for bringing the idiots over from OLTL. I have already started to watch Y&R and I will continue. The day that Starr came on GH I started watching it on DVR so I could FF her.

I quit watching and supporting GH because I got so sick of GH fans complaining about the OLTL characters being a part of the show…. I can’t wait for the day when OLTL is on, and the fans of the show can have our characters back, and the GH fans that are all in an uproar can go back to watching Sonny 24/7 and all of the crime-mob mess that you enjoy so much.

Well Torrey, you seem to forget that because we are having these OLTL idiots shoved down our throats, we no lnger get to see Nancy Lee Grahn (an Emmy winning actress whose talent knows no bounds), Haley Pullos (who is the best younger actress GH has had since Kimberly McCullough), Kelly Monaco (supposedly a lead actress) and countless other GH regulars. Last timeI checked Molly and Alexis were not in the mob!! Sorry OLTL could never hold my interest other than Dorian, Bo and Marty.

Torrey, if you’re sick of fans complaining online (which is EXACTLY what you’re doing!), then stop going on all these soap news sites.

I have zero respect for people who claim “I stopped watching because of blah blah blah”. So you weren’t a real fan after all, so why are you still talking about a soap you don’t watch anymore? As a true fan and I stick through it all (yes, even when storylines aren’t so great, there is such a thing called DVR), and to see people brew such negativity is saddening. I’ve seen people still complain YEARS after they claimed they’ve stopped watching, talk about being bitter…

Not everyone can be happy with what happens and that’s normal (personally I find GH to be as good as it ever was in the past 10 years), but why always threaten to quit watching, or stop watching altogether? You can voice your dislikes, complain, but say you stop watching? Do you all threaten your husbands with divorce every time he doesn’t shut the toilet seat? Sheesh…

Rant over, but I do have to say that what Steve Burton is doing is NOT COOL. I’ve lost a lot of respect for this guy; if you were unhappy with the deal at GH, own up and say you decided to leave because of it, not the whole “I want to be closer to my family in Nashville”, only to turn around and go on YR.

i agree totally a 100% slap in the face to gh fans, why? if he wanted to go
to y&r why not just say so i love steve aka jason morgan on GH

am very disappointed in the way he handled his leaving at gh in which he had
every right to for the move to his family in TN but to go to y&R which is also
filmed in ca just why not stay with GH

he will not last in that role look at aka laura from gh and diane aka carly from
atwt when you have LOYAL FANS who watch you weekly in the same role
for years it is very hard for them to except you on another soap playing another role—- just my opinion

maybe he had that planned all along and just did not want to say anything
negative about GH even though he made his fan base there

i will not watch him on y&R and will not watch the talk monday to see his big
interview to promote coming to y&R, do not watch the talk anyway
and am very upset with steve burton, gh will be 50 yrs old in april
and he should have stayed at least for that reason alone

and he needs to remember that is where he got started and in my opinion
built his fan base

and will fast forward thru or change channels when he is on y&R!!

sorry steve but u just lost one huge fan of 22 yrs

I won’t be watching The Talk – never have, never will.

And I don’t care how people get mad because he left General Hospital. He is his own person – he can do what he wants.

However, I am all for Steve joining Y&R provided no more current talent at Y&R is shown the door to accommodate him AND provided that he is not paired with Victoria! Now that Billy Miller is staying, I want Billy and Victoria to stay together. Steve most likely will not have chemistry with Jessica Collins – something just tells me. I suppose he could end up with Phyllis or Chelsea as I do not see Adam in the picture much longer. But if he is new to Genoa City then he will probably, unfortunately, have to make a stop by Sharon’s bed.

To be brutally honest, other than General Hospital and the movie Steve made with Robert Redford all those years ago, I have never seen him play any other character. I just hope he can be written as someone other than Jason on Y&R.

I agree with you! Steve needed to make a change, has moved to Nashville to be with Family (where Scott Reeves lives and Jonathan Jackson )and can commute from there. Going to another show , is a bonus. We all have dvrs so i will be checking out Y&R (used to watch every day as well) and will never stop watching GH . Over the years many actor changes have happened and we have loved all of them as well. I have been a fan of GH since L&L on the run days and will be forever. I am a fan of Steve and that will continue as well.

Agree with you both. I am sure he is coming on TV to say what I guess he’s going too he’s going to Y&R but better to say on TV then send a tweet and not face the music so to speak. I will miss him on GH but hey, it’s his life and may he be wished the best in anything he does. I love GH, I am not sure I will watch Y&R but thats Ok..I hope he does well! Geez…hope if I ever change jobs I dont have the world hate me

Avery had an ex-husband and the guy she had the affair with, so depending on which one SB is playing- he will start off with her, chemistry or not. Personally I like the idea of Sharon with the New York cop they just introduced. He would be someone totally different for her, someone more down to earth. He is also the only new cast member that I have liked, only wish he had more screen time.

No. I have no interest in seeing Steve Burton on The Talk or on Y&R. No offense to Steve. I’m sure he’s a nice enough guy. But Y&R has become unrecognizable the last few weeks with all the new cast editions and set changes. The first couple changes were nice and refreshing but it’s gone too far. So disappointing.

Who, exactly, SHOULD he be out for? I’m a fan but I surely do not raise his kids or pay his bills.

Good for him. Carlivati obviously doesn’t know his backside from a hole in the ground and I’ve lost interest in GH after 30 years of watching. I support any of the veteran castmembers who leave and find new opportunities to utlize their talent. Soaps are almost a thing of the past and they shouldn’t let their livelihood be dependant on “loyalty”. If the execs chose to fire Burton they sure wouldn’t have let loyalty stop ‘em.

So, he didn’t leave GH so his family could move to a nice little town. He left GH cause he was tired of playing the same character for years & wanted something new. If he was going back to GH, he wouldn’t announce it, or he would on the View on ABC. I like GH better since he left, Im glad AJ is back. Gives Michael,Sonny, & the girls more to do.

It’s not that Steve took another job…it’s that he wasn’t up front about it. All the “cover” stories as to why he was leaving GH were obviously just that…cover stories.

If Steve had just been honest about why he was leaving, I think people would have been more understanding. Twenty years is a long time to play the same role and I certainly would have understood if he had just said it was time to move on to another role.

Since he and JFP are such good buddies, I was not surprised by this move. I just think it’s funny that The Talk is making it sound like there is a “surprise” announcement when it’s been public knowledge for weeks now. Sorta like when Kelly Ripa made the “surprise” announcement that Michael Strahan was going to be her new co-host.

Do we ever know the “real” reason that someone leaves? Perhaps he was unhappy with the new writers. Maybe he was asked to take a pay cut. And lets not forget that he did actually sell his house and move to TN. All he really had to say when asked if he was leaving GH was “yes.”

Sometimes the public doesn’t have the full story, often actors are pushed out, but in order to receive a big paid out they are bound by a legal agreement never to reveal the real cause. I am not saying this was the case, but sometimes we just don’t know. Also, he may had every intention of doing what he said he was going to do and his friend JFP talked him into this as a favor for her. But even if he did it like so many think he did, with lies- the old adage of to err is human to forgive divine comes to mind.

GH is better off without him. The only storyline left for him was to get his memory back as Jason Q and he refused to do it. Most actors like to mix up their character and test their acting chops but SB seemed content wearing a black tshirt, flashing a gun and blinking. I wish him the best but really have no interest watching him on Y&R. Is it really a surprise that JFP hired her favorite GH pet after getting rid of vets like Genie and not inviting Tristan back as originally planned?

Good luck, Steve Burton. As an actor or any working person, he can seek out/choose his opportunities. If he felt GH was not the place for him, he left. f Y&R and JFP made him an offer, well he accepted it. I love my shows and characters as much as th enext fan, but shows evolve, actors leave, roles are recast. I hope Y&R can accommodate Burton as the show failed us and Maura West, Jennifer Landon, Gene Francis, Debbie Morgan, and others. Let’s hope Y&R and Burton are better for this development. GH will go on successfully without Jason Morgan (or with a recast down the road). I will watch and follow both serials.

I loved Steve Burton as Jason for the better part of the last 21 years, and I truly miss his presence on GH, and my choice would be to have him return to GH, BUT as I have said on this site before, and as others mentioned above, we all make career choices that are best for us and our families, so why should Steve Burton not be afforded that same choice? Plain and simple, it is his right to do what he believes is best for he and his family. I also believe Steve did not want to hurt any of his loyal GH fans, and that he truly thought this out before the choice was made. I also think that there is more than meets the eye to this, as it is quite possible that he was “asked” to keep quiet about his move to Y&R for x amount of time, or maybe there is another reason that is between Steve, TPTB at GH and Y&R. Either way, I think it is a smart move for him to appear on a talk show to make his announcement, and maybe smooth over some ruffled feathered fans at the same time. I am not so happy at the irony that he is appearing on a show that is opposite GH, but that is scheduling, and something he has no control over, and I am sure he was probably “asked” to appear on The Talk by JFP as a very smart PR move. He seems like a genuinely kind, caring, family man, and I wish him all the best. I will tivo The Talk and look forward to what he has to say, and I will watch him on Y&R also. Again, I would prefer that he go back to Port Charles, but since that is not in his best interest right now, I am happy to see him somewhere, rather than not at all. I adore him with Sam, but I can see him with the actress who plays Avery on Y&R also. Wishing you much success Steve!!!

Also, this coming week on GH, John McBain gives Sam the news that Faison shot and killed Jason, so she will now work on accepting this. Again, that closure storyline coinciding with Steve’s Y&R announcement is probably not coincidental, and to me, could possibly point to his being “asked” not to discuss his move for a period of time.

Very good point remember when Trevor St John told everyone no one asked him to come back to OLTL and he was in the final shot. I liked it better when the audience was not tipped off on every little thing. He told everyone he was leaving and he did ,he told everyone he was moving his family and he did, I do not think he ever said I will never accept a job on another soap. I would however demand not to wear black t/shirts over there. Lol

lol…they didn’t find the body so i assume Jason floated 125 miles down the river hitting his face on rocks and wood floating on top…someone found him and has been nursing him back to health his face destroyed and his memory gone…alas a wonderful doctor has pity on him and gives him a new face and a new name (Mortimer)..he accidentally wanders into Port Charles falls in love with Sam, who has moves on with John. Just before John and Sam’s wedding all of Jason’s memories come back to him..He crashes the wedding declaring his love for Sam, but she is in love with John now.Mortimer pulls out his glock, shoots at John but kills Sam instead..Now Mortimer is so young and restless he leaves Port Charles and moves to Genoa City and becomes a monk.

Well said Elhu!!! Totally agree with you!!! Tired of the nasty rants!

Steve has every right to do what is best for him, his family and his career. I love GH and I love the character Jason. Would have been over the moon to have him come back as Jason Q. I even think it would have been fun to see him as Jason Q be with Carly. However it does look like he is going to Y&R and he will be great there too… unless the writing and character are not done well. If JFP cares about him… you would hope she won’t let that happen. They must have trust there and that is great for him. As for the Talk… can’t stand that show but will watch his small segment as they give the saop stars a very short segment. I am sure Michael will be kind enough to get the clip and put it up on the site.

I completely agree with those supporting Burton’s right to make any decision he see’s fit. He owed GH NOTHING and he never said he was done with soaps. He said he wanted to try new things after 21 years in the same roll. None of us know the particulars of his contract or his plans with his family. I know he did indeed move to TB as he’s proudly been sharing photos of his time coaching his son’s new junior league footballs team there. We have no idea what lead to this decision or how he will conduct his family life with it.

If I feel “betrayed” by anything its ABC and the producers at GH for allowing a show I’ve been a fan of for 30 years to be revamped and butchered to the point where its stye is unrecognizeable. OFCOURSE changes needed to happen. But RC has no respect for who these characters were built to be and why fans loved them. I barely recognize any of my favorites at this point and he’s turned it into HIS show, not the fans. Dragging out long gone vets doesn’t impress me when the writing doesn’t deserve their time and talent.

Haven’t watched Y&R in a couple years, but I do believe I’ll give it another shot in hopes THEY will write for this man the way RC refused to.

Steve Burton making a ‘Decision” for himself and didn’t ask for his fan permission. How could he? Steve didn’t have to tell anyone his plans except his family. He announced to his fans he was leaving General Hospital, he doesn’t owe you the fans anymore than that. Some are mad because Jason and Sam didn’t get the happy ending they wanted. Be happy you got your “Sam and Jason’s baby” you craved for. Now some of his so-called fans come out with the nasty hate for a man , a actor choosing to move on. This is not Jason moving on it is Steve Burton the actor. This reminds me of the hate a certain basketball player received for choosing his own path like Steve is doing. Fans needs to realize these people have a life and because he moved his family and took a rest doesn’t mean he can’t work somewhere else. His contract with General Hospital over. This was not A SLAP IN THE FACE this is reaching for something different. Fans move to other jobs everyday when better opportunities come along but, we expect actors/actresses to stay put, so we the fans can continue to live in our dreamland for 1 hour everyday.

I don’t want to give the Talk ratings. It feels like steve lied to his devoted fans. He said he was leaving to be with his family. If that was true why isn’t he coming back to GH rather than going to Y&R? It is not that actors can’t change it is the fact that fans feel we have been lied to….Steve what happened on GH to make you leave??.

Steve did not lie to anyone..
He said he wanted to move his family to Tn and he did..
He said he wanted more time with his family and he as had more more with time them..
He has been wanting to leave GH for a few years and he has said so..
His contract was up and his house finally solid, he left GH and moved, something he had wanted to do for a long while.
Steve is in his prime and if ever there is/was a time for him to leave Jason behind and find new acting challenges and explore his career as being something other than Jason Morgan , now was the right time for him to do so..
He gave us 21 years and I wish him well !!

How is it a betrayal? Because after 20+ years he wasn’t feeling like portraying the same character. People need change and this is the change he is likely wanting. Plus, I don’t believe Steve enjoyed his final years/months on GH at all.

I do not need to offend anyone. BUT some of you really need to grow up!! This is a soap opera and not real life. I welcome actors switching things up. He played “Stone Face” for so many years it will be nice to see him in a different character with different actors. As well people do change there minds like when people retire. They get board and miss the work. They want to do something different or change things up. There is nothing wrong with that. He is not owned by us or GH. He should be able to make his own choices and we should respect that. This is not personal.

On one other note. Should we not be thankful that we even have our soaps to get us warm and fulfilled in the afternoon? Has not losing the ones we have not showed us that things are changing and that if they do not we will lose more? To be honest I am shocked when reading people going on about the actors from OLTL. I like Star and Todd on GH. Can you picture the 3-some that you know is in the works when Blair comes back and wants Todd back, yet again? Carly and Blair might be friends now but you know there will be fireworks down the road that will turn into something amazing to watch! It could be our next Super Couple! How can anyone not welcome that?

I have learnt in life you can never make everyone happy. But sometimes you need to stop and look at the bigger picture and see what could come out of some great changes. last year GH was on the road to being anther victim of being taken off the air. Now it is on fire and your complaining? Be Thankful!!

Just the idea of Steve Burton and Amelia Heinle in scenes togerther is making me scream of joy ! I always wanted Amelia as a recast Brenda on GH but this is even beter !! YAY!!!! Thanks Steve !!! Now if only they could recast Lily, Y&R would be perfect

Amelia as Brenda? Ouy! That would be the biggest mistake and worst re-cast since bringing Kirsten Storms back to the series as Maxie. Rebecca Budig would have made a better Brenda than Amelia. I’m still hoping they recast Victoria with Sarah J. Brown on Y&R, or even Tamara Braun. Those two would excel in the role and bring some fire back to the character that hasn’t been seen since Heather Tom in ’03.

Lily doesn’t need recasting at all.

SB is not a traitor! He’s had the SAME job for 21 years and the opportunity for change. How many people still want to work a job they started at the age of 20? It makes sense. Also, he was probably forbidden contractually to say anything about changing networks.

At least he stayed in soaps, supporting our beloved genre!

And, as both a GH and OLTL fan, GH is great! We’ve had Anna, Duke, Robert, Faison, Noah, Heather, and Lucy show up in the past year.

Telling everyone he was leaving to spend more time with his family and then findingout rhere is a possibility he will join the y&r family stinks. I hope this is not true. On the sistuation. I think he should have said Hey I’m taking a couple of months off and I’m ready to play other roles. As great as playing Jason was. Ok I can understand that. But he didn’t. He made it sound as if he was retiring like he was going to Tenesse and maybe in a a couple of years think about coming back to acting. It feels like it was all lies and Yes like a slap in the face to his GH fans and GH!! And that’s how I feel.

He said his contract was up and he wanted out / truth
He said he wanted to move his family to Tn, he did / truth
He wanted more time with his boys and he has / truth
We are fans not his family..what he decides to do with his private life is none of our business/ we are not privileged to know his business lol …

In the old days people who do that would be called a busybody or nosy-snoop LOL

This is likely his confirmation that he is joining Y&R as Dylan. I’m semi-excited about it. I cannot wait to see him in a better role than that of Jason. Jason got annoying the last few years. I want him to portray a good guy, and maybe even make a friendly connection with Nick Newman! That guy needs some male friends to shoot the bull with!

Yes Steve played a Quatermaine but then he began not wanting to do this or that… the only way they could play him was Stone Cold. I’d like to see him ACT different but on stage he has a difficult time feeling comfortable with Port Chuck and although I am sure he loves it…he is not a Scott, Brandon, or Bradford. Is he good looking and a smart business man yes! Was he open and honest to fans? Will he do whatever he is asked to do on Y&R? He won’t be the big man on campus there…or will he? I guess we need to wait and see… I was a loyal Jason fan who wanted to see him go back to being a Quatermaine and see his true acting ability—he didn’t want that. I wanted to see true love seens with his partners…he didn’t want that. So what can he play beside STONE COLD….we’ll see….

I have been a fan of soaps since the late 60′s. I dont know if you call Dark Shadows a soap but it started there when I was in college. Everyone on my floor in college would work their class schedules around so they wouldnt miss Dark Shadows. I started watching the soaps when I got married in 1969. I have been watching One Life to Live and All My Children ever sing then. I wa so upset when they took them off the air. I am glad to hear they are bringing them back. Cant wait to see them and all the excitement they bring. Glad to hear of the retun. Cant wait to start watching again.

I do think Steve Burton needs to announce his intentions to his GH fans – should have already done so. The Talk is on opposite General Hosp in Orlando, Fl – so I will watch GH. I am sure Steve’s announcement will be shown on all the Entertainment Shows and we can get the info there. Also on the Web. I will be watching GH as usual – sadly without Steve (Jason). I hope he has a reasonable explanation for his “lying to his GH fans” if he knew already he was going to Y & R when he departed GH. If he did tell us a lie, then I will be very disappointed in Steve Burton!!!!!!!

WOW! The outrage of some of the fans here is pretty unbelievable to me. I for one will be watching The Talk as I hardly watch GH these days anyways. I don’t blame Steve for going to Y&R after the way Cartini dogged him. He was a 21 year vet on GH and the minute they took over, they started pushing him to the background and writing his character completely OOC so they could prop ME as the hero of the show. Steve, like many of the fans, was excited for the payoff of Jasam getting married. He said so in countless interviews when he and Kelly Monaco were promoting their characters’ marriage and after he and Kelly both showed their displeasure in how their couple was being decimated just “for some guy” as Kelly said to get in between them. It was obvious that Cartini brought on favorites like ME (a actor i actually like) and RH in an attempt to regulate SBu out, basically dividing his role of “hero of PC” and “Carly’s BFF” between the two former OLTL actors. He and MB are supposed to be the lead actors of GH, yet they were hardly on while ME and RH were on ALL the time, so much so that it made me sick of John McBain, a character i loved on OLTL before they crossed him over to GH. Steve had been talking about moving to Nashville for years with his family but when he was enjoying the story he was in, of course he stuck around. But with the way Cartini were treating him as well and in turn his fans, it’s no wonder that was the final push he needed to move. That didn’t mean that he’d never take another job or that he wouldn’t take on soon. We all saw the exit interview where they asked about the possibility of Y&R where he said he wouldn’t say no because if he did he’d show up there tomorrow. That was a hint in and of itself. Steve didn’t betray GH or it’s fans, the new heads of GH betrayed him. They didn’t care that he & MB carried the show for years, Frank & Ron basically pushed him out, and Steve was too classy and cared about the show and the actors still on it too much to come out and say it. Shame on those of you who claimed to be fans, you weren’t the wronged party here, at least not by Steve. Steve however was wronged, along w/his fans, Jasam fans, and numerous other facets of GH fans by Cartini. I for one am happy Steve is seizing the opportunity to go to a show that honors it’s vets and respects all their actors. I look forward to seeing Steve on The Talk and on Y&R as well.

It’s not so much that Steve Burton is going to be on another show (although I would prefer to see him with a great storyline on GH), it’s that he seems to have lied when he left GH. He said he was leaving in order to spend more time with his family. Then, not long after he leaves GH, he appears to be going to another soap. I think what GH fans are having a hard time with is why didn’t he come back to GH if he was going back to soaps? He knows how loved Jason is and how many fans he had as Jason. He also knows how sad fans were to see Jason leave, but we all wished him well, as what better reason was there for leaving us than to be with his family? But that seems to have been a lie. It seems planned, particularly since it is said that he has a close working relationship with one of the big shots at Y&R. It’s the apparent lie that bothers most fans. Had he just left GH and said the reason was because the character of Jason was going nowhere and didn’t seem to be evolving, we could have all understood that; most of us would no doubt agree. But he seems to have lied about his reason for leaving and it feels a bit like a betrayal to the fans who have been with him since before Jason’s personality changing accident and through that horrible movie he left GH at one point to do…

Whether he lied or not, it’s HIS business. Frankly, I would rather him lie about something silly like this, then something that actually mattered.

We do not know that he lied. Maybe he had all intentions of leaving showbiz for a while; maybe he knew Jill said she would get him on Y&R if and when she could; maybe he knew he would be joining Y&R and left GH to have some time off before he started filming. He airs on 1/29/13 so it isn’t like he has been taping for months.

I say just leave the man alone. Personally I am excited to see what he can add to Y&R. I just hope they can write him as someone not Jason Morgan – that will be exciting.

YAY! I just heard this news. As an ex-Y&R viewer, I am THRILLED that changes are being made to the show. Had no idea Maria Murderous Bell was fired!!! I quit watching last year after the utter destruction and humiliation of Sharon Cases’ character. But to hear positive things are on the horizon is making me excited to tune in again! Didn’t know who SB was until I Googled him and WOW! He and SC would make a smokin’ hot couple IF rumors are true! If not, I refuse to watch until the writers treat SC and her character with respect. Her fans; and the actress, deserves it. Sharon & Dylan…BRING IT!!!!! Can’t wait to see them burn up the screens!!! Here’s to new beginings! xoxo

I hope the soap world won’t cancel GH and Y&R after reading all the negative comments on the net. I don’t care if he changes shows…I am just glad any soaps are even still ON TV (whether I watch them or not). Complain too much and you wont have anything to complain about.

Sorry, but he was boring on GH and unless he has some major overhaul in his abilities will be boring on Y&R. Though, I should be thanking him. Since I usually FF through anything involving Victor, Cane, Lily I can add Burton’s scenes and zip through an episode in 20 minutes.

Oh, and would lay bets that although initially he will be tied to Avery (presumed dead lover) he will end up as Sharon’s newest squeeze.

one life to live can’t replace Steve with someone else Jason was one of the reasons I watch General Hospital…its like replacing Sonny and if the part is not revived alot of people like me will tune out…

Now the Todd and Star playing in General Hospital is great but remember they are playing same characters I would hate to see them go back to One life…./Todd is such a believable,
mischief making character he is estgablished on GH so please leave him there..

the only thing after all this timeis AMC and who David was going to be his next frankenstein back to life and that would be entertaining . all the people brought back to life find out they only have a short time to live kinda like a virus

The time mentioned for “The Talk” is when GH is on. So, I’ll be watching GH if I read this right. If Steve goes to Y&R, good for him. So many of his fans were begging for him to return to Soaps, well, now he is. I hope if that is what he does do, that the GH writers either find the “Stone-Cold” body of Jason, or replace with a different actor soon. Sam and the other characters need some answers.

In the grand scheme of life how important is this? I started watching GH when they brought over the OLTL people. I was never impressed with Steve Burton or the character of Jason, but I never had anything invested in it. Bottom line, he left and now he is going to be on another show. If your a true fan of his, tune in to Y&R. If your not, shut up, there are way more uses for your time than bitching about an actor who made a choice in his life that you dont like. If your a true fan of the genre then watch Y&R, all of these shows are in jeopardy without viewers. The smartest thing that GH did was bring over characrters from OLTL and bring back the characters that GH fans loved over the years. I wish to God they would do the same at Y&R, but I will stick it out for as long as I can.

I’m not mad at Steve. He said all along he wanted at least three months with his family before he returned to work. He has had that. It may be that GH couldn’t accomodate a shortened schedule so he could commute to Tenn. and Y & R could. I’ll miss him on GH – but a change might be good for him as a actor.

I read this ONLINE. Here is the BIG news …

CBS confirmed on Monday that he had joined the cast of “The Young and The Restless.”

The blond actor will make his premiere on the soap on January 29.

Steve will play Dylan McAvoy (presumed DEAD lover of Avery), described as, “a rugged ex-soldier with a secret arriving in Genoa City.”

i know actors like to move on and do other things.. but general hospital will never be the same… i was really hoping steve burton returns to GH after some time off.. he was great on that soap and now to see him on a different one… i don’t know. i’ve been watching GH since its was in black and white.. and they have had some great actors and actress on this soap.. i wish they gave mr. burton something more to sink his teeth into on GH. Well will miss you on GH mr. burton, hope you hurry back real soon..
