4 July 8th, 2013 NASHVILLE Showrunner Previews What To Expect In Season Two!

So while Nashville went off the airwaves in May with a multi-cliffhanger finale, leaving ardent fans of the show wondering what will happen next, TV Guide some intel from the ABC series showrunner, Dee Johnson!

In addition, TV Line today also revealed that Chris Carmack, who plays gay musician Will,  has been promoted to series regular!

Now to refresh your memory of the Nashville season one finale: A drunken Deacon (Charles Esten) and Rayna (Connie Britton) got in a car accident, Juliette (Hayden) is dealing with the ramifications of her mother’s death, while Scarlett (Claire Bowen) received a proposal from Gunnar (Sam Palladio), just when Avery (Jonathan Jackson) comes back around supportive of her career, and looking for a second chance with her!  Here are a few excerpts from the TVG feature on some teasers for season three in Music City!

On the chances of Deacon and Rayna living happily ever-after:  “As much as we’d love to see the pair come together as part of the James’ larger dysfunctional family, first Deacon must come to terms with his new role as a father before he and Rayna can consider moving forward  … I  think by the end of the season Deacon will come to understand Rayna’s reasoning for keeping the secret. Whether or not he’ll ever forgive her for it is another thing, but I think he’ll come to understand it more.”

On the Scarlett-Gunnar-Avery-Will relationship dynamics:   “Between these four, romance and friendship will only get more complicated. …  And who, if anyone, will Scarlett ultimately choose? ‘Avery is her first love and there’s always a special place for one’s heart for someone like that, but Scarlett is going to be very much on her own journey this season. But that said, she has strong ties to both (Gunnar and Avery) of those guys.”

So Nashville viewers, do you hope Deacon and Rayna can come to terms with the past to move forward to the present with each other?  Do you want Avery to end up with Gunnar or Avery?  And how will Will’s character, being so far the only gay character on the canvas, continue to affect the lives of his friends? I do like Deacon and Rayna together but the past just may be insurmountable. Scarlett has too much trouble right now with Avery and Gunnar. Maybe she should concentrate on launching a career first and in that way, something would be moving forward for her. Will portraying a gay persona is just okay as I feel he doesn’t bring much to the show for personality. I personally enjoy DOOL with Will and Sonny as they have chemistry and a good story line. I would like to see Juliette have a better role to play as she is quite captivating and can really sing.

  2. Tali says:

Love Deacon & Rayna! Love to see their story develop including his role as a father. He was good with the girls. I like Scarlet & Avery together. Juliette needs someone like Gunner but really a knockout, lady’s man that falls for her!!

  3. Dez says:

Scarlett should stay on the fence and drive them both crazy. Then she should meet and date a big star and drive them totally out of their minds. I honestly don’t care about the romance. I REALLY cannot wait to see her become a huge star and give Juliette the flux! I hope Scarlett morphs into a gorgeous DIVA!

Scarlet should try the single route for awhile.. while I think Rayna/Deacon should try to make sense of their new situation as parents along with Teddy of the eldest daughter.

I’m intrigued to see if Rayna’s sister Tandy will have a bigger part next season as well as what Juliette will be up to as well.
