One of Nashville’s leading ladies, Hayden Panettiere (Juliette Barnes) has entered rehab in her battle with postpartum depression. The 26-year-old star of the ABC’s Music City soap opera gave birth to her first child, a daughter named Kaya, back in December of 2014, and recently revealed her own struggle on Live with Kelly and Michael.

Hayden also had tweeted back on October 10th that she felt like she was doing better whenrelating: “Feeling like I’m coming back in to my own body!mother @bonesthenskin”

A rep for Panettiere said in statement: “Hayden Panettiere is voluntarily seeking professional help at a treatment center as she is currently battling postpartum depression. She asks that the media respect her privacy during this time.”

In a case of life imitating art, currently on Nashville, Juliette Barnes is suffering from postpartum depression and acting out in the storyline.  On Wednesday, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that “Nashville production is ‘adapting’ following Hayden’s decision to enter rehab.  However, it is too soon to tell if production on the ABC country music drama will have to make any further adjustments.”

Oh dear, read this title and I became mixed up and thought you were referring to the fictional character, Juliet. I am so sorry that she has to go through this and good for her for calling attention to this on Nashville. No wonder she is so compelling as a woman suffering from postpartum depression.
    Good for her.

It’s a real malady, Lou. It is triggered by falling hormones and exasperated by fatigue. The end result is a chemical imbalance in which the sufferer experiences a depletion of dopamine (which produces a feeling of happiness) causing abject depression.
Postpartum depression is every bit as real and as serious as bipolar disorder.
Of course you cannot tell Tom Cruise and the The Scientologists this. They believe all ailments of the mind can be exercised away….which it can’t.

It must have been extremely difficult for her to play out the scenes we’re watching unfold on TV. She must be very professional to have performed them despite what was going on with her personally. Godspeed to her and her family, and good for her for getting the help she needs to be there for her baby.
