    I totally agree that VAN HANSIS deserves all the recognition for his amazing work in ATWT.

    Hansis would have a difficult time winning bec Jonathan Jackson has pretty much been declared the Supporting Actor winner. While Conroy could win the Younger Actor trophy w/ the right reel.

    I don’t think so. Van Hansis is way better than this Jonathan Jackson. Van Hansis conveys emotions with so much more beauty than this guy! And Hansis’ acting is the best!

    mmc replied

    If you had seen Van Hansis acting skills this last year you might change your mind.He went through every emotion this past year, happy, sad. bewildered, angry , and at the end utterly devastated.Not to mention his beautiful smile and gorgeous face.When he smiles his eyes smile too.on his own he’s the best , but the love story with Eric Sheffer Stevens gave him more than enough material for 10 reels.He really deserves an emmy…i have never missed an actor like I’m missing him now!!!!

    Jackson ranked higher than Hansis in their best moments of 2010 according to the On Air On Soaps team so they obviously think Jackson has the better reel. The Daytime audience has pretty much been proclaiming Jackson’s reel as the superior, winning reel for Supporting Actor. To each his own, but I think Jackson’s far better than Hansis and that Jackson will win since people like his acting. He’s reclaiming his throne in Daytime. He grew up in the medium and if they nominated him for not doing much when he returned, they would nominate him now for a reel people have been talking abt immediately after it aired. I would say Jackson will get nominated, but Hansis might not get nominated since ATWT has been axed and no P&G soaps are there to push for him. The CBS soaps will push for each other, instead of the P&G soaps, since they’re Bell soaps while the ABC soaps will push for each other.

    HW replied

    If it’s the way it works, that’s totally unfair, because Van Hansis has been nominated three times for the Emmy Awards and should have won. During 2010, Hansis did the best work in daytime TV according to a lot of soaps magazines that told that Van Hansis did such an amazing work and had wonderful reels when Luke mourned the death of his boyfriend and when Luke confronted the doc back in May. Van Hansis deserves to win an Emmy in 2011 for his fabulous acting. He deserves it since 2006!

    mmc replied

    ATWT and its actors has been getting screwed for a long time by CBS and P&G.it’s a shame when they had some of the best actors on daytime.I respect your opinions but to me Van Hansis is superior to all the others.!

    Reply

    bottomchef replied

    Jonathan Jackson potentially winning is not “unfair” to Van Hansis bec Hansis has been nominated a number of times. That’s ridiculous. It’s only a freaking award, so Hansis’s followers are overreacting. The soap press and soap audience are pretty much proclaiming that JJ could win either in Supporting or as Lead. According to many, JJ’s reel is that great that it could win in any category. How is ATWT “getting screwed” by CBS and P&G when Maura, Park and Pinson won recently? If Crystal Chappell could not win for the heavily hyped acting for Otalia, then I doubt Hansis win over Jackson.

    mmc replied

    bottomchef , we’re not overreacting, we just feel strongly that Van deserves to win.ATWT was not treated with the respect it deserved by P&G because they wanted out.Evidentally you are not a Van Hansis fan.but that’s ok because he has so many that love him and appreciate his work!

    Here are who I think were the best and worst.

    Best younger actor goes to Zack Conroy. Conroy in particular did some very subtle, laid back acting w/c isn’t common in Daytime. If he was on Y&R, he would be engulfed by the graduates of the Christian Leblanc School of Scene Chewing. Conroy is a good actor, so it’s terrible that he’s supporting awful actors like Clifton and Frantz, since Scamber is once again, sadly driving storylines. Oliver should be driving storylines since Conroy is attractive and the better actor.

    Best younger actress goes to Kim Matula. She’s no Jennifer Finnigan, but she owns JMW and Frantz. Matula and Conroy should be nominated by the B&B cast.

    Best slapfest goes to Stephanie’s double slap. “That was for Bridget! That was for Hope!” Hilarious, campy, melodramatic, fun, soapy moment. And Brooke looked like she hit her head after the second slap. LOL. Flannery’s best acting is when Steph is a strong, antagonistic bitch.

    Best reveal goes to The Party Boink. Oliver realizing it was Brooke and not Hope was typical B&B. However, the follow thru was awful since Brooke thought Oliver was Ridge and B&B did not write a Ridge/Brooke/Oliver/Hope quad.

    Best recast goes to Maura West as Diane. Subtle acting from Maura is a good contrast to all the histrionic acting on Y&R from Bergman, Stafford, etc.

    Worst moments are more in number than best.

    Worst death goes to Franco on GH. That trainwreck of course landed on The Soup.

    Worst paternity storyline goes to Liam/Bill Junior. The bickering was so cringeworthy. It was meant to be comedic, but the acting was so awful from Diamont and Clifton. They should have scrapped this idea, and let Bill Junior have an unmentioned kid arrive in LA since Bill Junior was also a never mentioned Spencer. Instead it was months of this crap. 20 something Liam cowering from senior citizen Stephanie was hilariously bad.

    Worst Leading Actors goes to Don Diamont on B&B. Diamont can only do smug and more smug. Everytime he delivers his dialogue, it’s like soap acting at its worst. Bill cheering for the stunt of Thomas, Bill revealing his niece Bridget has a child w/ Howen, Bill arguing w/ Liam, etc were really crappy.

    Weirdest, Incestuous Moment goes to Steffy, Thomas, Thorne and Marcus cheering on Ridge to disrobe. What the hell were the writers thinking? Why would the children, brother and nephew of anyone do that? Steffy complimenting her father’s body was creepy. Runner up goes to Aggie touching her brother Oliver too much in front of her bf, Nick!

    Dumbest Moment goes to Statue Howen vs. Statue Rick for Jackie. I’m all for campy, frothy fun, but that was soooooooooo stupid. Lowder, LAD and Beemer were terrible. They get Worst Supporting Actors and Worst Supporting Actress for that crap.

    Worst in racial diversity goes to B&B. They finally put a black actress on contract after Lark Voorhies, who portrayed Jasmine before Thomas was even born. But they have her portray a homeless person. Lloyd is also untalented. It’s the same w/ Latina actresses. Whenever B&B needs a maid or an immigration storyline, it’s w/ a Latina character/actress. Claudia was I think related to the maid of the Forresters, and she was deported by Macy to a country where she’d be killed. Gabi was also related to the Forrester maid, and she married Thomas so she wouldn’t be deported. Terrible.

    Worst in lgbtq representation goes to B&B. Since 1987 B&B has centered on LA fashionistas, yet not a single thespian on contract has portrayed a gay or lesbian fashion designer ever. LOL. The show is bursting at the seams w/ on contract and recurring thespians who portray useless chars that say some lines once a month since they have no storylines or stupid “storylines”. But it still can’t manage to cast gay and lesbian characters.

    Worst younger actress goes to JMW. Her acting regressed once Thomas was taking Brooke’s side.

    Adam Gregory, David Gregory and Clifton get worst younger actors. Clifton’s acting is so distracting and hyper as Liam. While B&B’s Gregory and OLTL’s Gregory are your typical soap hunks w/ no acting talent. It’s kind of difficult to take Thomas as a serious romantic threat when Gregory’s voice is like it’s going thru puberty. Gregory can’t act so they should not have paired him w/ KKL, the lead actress of B&B. A handsome, but terrible actor is once again in a frontburner storyline.

    Worst return goes to Adrienne Frantz/Amber. For months, Amber was languishing in the background, being thrown to Rick and then to Nick. It felt like the writers were trying to give Amber any storyline that would stick merely for the sake of giving Amber something to do. When JMW temporarily left B&B, Amber was thrown to the younger set, w/c was a terrible step back for the show. B&B should have not brought Amber back, especially since it’s so cast heavy. It was even worse that they put her w/ the younger set. They should have temporarily recast Steffy instead. I don’t think JMW is so important that they can’t let a diff actress portray Steffy. They could have hired any unknown actress or former Daytime actress. Heck they could have hired Mackenzine Mauzy, who portrayed Steffy’s “identical” twin Phoebe. Mauzy greatly improved when she returned to B&B and she imbued a lot of sadness in Phoebe. A Steffy recast would have been better than Amber driving the younger set’s storylines again. And Frantz should never attempt an accent. Ever.

    Worst non contract/recurring go to Andrea Evans and Lesli Kay. They are talented daytime vets. Evans was trashy fun as Tawney and was the only palatable aspect abt Amber. Kay could be the next Susan Flannery if B&B actually wrote for her/Felicia. So why the heck are they not on contract in frontburner storylines? While countless actors, who are atrocious, are on contract. Diamont, Tom, Clifton, Gregory, Lowder, Gareis, Frantz, LAD, Beemer, Battle, Hearst, Wagner are either awful “thespians” or have no storylines or have dumb storylines. SJB has talent, but she can’t elevate the crappy writing for Aggie. Mills can do the comedic psycho, but Pam’s so watered down and underutilized. B&B really should make room for Evans and Kay, as they would improve the show.

    Zack Conroy is a treasure for sure, while the character of Amber makes me want to dump my TV in the garbage.I like Don Diamont, he’s so devious he’s fun to watch.But and this is a big BUT, if you were a watcher of ATWT an award should go to my beloved Van Hansis.He was so good this past year….when he cries you cry and when he smiles you can’t help but smile.I could have watched his story and his story with Eric Sheffer Stevens 24/7. He truly deserves an award….to me he has it all…looks , great acting skills , and this year he proved he can do it all !

    I called in to Blazinryradio and could not get through.there was something wrong with the phone line so you couldn’t get in to call much less to listen. .I turned on my computer and there’s something wrong with the sound so I couldn’t hear much but I did hear you mention Eric Sheffer Stevens and his great portrayal of Dr. Reid Oliver.I think you mentioned something about him being best supporting actor.Am i correct?His character was played beautifully, but Van as Luke was memorable with patience and love helping to make this snarky neurosurgeon into a real person.i couldn’t hear anything else after that so michael will you please post all your picks on this site for those of us that couldn’t hear what you said.I do hope your worst storyline will be Reid being killed by a train and Luke losing the love of his life and being alone.i love Eric and i love Van.Two remarkable actors ….two remarkable men!

    Van Hansis played each emotion Luke went through with such beauty! If he wasn’t picked, I am very disappointed and I really don’t understand what Hansis did for him not being supported. I’m sorry but Ess acting was very one dimensional. VH worked his scenes with so much beauty and with realism.

    CG and JP (formerly on ATWT) should be rated the worst ever team in soap history. They compeltely deserve that dishonor after they destroyed one of the most beautiful love stories (LURE) to ever grace the soap screen, with the horrendous ending.

    Reply

    mmc replied

    It really was the worst ending…wasn’t it?I’m still not over it after all these months.But Van Hansis really acted up a storm when Reid was dying and then died.ATWT should have ended happilly for everyone because it was going away forever and we wouldn’t be able to see how Luke managed to survive without the love of his life. Why did they choose this horrible ending ….i don’t think we’ll ever really know.Thanks for nothing, CG, JP, CBS, P&G and all TPTB! But Van does deserve an emmy….he should get one finally!!!!!

    I’m all for Lexi and Haley from GH. They are wondeful young actresses. In fact, just this evening I saw Haley on a new episode of ‘House’. She was wonderful talking and listening to House talk about his girlfriend and giving him some advice on how to be nice to her. It was very charming! Haley really delivered. So, I would vote for her an any contest, and Lexi too.

    right now, Nadia Bjorlin as Chloe is the most fascinating to watch on DAYS. The desperation of a woman and the combination of post pardum depression and the unraveling her marriage to Daniel. Her performance have been magnificent to say the least.

    other great performers on DAYS are Kristian Alfonso, James Scott, Arianne Zucker, Suzanne Rogers, and Chandler.

    Y&R is by far the most disappointing soap on the air. I have quit watching after 25 years.

    GH= B
    AMC=D
    DAYS=A-
    B&B=C+
    OLTL=A-
