One Life to Live’s departing Brett Claywell (Kyle) discussed his thoughts on the entire journey of taking on the same-sex storyline of Kish as an actor, and the dymanic and bond that has developed on-air between loveable misfits, Kyle and Roxy (Ilene Kristen), and this week’s baby Sierra Rose dramatic revelations that shake up the canvas, especially for Kish. This video interview shot a few day prior to the news of the decision to end the Kish storyline, has Brett detailing some of his thoughts on the chance to portray this one of a kind character. Here are some excerpts!
Brett on the journey and taking on the role of Kyle: ”It’s been an interesting journey for me. It was not something I ever saw myself doing, to be perfectly honest. Not that I never saw my self not doing, but it never crossed my mind that a role like this would come across. I really thought that the time, and the actor I was working with, and the situation, and the story, was the right time and it all fell into place. And, so I didn’t make judgments about it. I tried to decide if it was something I truly believed in and thought that this was going to go in a direction that I believed in, and it has. It’s a tribute to the writers, the directors, and the actors, and it’s been a full team effort.”
Brett on Kyle and Roxy’s very strong bond: “It’s become they are like lost souls were both loners for awhile. It’s was nice to see them come together and have this nice relationship which has so many levels to it; brotherly and sisterly and maternal. I think they generally care for each other and they understand that each of them would be there for each other when they need.”
