3 May 18th, 2011 OLTL’s Shenell Edmonds nominated for a BET Award!

Congratulations are in order for one of daytime’s best young actresses, Shenell Edmonds (Destiny) of One Life to Live .  She just received early this morning a nomination for a 2011 BET Award in the Young Stars Award category!  Shenell will compete against some tough competition from: Jaden Smith, Willow Smith, Keke Palmer, and Diggy Simmons.

The show, which will be hosted by Kevin Hart, will air live on BET on Sunday June 26 from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles! Check out the complete list of nominees in all categories here!

    Hopefully she will get a bigger storyline soon. I would rather find out more about her past and mother than Deanna’s. No offense to the actress playing that role, but with OLTL being canceled, i would rather see more Destiny than Deanna.

    Congratulations to Shenell. She is a terrific young actress – so natural. She has so much more to offer than she was given a chance to show. Yet another character that we will not be able to see grow and develop even further. I have loved every scene she was in. I am so glad she is being acknowledged by BET. I hope another soap picks her up, as she has alot to give I am sure. I may be hoping against hope, but I am keeping my fingers crossed that somehow OLTL and AMC will be picked up by another network or cable channel. They all deserve this, including the wonderful Agnes Nixon, who I am sure will not let (her babies) these two great soaps go without giving it all she can. The icing on the cake would be another network or cable channel picking up the soaps, and the ratings go through the roof, which I have no doubt would happen. Take that Frons and Pratt.

    This is totally surprising. Her acting has always been a controversy amongst the fans. While she is indeed cute and spirited, she does appear to be a novice. Her scenes never ring true to me. She has never moved me to tears. Occasionally I would chuckle over some of her lines. The writers never gave Destiny a worthy story, the whole Greg story was a huge mess. I hope the actress goes far, I just can’t believe she is getting nominated for an acting award.
