Even Oprah Winfrey one of the most recognizable, powerful, and richest women in the world  apparently had some major issues in juggling all that was before in trying to stabilize her then struggling OWN cable network, taking on her upcoming role in the film, The Butler, and the rigors of conducting interview after interview.

Winfrey is  is now revealing for the first time that she suffered a near nervous breakdown last year in an upcoming interview with Shaun Robinson of Access Hollywood that will air over several evening this week.

Winfrey, described the symptoms she experienced, stating that “It was just sort of speeding and a kind of numbness and going from one thing to the next thing to the next thing.  I thought … ‘if I don’t calm down I’m going be in serious trouble.’ I was in the middle of doing voiceovers, you know? And I remember closing my eyes in between each page because looking at the page and the words at the same time was too much stimulation for my brain.”

Winfrey went on to say that she realized what was happening to her during an interview in October of 2012 with director Jason Russell, who recounted  his own nervous breakdown before his film, Kony was released.  As Russell described his very public breakdown, Winfrey says she realized she could relate:  “I was sitting and listening to Jason Russell describe his symptoms …. saying, ‘Um, this sounds pretty familiar to me,’” she said.

In addition, Winfrey told Access Hollywood’s Robinson that it wasn’t until her interview for OWN with singer Fergie, whose father was battling cancer at the time, that she decided to slow down and take better care of herself.  “I had reached a point where I just couldn’t take in anymore stimulation,” she said.

ABC’s Good Morning America on Monday aired this package on Winfrey’s near breakdown reveal! Let us know what you think of Oprah coming forth with her revelation to the media?

Welcome to the real world Oprah. This happens everyday to people who can’t figure out where their kids next meal is coming from, what will happen when their job is downsized, and how they will keep their house and pay their bills as costs keep rising and the paycheck disappears or goes down.

I’m guessing they would rather their break downs come from too many money making projects going on at once.

At least Oprah can afford to take a vacation. Not really feeling the sympathy here. sorry. How about spending some of those millions you have to get help.

Amen clh! Shame on her this from the woman who had the nerve to accuse a shopkeeper in Switzerland of not showing her a $38,000 purse just to try to pump up racism to promote that stupid movie The Butler. I guess she did not expect the shop to call her on her lies.

clh and others – I hope you realize what you’re saying. OWN network has 100′s of employees. If her network fails, they’ll end up in the very same situation that you just described. For THEIR SAKES, let’s hope that OWN network is successful so that they don’t end up living paycheck to paycheck.

After all, Oprah will still have money to fall back on. Her employees won’t.

No one said anything about the company failing. My point was that instead of getting people to feel sorry for her, she has plenty of money to help herself. And all of those outside projects are not going to help OWN stay afloat, those projects are to make her richer.

Not much sympathy here either. She and her privileged entertainment and political friends are out of touch with reality. Personally, listening to her voice gives me a nervous breakdown.

Not a fan of Miss O in anyway shape or form, but she’s human like the rest of us. We all have stress in our lives– good and bad– and as we age we lose our ability to bounce back easily when we taken on more than we can chew.

My only beef is her making it public– her need to say, look at me, woe is me. I believe she might have been in the process of burning out– we all do at times, but don’t put it on the evening news especially when there are so many people facing far worse in life.

I agree, and that was my point. She has enough money to get help anytime she needs it. She doesn’t need my pity.

She should have kept it to herself.

People have stress in their lives..
At least her stress is not over money, and survival .
She doesn’t even need to cook, she sits down to wonderful meals without lifting a finger to cook or clean up. She has no worries over bills, and she goes wherever she wants to go in the world.
She has no family responsibilities, children etc…
I think she is a very fortunate woman and her stress is from her own choices, the woman has no need to work, ever..

I actually support Oprah. She is a job creator. How many people can be called that? I don’t know what all the backlash is about. Sure, she’s not perfect and she occasionally puts her foot in her mouth. But she continues on. She continues to work, and it is her dedication and perseverance that I respect.

You people can bash her all you want. Just don’t be surprise if her network fails and all of her employees are out of a job.

Again, all of these outside projects are for HER! If she wants to make OWN work, then she needs to spend time there and not making movies and doing interviews to keep her face on the screen.

If she is truly concerned about those employees she can do something about it.

    prior to your revelation….

it was known… OWN is in the black…. outa the red light/ink… if you will… thanks to Tyler Perry.

I think it was your partners who shoulder’ed the networks ways and means….

this is press for your “oscar” consideration, for “The Butler”… and bringing OWN to the forefront…

    so be it…

    we’ve bore witness to publicity(s)

I really don’t care for Oprah at all. I wish her no harm or ill health but I am NOT a fan of hers! Is she looking for sympathy ? I think something that personal you should keep it to yourself. And not broadcast it to the whole world. Everyone has no need to know this…That’s my opinion.
