Another memorable performer known for her work in the daytime community as well as countless motion pictures and primetime TV shows has passed away.
News today out of The Hollywood Reporter has that actress Patricia Barry, who played Addie Horton on Days of our Lives (1971-74) and the evil Peg “Cobra” English on All My Children (1980-1981) has died at the age of 93. Barry also appeared on Guiding Light as the scheming Miss Sally Gleason (1984-1987) and in the 90′s on ABC’s Loving as the matriarch of the upper-crust Aldens, Isabelle.
But it was her role as Doug Williams (Bill Hayes) wife on Days, and the mother of Hope (Kristian Alfonso), that gained her notoriety. Of course, her other daughter was Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes), who soon would fall in love with her mother’s husband. On AMC, Peg was Brooke English’s (Julia Barr) mother who was later revealed to be a leader of drug cartel!
One of the earliest members of Women in Film and a former president of the nonprofit advocacy organization, Barry’s publicist announced that Patricia had died peacefully Tuesday at her home in Los Angeles.
Survivors include her daughters Miranda Barry, a former executive in charge of global Sesame Street productions, and Stephanie; son-in-law Mark; grandchildren Alixanne and Hailey; and godchildren Tracy and Stephen. Memorial services are planned for early 2017 in Los Angeles and New York.
