3 April 15th, 2010 P&G making movies for TV and declares out of soap biz!

We all knew this had already happened, and it a sad to read it in print, yet again, but Proctor & Gamble, the original soap opera giant is definatelyout of the soap business, looks like for good.  With the cancellations of Guiding Light and As the World Turns in September, Marc Pritchard, the global marketing officer for P&G tells ( the headquarters of P&G) that making Friday-Night family movie nights, and soliciting pitches for miniseries, and other tv specials is of great interest to them, but as far as soaps, Pritchard stated.”I think they’ve run their course.”

In terms of their goals with new family programming he stated, “We went to all the networks and said we want to be in family-friendly shows. We want to see more of them.”

Please call this number if you want to save ATWT 866-695-1860 Speak to a live person. This does not have anything to do with the network. I called said they are still searching for a home, told them about this. Straight out asked them are you giving me lip service.

  2. Greg says:

Why can’t ATWT be sold to someone else like King World who owns Dr. Phill and Oprah? I called the number too, told them my 76 year old mother was very devastated in cancellation news, she just gotten over the loss of GL. It’s like a death in the family loosing these two Iconic shows and no one gives a crap.

  3. Joan says:

I know it doesn’t do any good to complain now, but can tell them how displeased we are, at least didn’t go down with out a fight.
