The TV Guide Network (TVGN) formerly gets his facelift beginning on January 14th, 2015 when it becomes POP!
According to Pop President Brad Schwartz who revealed to The Wrap, “Current TVGN viewers will see that we’re taking the channel that they’re already watching and we’re making it look better, we’re making it more exciting and we’re adding a lot of original content to it. New viewers are going to stumble in and come to a network that feels fresh and has a differentiated point of view than anything else on television and has an exciting new voice in the pop culture landscape.”
The new branded cable outlet channel will now have more of an emphasis on celebrating fans of TV and pop culture. It’s target audience is known in the demos as the “modern grownup” in reference to men and women in their mid to late-30s.
Of most interest to soap fans is the previously announced docu-soap featuring Vanessa Marcil Hunter Tylo, Chrystee Pharris, Crystal Hunt and Lindsay Hartley, Queens of Drama, which has now been slated for its debut in the spring of 2015. As for the actual premiere date that has yet to be announced.
POP’s inaugural slate of new shows in 2015 include: Rock This Boat: New Kids On The Block, The Story Behind and Schitt’s Creek, plus its award show coverage of Live with ET At The Grammys And The Oscars – all of which bow in January and February of next year.
