That is so sweet Tristan. Sometimes we are just so moved by something & we don’t alway know why. For instance, I cried like a baby when my husband told me Larry Hagman had died. I mean, really. So I understand my friend.

I wonder if any of the black families will be coming back for GH50… it’s all well and good to suddenly have unnamed black day players – but there were strong black families and characters at GH… where are they? have they been forgotten??

    Tristan replied

Odd you should bring this up, as I was thinking this when Edward died. He had a black son, after a war-time affair with Mary May (the great Rosalind Cash). This was a storyline introduced in 1993. Though the son died (under circumstances that seemed to implicate Edward), he had a son Justus, who was, thus, the biological grandson of Edward and acknowledged as such by Edward. I was simply shocked that in all the discussions of ELQ shares and throughout the power struggle between AJ and Tracy, that the issue of the shares left to Justus as a grandson were totally ignored, or forgotten. There is talk of some mysterious new Q heir — spawn of Franco — but in actuality the other outstanding shares should be held by the black side of Edward’s lineage. I am disappointed that this storyline has been forgotten. This would be a very easy way to diversify the canvas, add more Qs, and make the power struggle even more interesting.

Justus died also. There was never said that he had children. I’m just getting excited about so many of the favorites from the past will be returning, even if only for a short period of time. These have been really good shows coming from GH this year.

    ashlee replied

Agreed. And not to mention Jimmy Lee Holt, Edwards first discovered illegitimate son. He was played wonderfully by Steve Bond in the 80‘s. Jimmy Lee could have all kinds of kids, as he has not been on the show in over 25 years. If memory serves, he had a dalliance with Heather Webber back then. They could write it in that she had his child. That would forever link Heather to the Q‘s! I have been saying for years that GH should bring back Jimmy Lee and cast Tom Eplin in the role. He would be perfect and it would be awesome to have him back on our screens after he was unceremoniously killed off of As The World Turns. Carlivati is usually so good at using history of a show, so this is especially glaring that it is not being addressed. Unless he is waiting for a big story down the road, I really feel he has dropped the ball big time here.

    Marcello Aurelio Lanfranchi replied

I wholeheartedly agree. I’ve been wondering since the death of Edward how they would handle that side of the Quartermaine legend. In addition, Tom Hardy’s wife, Simone, as well as Claudia and Brian. Ron and Frank helped develop a strong presence of people of color on OLTL. I keep waiting for them to diversify GH.

    jim replied

I agree with you. Why introduce someone new when they could have used Justus who is already a known Quartermaine? They should stick with the shows history. Instead of Shawn and T.J. they could have had the actors been Justus and his son T.J.

    CTwildheart replied

I could be mistaken, but I thought they were mentioned when AJ and Tracey were discussing (separately) who would vote for whom in a vote for CEO…

    Lin replied

Please GH do not make Healther Webber an heir. I can not stand the character, and hate having her on the show. I thought it was really wrong that they kill Justice (was it spelled Justis?). I hope there is no Franco heir.

    Lin replied

And why isn’t Brook Lynn an heir?

    Tristan replied

I had no idea Justus had died! When was this? I had completely forgotten about Tom and Simone Hardy. As Audrey and Steve’s son and daughter-in-law (directly tied to the show’s first leading man and leading lady), one would hope they would be back, especially to celebrate Steve’s legacy. Also TOTALLY forgot about Brian and Claudia!!

Just for fun, and because I was SO ANNOYED by the SoapNet Valentine’s Day marathon selections (no Steve and Audrey, Frisco and Felicia, Anna and Duke…), I logged on to You Tube and watched some wonderful old episodes of GH from 1963, 64, 65….Steve and Audrey in all their youthful glory, plus Sharon and Henry Pinkham, Meg and Lee Baldwin, Jessie Brewer, Lucille March….Then I did a few from the mid-70s and saw Laura with David Hamilton, Leslie and the original Rick Webber, Annie Logan, Jeff Webber, and Joe Kelly. A great resource to remember the people who put GH on the map. Supposedly SoapNet is having a 50 hour marathon in celebration of the anniversary. Based on the awfulness of the Valentine’s Day selections (all post-1994), anyone who wants to remember the show’s true legacy and its original stars may have to depend upon You Tube. I have extremely LOW expectations that SoapNet will do any real justice to the entire 50 year history of GH. People seem to forget, it was great in 1963, not only after 1993.

    Desi replied

I totally agree with you Tristan, they need to bring back Justus

    Edward fathered 4 children;

    Alan with Lila (deceased 2007)
    Tracy with Lila
Bradley Ward with Mary Mae Ward, (deceased 1974)
Jimmy Lee Holt (birth name Eric Quartermaine) with Beatrice LeSeur (disinherited)

    Grandchildren are:
Antoinette “Skye” Chandler Quartermaine – Adoptive daughter of Alan,
Alan “A.J.” Quartermaine, Jr. – Son of Alan and Monica, (believed deceased 2005)
Jason Morgan – Son of Alan and Susan Moore, adopted by Monica, fraternal twin of Franco, (believed deceased 2012, but not declared at time of Edward’s death)
Robert “Franco” Frank – Son of Alan and Susan Moore; adopted and raised by Elizabeth “Betsy” Frank. (believed deceased 2012)
Emily Quartermaine – Daughter of Alan and Monica through adoption; (deceased 2007)
Edward “Ned” Ashton – Son of Tracy and Larry Ashton.
Dillon Quartermaine – Son of Tracy and Paul Hornsby.
Justus Ward – Son of Bradley and Isobel. (deceased 2006)
Faith Ward – Daughter of Bradley and Isobel. (wants nothing to do with the Quartermaine family)

    Great-Grandchildren are:
Maya Ward – Daughter of Faith.
Brook Lynn Ashton – Daughter of Ned and Lois Cerullo.
Michael Corinthos III – Son of A.J. and Carly Benson, adopted by Sonny Corinthos.
Lila Rae Alcazar – Daughter of Skye and Lorenzo Alcazar.
Jacob “Jake” Spencer – Son of Jason and Elizabeth Webber, raised by Lucky Spencer. (deceased 2011)
Daniel “Danny” Morgan – Son of Jason and Sam Morgan.
Lauren Frank – Daughter of Robert “Franco” Frank.

Hope this helps. Please note I listed AJ, Jason and Franco as believed deceased. AJ has turned up alive, Jason has yet to be declared dead and I have a feeling Franco might someday turn up again. The dead never seem to stay dead!

I was thinking the same thing. I used to watching it when I was a pre-teen as my mom watched it. I remember those blue hospital walls.
There was the nurses desk with Jessie and Lucille. Dr. Hardy was always in one of he two hospital rooms. There was Audrey and Lee Baldwin. If Michael Fairman reminds me ahead of time, I will watch the General Hospital 50th Anniversary.

Who is this character connected to on today’s cast?

    Reply

    Lin replied

Mark, Audrey Hardy was the sister of an original character Lucille. She married Steve Hardy who was the head of General Hospital (Chief of Cast, I think) until the actor who portrayed him died. Audrey continued on the show even after Steve died. Audrey was a nurse at GH. She may have become chief of the nurses. I don’t remember all the details (this was all before VCRs and I only watched GH on and off back then anyway) but she had a son with someone else who was adopted by Steve. (I believe she and Steve married and divorced at least 2ce.
Also, Audrey is Elizabeth and Steve’s grandmother. I don’t remember how that is, but for years they reduced her role to only interacting with Elizabeth. Also Audrey was best friends with Monica Quartermaine. There is some kind or relationship to Scotty Baldwin who is coming back on.

    jim replied

She had a son named Tommy from a previous relationship.

    Tali replied

When I started watching GH back in the day Audrey Hardy had just been raped by, I believe Lee Baldwin’s brother which led to a pregnancy. Maybe someone can refresh my memory. It was something like that.

    Marcello Aurelio Lanfranchi replied

She had a son, Tom, though I don’t remember who the father was (Lee perhaps?). But Steve Hardy adopted him. Steve also discovered that Jeff Webber was his son, which is how she is Elizabeth’s “Gran.”

    Lin replied

Here’s an explanation of Tom Hardy. http://general-hospital.wikia.com/wiki/Tom_Hardy_(Matthew_Ashford)
Evidently she divorced steve and married Thomas Baldwin, but was in love with Steve. He raped her and she ran away and divorced him when she found out she was pregnant. She originally named the baby Steve but for some reason (stupid reason) the son was renamed Tom. Evidently Lee Baldwin’s brother was not a good person.
Does anyone know why Lee’s widow Gail is not goign to be on. Has she passed in real life? The actress was Susan ??.

    Lin replied

I thought Lee was dead, but looked online and found nothing to indicate the actor or character had passed. Lee and Gail (if they want to come to the “Nurses Ball” certainly should.

    Tristan replied

    She is Elizabeth’s grandmother.

They haven’t shown any clips of the originals since the show’s 10,000 in 2002! Hoping Lee Baldwin makes an appearance too. Richard Dean Anderson would be Coup.

Scotty is her nephew by marriage, Audrey was married to Scotty’s Uncle, Tom Baldwin.

Whether you love or hate what Frank & Ron are doing with GH, and I LOVE, you must be appreciative and thrilled that Rachel was asked back. This shows beyond a doubt how much respect and love they have for GH’s legacy….which was quite frankly decimated by the previous regime. Even if its just for a day, just to see her, it would be very emotional. I read that Frank wants to also mention Amy Vining whose portrayer, Shell Kepler sadly passed away. Personally, I appreciate any of the actors who have agreed to come back…for however long or short…it means a lot to me that they appreciate what GH did for them AND want to celebrate that with their fellow castmates and fans. BTW, after so many years of mobs of mob people roaming round, watching vampires is a breath of fresh air! Lynn Herring is GOLD! Welcome back Rachel!

Of course im not sure about Caroline who did run off with one of Jessies boyfriends. My response is an honest one. The question was do we care if she’s brought back… I don’t. I’ve been watching GH since the early 80′s so her role really means nothing to me. No need to be so touchy since I have different opinion. Also, my opinion isn’t a personal attack on her, as you seem to have taken it. Meh means who cares.
