    That is good..
    Nonetheless;
I do not care about the numbers..
I care about me.. my enjoyment, pleasure watching GH
If GH had only 2 viewers I would be one of them (Harry the other) until either I or GH dies :)

Long Live the #1 soap General Hospital!!!!!

Numbers=buy rates and without sponsors you and Harry would be acting out scenes in your basement of old GH scripts!

Days ratings are horrible. The show is so boring. I think Days may be the next soap to be cancelled.

Days has all their stories pumped and primed ready to go, but for last couple of weeks it seems to be stalling the progression of these stories to a snail’s pace. Hopefully now that September has rolled around they will let loose and fur will fly with the return of Stefano and Chad– John coming out his coma—Clyde actually doing some damage other than smiling and acting like a country bumpkin. For me the last couple of weeks on Days was like waiting for a pot of water to boil— you know it will boil, you know you can’t cook until it does– so come on already, boil dammit boil. LOL

I agree with you…James Reed is being wasted as Clyde…i expected better for him…the show is too focused on Sami/E.J.s storyline which is starting to get a bit stale…hopefully the return of Stephano, Chad, maybe Melanie and the arrival of Melissa Archers character will start the pot boiling…lol

DAYS numbers would be way higher if Nielsen households stopped watching on YouTube, which does not count. Any given episode uploaded on YouTube brings 3 times the viewers than that of Y&R! If you’re a Nielsen viewer, stop watching on YouTube!!!

If i miss an episode i check it out on youtube…it doesnt mean some only watch it that way…they might miss an episode and try to catch up like i did last week…its still the best soap but the Clyde/Jordon/Ben storyline is uneventful and uninteresting…this is the shows biggest problem…they need to excite it up or just drop it…Kristen is fun to watch but had she returned to town with a baby claiming its Bradys and later revealed to be Erics just as he is reinstaded as a priest, that would have made an awesome shocker! Hopefully the return of Stephano, Chad and i heard Melanie might come back in Nov., might heat things up…also Melissa Archer may help!!!

There are other ways to watch online that are counted..
NBC, xfinity, HuLu, on demand, and others..
If they choose to watch where they are not counted, that could be a problem..

I watch GH at ABC/ counted
    I watch Y&R at xfinity / counted.

Actually that is half true. X-Finity is counted.

Hulu/Watch ABC and others do not count towards Nielsen ratings because they do not show the same ads as the network broadcast. When they do then they will count.

Maybe that will change . Let’s not forget that Neilsen is for advertising so if one does stream the platform has to be ad supported. Even if one DVR’s and blows past commercials.

The real story will be the live plus 7 day numbers, that will give a more accurate idea if there is a significant jump for all soaps or if it is a medium most watch live.

    harry replied

It doesn’t count unless you’re part of the Nielson family.

The best way to stop people viewing on youtube is to go after the youtube accounts of those posting the episodes there. I have noticed the networks getting some of these pulled the last few weeks obviously realizing it is costing them viewers

The ratings or following them seems so pointless, its the same results all the time for the most part, with Y&R and BB, then GH and then DOOL, nothing really drastic happens to change those numbers no matter what, its not like the Today show making the monumental mistake of firing Anne curry and loosing their #1 standing to GMA, now that was juicy and it finally happened, and we had our villain (matt Laur) to blame, and over @GMA a survivor to cheer on(Robin Roberts), where are all those defectors that supposedly left Y&R when the evil JFP fired and let go of Michael Muhney and Billy Miller? so no matter what, its going to take who knows what for either Y&R to loose over 2 million viewer or for the other 3 to gain 2 million viewers for the ranking to change.

Days is a great show, way better than GH which I can only stomach once a week especially watching nina ad nauseum.

    Timmm replied

Well listen, Nina is a new character. She is in the middle of a big story and Cartini wants people to see and hear Michelle. She is a great actress and expensive. They will eventually tone her down and she will be fine. If you follow Y&R they brought Steve Burton onto that show and he was a bust until they connected him to the Newmans.

    CeeCee replied

Absolutely correct, Timmm. As I previously stated, my mother told me that when Michelle entered the Y&R stage, she was as crazy as a loon…exact replica of Nina. Everyone wanted her gone as she was the no.1 nemesis of Cricket, the Y&R princess. It would not be long until Michelle’s/Phyllis’s presence was sought full force.
So, yeah, it seems that history is repeating itself with Michelle as Nina. As you say, she will be fine in due time.

.numbers don’t mean crap, it’s only numbers eh ..

General Hospital is the #1 soap ..

Days of Our Lives is #2 ..

    B&B is # 3

    Y&R is #4 ..

Now, those numbers are correct and honest .. :)
and the only numbers that count in my world! .. Keeping it simple …

Keep telling yourself that, but that’s not what will keep your shows on the air.

GH for a lot of us isn’t even considered a soap opera under its current team. Sorry.

In that case, Pat? I would strongly suggest you stop tuning in. And, to whom are you apologizing?
Many of us on this site huff and puff about our likes and dislikes of characters, scenes and situations, yes. But we do it because we are fans and give opinions, as I keep saying…I now sound like a broken record. However, it is different from constantly whining about either the regime and the soap’s format.
After losing my faves, OLTL and AMC, I’ll take whatever soap the networks have to offer.

    PatF replied

CeeCee…I don’t. And GH offers up what a lot of people want to watch. But in the traditional sense it’s not really a daytime drama full time.

    But that’s okay too.

I do want all four show to survive.

  15. Linda says:

GH has been really good with the drama between Carly and Sonny and Franco and Ava and Sonny keep the show going all the time. Nina is a good addition and makes me wonder if she plans on stealing Ava’s baby. You’ve gotta have that story line in every soap! It will be interesting to see what is in store with the return of Jason.

The notion of Nina stealing Ava’s baby has already been surmised…whether it is a fallacy or not rests on TPTB. It will be interesting to anticipate where the ride will take us.

Glad to hear that! GH is number 1 in my heart! I’m a fan of Days as well. I do not think that YouTube is the problem. My reason being is because during their hour they are battling Y&R and B&B. Y&R is 12:30 – 1:30pm (depends on where you live.) B&B is 1:30-2:00 days 1:00 -2:00 pm. I only watch on YouTube if I have a doctor appointment and will miss Days. Other than that I catch it when it airs! I think
It’s their time slot and story, Their story’s are lacking right now. they will heat up. They always heat up around this time!

Congrats to GH on their ratings rise-they have been on fire!!
But Michael, how could you neglect to mention Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) & Nathan ( Ryan Paevy) who were a HUGE part of the Maxie/ Levi/ Lulu Wedding/Kidnapping story?

I am glued to my set for Lante & Naxi ! I love the adventure and can’t wait for more!!!

I said this last week and I will say it again since we are talking about ratings. GH will overtake Y&R in 2015 with the addition of Billy Miller. He is talented and he reminds me of Anthony Geary back in the 80′s, you just cannot take your eyes off this guy. He just demands your attention.

I am going to watch GH to see how Billy Miller does. It will be interesting for sure. Yes, I agree he will generate ratings but can he sustain that jump if the writing is not up to par?
I think you’re right–there is a little bit of a young Tony Geary in Billy Miller.
I hope to see Miller interact with the real Luke.

I love General Hospital. Have been a fan since the early 80′s. My favorite supercouples were Frisco and Felicia and Sonny and Brenda. I have to say, I can not take the on-slaught of Kristen Alderson anymore. Kiki Jerome is like nails on a chalkboard for me. The actress can hardly hold a scene, nevermind a moving, interesting, or real storyline. Please, let’s just end this debaucle. Having Kiki show up in random scenes-like her overhearing about Sonny and Carly’s one-nighter-only gives her more air-time and that is too precious to waste. I just can’t take it. I wish that the writers would focus on the core characters, the returned veterans, the historic families. Bring back more of the Q’s. Focus more on love stories. Friendships. Cliff-hanger Fridays. Let’s cut the on-slaught of the recurring cast members. The cast is too big. Storylines and focus get lost in the shuffle.

I love them both. So, where do I fit in? Being a fan of anyone or anything does not mean we can’t find fault with them. I love my husband to death. But, .he does things sometimes that drive me nuts…MEN !!! Lol.
The same applies to my soaps…I love them but, by the same token, I critique them.
