It’s ratings time again, and the week of April 25-29th was not good for ABC’s General Hospital! The one soap left standing by the alphabet network scored its all time record lows in two key female demos, 18-49 and 18-34.

In addition the recently canceled One Life to Live out performed GH in total viewers and ended up in the third spot of all the soaps, while GH came in at number four.

The only soaps to show gains in viewing numbers were the two lone CBS shows; The Young and the Restless, and The Bold and the Beautiful. View the ratings courtesy of Soap Opera Network after the jump!

OLTL LOST the most viewers of all shows last week BUT still remained the top overall watched of the network? I would say that is a sad indicator of how bad a state ABC daytime is in right now? Pathetic. It was only a 20,000 viewer difference between OLTL and GH. Yep GH is a goner too!

I hope the actors on GH are not buying into the Fronsian prose that “GH is safe”. That is code for “your ass better be looking for a new job”. I hate to say this, but I really think some of these actors are going to be in for a rude awakening. The talent pool of actors is rather saturated and the writing and direction of GH has not really given any of the actors any real challenges or opportunities for depth or character development.

OLTL has always had great story lines. I have been watching since I was a child. They were always trailblazers. They have always fostered diversity. They had a interracial storyline back when it was totally taboo, and have never faltered in telling the story. They have (for the most part, though there are about 4 actors that could fall into a hole) brilliant actors. I would love for OLTL to get a stay of execution. If ABC only keeps one soap, for the love of God and country, let it be OLTL.

I’m not surprised by the low GH ratings. The show went down hill when brenda came back and when they put michael with that older non acting woman.

OLTL is on fire right now! They have a lot more balls in the air the GH does. Fans are fed up with GH playing the same 3 characters and their kids. I miss when GH used to be an entire town of people who were front burner!

If GH would just show Sam and Jason married with a baby on the way..the ratings would go sky high. No one wants to see Jason as a hitman forever. Changes need to be made and this couple needs to be front and center in the romance department. Please GH..listen to the fans and give Sam and Jason a real family together.

Some might laugh but I really do enjoy a few things about General Hospital. Just not all of it and certainly not all of the stories. If the new head writer comes in and decreases certain characters screen time the show would be a whole lot better. Sonny,Carly and even Jason no longer interest me anymore. Not to mention Dante and Michael.
