Look like the masterminds at NBC and Days of our Lives efforts paid off, with the DAYSaster to carry viewers through the two weeks while NBC’s coverage of the Summer Olympics in London took center stage. While many lives in Salem hung in the balance during the gold medal break, upon the return of the series some characters were “killed-off”, and there was some key returns! All in all, it gave DAYS some of it’s best ratings in quite some time!
When breaking down the numbers, DAYS gained + 218,000 total viewers and it is firmly in third place of the four daytime soaps with almost 2.7 million viewers for the rating period of August 13-17th. DAYS also saw gains in every key demo and rating share for the week as well. An NBC press release also touted the gains by stating, “DAYS equaled the show’s highest women 18-49 and women 18-34 ratings since the week of November 21-25, 2011.”
The show with the next biggest gains for the week was General Hospital! The series which is becoming can’t miss TV at this moment with its umbrella stories, gained + 147,000 in the total viewers category. The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful held firmly onto the number one and two spot, even though both shows lost some viewers for the week.
Overall though, the soaps had a very good week August 13-17th. Now if the series can stick with stories they are dishing out that are resonating with the fans, perhaps we can increase some more viewership! View the entire ratings courtesy of Soap Opera Network here.
