The ratings are out for the week of May 9-13th and it looks like the return of Roger Howarth and great story including the antics of a crazed Marty Saybrooke continued to keep One Life to Live strong and firmly in the number three spot this week.  The soap also garnered an additional 85,000 viewers in total viewers.

On the converse, General Hospital which just fired it’s head writer, Bob Guza with Garin Wolf effective immediately, slid to the number five slot.  Days of our Lives landed at number four and gained the most viewers last week with 250,000.

The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful held steadfast the number one and two positions for CBS Daytime and in total soap viewers.

I hope Garin Wolfe has a chance to bring General Hospital back to it’s former glory. I’m really tired of mob related stories 24/7. Back in the ’80′s and 90′s General Hospital offered a nice balance between mob and hospital story lines with much more cast interaction between most if not all of the cast members. During Guza’s reign, the centerpiece became anything mob related. As a consequence, most of the well known characters were left High and dry or dumbed down to prop the mob stories. I really hope Mr. Wolfe is given the opportunity make GH his own after he cleans up Guza’s mess.

WE need to get OLTL to number 2. It is on the upswing. BandB is on downswing. As great as the numbers look, we have to keep in mind that last year, OLTL was experiencing their lowest ratings. The massive gain from week to week and last year is an improvement, but it can be better. WE have to get the word out that OLTL is on fire, Roger is back, Viki has story, Marty is off her rocker, Jessica thinks she is a boy and hitting on girls, Hottie Cutter is married to a woman who thinks she is a man and trying to seduce her back out. I haven’t been this entertained by OLTL in a long time…..since Stacy fell thru the ice. I can’t miss a day.

I LOVE General Hospital first and foremost. Although I watch OLTL on occasion, and even more so lately with its improved writing, it will never have the same place in my heart as GH. I want BOTH soaps to be saved!
