The ratings are out for the week of June 29th through July 3rd and it was CBS’ The Young and the Restless that scored best coming in again at close to 5 million in total viewers (4,950,000 to be exact) and gaining + 66,000 for the week. Y&R head writer and EP Chuck Pratt Jr.’s storylines and the latest happenings to the character of Genoa City are clearly keeping viewers tuned-in, and not tuned-out.
But things are not boding well of late in the ratings for ABC’s General Hospital, which should hopefully see an uptake in viewers when the next two ratings weeks are released, because of it’s return of little Jake Spencer (James Nigbor) storyline and the full return of Jonathan Jackson. However for the ratings week in question, GH lost the most viewers of any series losing -121,000 and dipping to total viewer totals of 2,539,000. In addition, GH also suffered a new low in women 18-49 for the week which has happened now three weeks running.
Days of our Lives gained some viewers ever so slightly with +23,000, coming in at a viewer count for the ratings period averaging +2, 382,000. But again, with the big returns slated for the series 50th anniversary, could DAYS be primed to take over the third spot from GH? Can GH hold them off and get back its numbers with its recent riveting emotional episodes, and what they have planned for the fall?
As for The Bold and the Beautiful, the CBS Daytime drama continues averaging over 3.7 million in total viewers, but took the biggest hit in the 18-49 demo for the week losing -75,000, even though every soap was down in that category. Check out the entire ratings picture courtesy of SON here.
