An item over the weekend from Programming Insider indicates more sad news for All My Children fans, and those of the romances of Erica Kane (Susan Lucci).   This past week on January 25th, Mike Minor, who played Brandon Kingsley on the iconic Agnes Nixon series reportedly passed away from cancer.  Minor was 75 years old.

Soap fans will recall that Erica Kane (Susan Lucci), who was down on her luck at the time met, a charming and handsome CEO of the Sensuelle Cosmetics company, Brandon Kingsley.  The new man in her life eyed to have Erica become the spokesmodel for the company.

At the time Erica was married to Tom Cudahy (Richard Shoberg), but her ambitions got in the way and they divorced.  Leaving Pine Valley behind, she started a whirldwind romance with Brandon as she rose to the top of the modeling world.  But eventually Erica’s affair with Kent Bogard, and Brandon’s betrayal that he already had a family and two kids crashed their love story.  Minor appeared on the show from 1980-1982.

Mike Minor’s most memorable role was that of Steve Eliot on Petticoat Junction for over four seasons. While on the series he met and married his co-star, Linda Kaye Henning. The couple was together for five years from 1968 -1973.  Minor was also known for his singing voice.

When Petticoat Junction left the air in 1970, Mike began to work in daytime soaps appearing on The Edge of Night, As The World Turns,  Another World, and  All My Children.  His final TV acting appearance was on a 1993 episode of L.A. Law.

My condolences to Mike Minor’s family, he was a talented actor with a terrific, distinctive voice. I recently watched a few episodes of Petticoat Junction, such a great old show! I especially love the episodes where the train is decorated for Christmas – I still remember seeing it for the first time as a young child. Brandon Kingsley was among my favorites of Erica’s husbands on All My Children. I still miss All My Children and One Life to Live.

    Hello,
My heart is broken to hear of Mike Minor’s passing. I grew up watching Petticoat Junction.
I was so young watching when Steve and Betty Jo got married.
I was ecstatic when they got married in real life. He was so handsome and charming. He will
never be forgotten. I wish I had gotten an autographed picture. May God bless his family
    at this time of bereavement.
    Thank you!

My condolences to the family. I smile when I watch re-runs of Petticoat Junction nowadays, as he was my big crush as a child – the choice of husband for my Barbie Doll when playing as a little girl! What great memories, and what an impact someone you never knew can make on your life. I’ll always remember him fondly, and imagine so many other folks my age do, as well. God bless those who miss him.
