On-Air On-Soaps caught up with some of the dazzling stars of Revenge, and the executive behind the scenes, to get some inside scoops of what is to come, how they like working with each other, why the series has become such a runaway hit, their thoughts on daytime soaps, and of course, some dishy and fun tidbits! So far you have read our chats with Emily VanCamp (Emily), Madeline Stowe (Victoria) and Henry Czerny (Conrad) and how those steamy stars truly know how to show us … The art of revenge!
Today, we have for you two of the steamiest cast members who play the heartthrobs of Revenge, Josh Bowman and Nick Weschler. These guys on-screen alter-egos, Daniel Grayson and Jack,Porter, are all kinds of mixed up over Emily and her games! But who is the ultimate man for her? We chatted with the handsome duo to get their thoughts on the hit ABC primetime soap that is also becoming an international sensation from England to Australia!
Josh, being from England, it’s amazing how the English love soaps! Do you think that is why Revenge just got picked up there? Why do daytime or primetime soaps do so much better internationally than they do in the U.S.?
JOSH: Yes, the English do love the soaps. Look at the success of Downton Abbey! Our show Revenge has similar undercurrents with lots of secrets and stuff going on. With England being my hometown, if you will, I hope it does well there. But revenge is a global theme I think everyone can relate to. I think everyone can relate to a story of going after something they want, or hurting someone, or wanting someone to be hurt and not having the balls to do it. That is why I think this show is a hit!

Nick, what do you think about the phenomenal success of the show?
NICK: Oh my goodness. My answer used to be, “I don’t know. We just lucked out.” But then I saw episode 15 with an audience on the big screen and watching the fan reaction and feeling their energy. Having that reaction as they were watching the episode was pretty awesome. And you know what? It is, at least in part to the show. They do a great job.
Are you shocked each week by the scripts you get? Perhaps, where you would go, “Oh my God … he is doing this?”
JOSH: Always, always! Everyone in the cast of characters is. We look around and we laugh and we cry, and we pat each other on the back and we get angry. The room during our read-through each week is fantastic!

Daniel is finally turning into quite the juicy role!
JOSH: Yes, now it is! Our creator, Mike Kelley is writing some great stuff for me. Daniel, as of episode 16 is in jail, and there is some violence that is going to happen and some backstabbing that is going to happen, and more lies and secrets. It’s drama … high, high drama! It’s realistic without being unrealistic. That is what I will say.
Nick, what is the best part about playing Jack Porter?
NICK: I t is pretty different than anything else I have done. Usually, I play the bad guy, which is weird; because I am the quiet, most insecure dude you will ever have the pleasure of meeting.
The both of you have a romantic interest in Emily VanCamp’s Emily Thorne on Revenge. How is it working with her?
JOSH: She is fantastic and extremely talented. I learn from her everyday. She is a great actress and without her the show would be nothing!

NICK: She is one of the nicest people I have ever met. There is a thing where she tears up instantly when you get her to laugh. I love that about her. Sometimes, even more than acting, I like having a captive audience and just horsing around and making my friends laugh. So it’s always fun working with her and these people that I get along with so well. But just making Emily laugh is so satisfying when she has to wipe tears away! It feels just so good. (Laughs) I think you just get her smiling and she does it!
What can you preview that is ahead for good guy Jack?
NICK: Basically, Jack is going to start protecting his brother, Declan, and he is going in search of answers about Amanda.
Do you consider Revenge a soap?
JOSH: I think it’s a hybrid of one and soap-ish. It’s not too much of a soap, but it is a soap without it being over-the-top.
An all-new episode of Revenge airs Wednesday, April 18th (10PMEST on ABC) called “Doubt” Here is the lowdown: Daniel’s imprisonment sends Victoria to depths that no one thought possible, as the surprise return of a past love (James Purefoy as Dominik Wright) provides a destructive but welcome distraction from her family’s struggles. Meanwhile, Jack’s search for Amanda grows more desperate as he comes under suspicion for murder, on “Revenge.”
So who do you think Emily should end up with Jack or Daniel? Let us know!
