One more primetime soap opera is about to exit the airwaves!  After soap fans last saw TNT’s Dallas cancelled, now comes word that ABC and the producers of Revenge have decided that the upcoming May 10th episode of the series will be its last.  What this means is that after four seasons, Revenge will come to its conclusion.

The series which once brought in numbers in 2011 of over 10 million total viewers during an episode is now turning in numbers around 4.45 million viewers.

Revenge showrunner Sunil Nayar related to Entertainment Weekly:  “We can officially tell our fans that this will be the end of the story. We’ve been talking to the network and we all just wanted to make sure that we felt very confident. Now that everybody has seen the finale—which is fabulous—everybody understands that as much as we all adore the show, it has hit exactly the mark it needed to to end. This is the series finale of Revenge that will be airing in a couple weeks.”

Recently with Victoria Grayson’s (Madeleine Stowe) suicide and Emily (Emily VanCamp) coming out and admitting she is truly Amanda Clarke, the stage is set for a whopper of series finale, especially since its entitled, “Two Graves”.    Nayar  previewed:  “There are epic emotional moments in the finale. There are really shocking things that happen in the finale. It’s a tricky thing because the fans are such passionate lovers of the show and we really want to give them what they want, but the hard part about a finale in a show like this is you want to give them some of what they want, some of what they don’t know they want yet and some of what they never expected, and it needs to be a perfect mix of all those things. I truly believe our finale is the perfect mix of all those three things. I think they’re going to be extremely satisfied.”

Make sure to watch the series finale of Revenge on May 10th (10PMET/9PMCT).  Now let us know what you hope happens at the end of Revenge?  Can Jack and Amanda finally be together?  Will Amanda die?  Will Victoria come back alive?  Share your thoughts below!

    awww that is sad..
I really liked Revenge, a great primetime soap..

when Revenge first aired it was to be a short series and it went on beyond it’s time..

Gotham, Scandal, Good Wife, American Crime, Empire, are also great primetime soaps/series, there are others that are really good too..
But will miss Revenge, a lot :(
Revenge was awesome while it lasted!! I really enjoyed every episode!
The final episode will need a Kleenex !

Even though it would come full circle…I’m hoping David doesn’t die. But after all the people that got caught up in Amanda’s revenge, It seems a fitting irony. All too sad…but great TV.

I think Jack and Stevie will find Victoria and prove that she framed Emily as revenge for Daniel’s death. Emily and Jack will sail off with lil Carl…and then Faux-manda will show in the final seconds ready to reclaim her husband and son.

I have been a loyal fan and will miss watching the show. Certainly appreciated it while it lasted. At least I’ll still have “Mr. Suffrage” on PBS Sunday nights and “Downton Abbey” for one more season.

Sad, but not exactly surprising, given the recent direction of the writing. Now that all of the Graysons (excepting Charlotte) are residing here in Hell, and Emily has outed herself as Amanda Clarke, there really wasn’t anywhere for them to take the show.

Now if only they can pull off a series finale that is worthy of the show at it’s best. As opposed to some of the other series finales in recent years (don’t get a Devil started on LOST! )

Very disappointed but they’ve already killed off half the key players. Been missing Aiden and Daniel…basically all those that fell like the dominoe theory…one by one. I never tired of the show and will miss it. Jack, Emily/Amanda and of course Nolan…all great characters, relationships…interwoven into one passionate, exciting, engrossing he’ll luca ride! Hate endings…

I know! Just rather maddening when I notice it AFTER I’ve written what I thought was some brilliant insight! ;)

They really wrote Revenge into a corner however listening to the creator maybe that was intentional maybe they all knew that this wouldn’t last more than 4 seasons. It was a show like Prison Break in that great characters good ideas but it was never going to be a long running series due to the concept of the show. So its not to surprising. Yes they did things in the show that had plot holes sometimes & they started killing off favorites but it was still a great show & I actually never really looked at Revenge as being a Prime time Soap opera but I suppose it fits into that concept with the divorces & deaths & secrets I guess the one thing different is that they couldn’t just switch to another group of characters once characters with major story lines had ran its course on the show so they should be happy with its 4 season run because once it was revealed that Emily was Amanda Clarke really not much else you can do

I agree with you. Except I do consider it a night time soap. Actually when you look at many other prime time shows they also have elements of soaps you mentioned, plus betrayals and lies. Not as much, if any, of the children, baby dramas though. Probably should have been a mini-series.
