For its sixth and final season, the British period soap, Downton Abbey once again made the finals in the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama. They will go up against, The Crown, Game of Thrones, Stranger Things and Westworld. On the snub side: the widely acclaimed and highly-rated This Is Us failed to score a nomination in the category.
In addition, this is the first time that Dame Maggie Smith did not wind up with a Lead Actress in a Drama Series nomination for her performance as the Dowager Countess on Downton Abbey.
This Is Us was represented though by the fantastic performance of Sterling K. Brown as Randall Pearson in the Outstanding Performances by a Male Actor in a Drama Series Category.
However, Brown got a double-treat when he was also nominated for his performance as Christopher Darden in The People Vs. O.J. Simpson in the Outstanding Male Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries category, Brown shared his happiness in an emotional video that went viral following the news of his double noms.
