As this week comes to a close, it surely was one of the saddest for soap fans of The Young and the Restless! In one of the biggest shockers of the year, the extraordinarily talented and popular, Michael Muhney was let-go at the number one soap after four years of his memorable work as Adam Newman, one of the most complex characters on daytime that Muhney helped shape and define through various writing regime changes at Y&R!
There is no question that Muhney left his imprint on the role and raised the bar for any actor who would follow in his footsteps in the role of Adam. That being said, in Muhney’s exit interview with Huff Post Canada TV, he revealed what we had heard, that the show ultimately plans to recast the role. Muhney was told they wanted to give the role of Adam a rest for 3 to 6 months. Will the CBS soap do that? Or, will they recast sooner than that? Right now, fans of the long-running daytime drama hope that somehow CBS and Sony will see the pushback they have gotten over their decision and reconsider and rehire Muhney!
And while it is heartbreaking to think of anyone else in the role, we tried to envision who else could step into a role so dark and riveting as Adam Newman. And only one name stood out to us … that of Trevor St. John, the former Victor Lord Jr. of One Life to Live! Now the questions are, would Y&R even approach Trevor? If they did, would Trevor consider doing a major soap role in this juncture in his career? St. John’s acting sensibilities would seem to suit a role like this … the black sheep of the Newman clan.
In fact, we did some digging and found a video from a fan on YouTube which shows the commonality of the characters of Victor Lord Jr. and Adam Newman as played by St. John and Muhney with clips to the song, Three Days of Grace by Riot.
Watch the video below! Then, let us know if you think Trevor St. John could be a good fit for the role of Adam Newman if Y&R moves forward with recasting the role!
