Another soap bites the dust, and this time its the tantalizing women of Wisteria Lane who are finally going to be shown the front door and pink-slipped by the ABC Television Network when Desperate Housewives is officially canceled!

According to Deadline.com, at today’s, Sunday session of the Television Critics Association press tour they will announce that this upcoming 20111- 2012 season will the long running nighttime shows final year of production. Reports are stating that the series stars: Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, and Eva Longoria are shocked and saddened since the ABC Studios series created by Marc Cherry was expected to continue until 2013 after the longtime showrunner had said that he wanted the show to go for 9 seasons.

Deadline went onto report:  “ABC also contracted with the show’s four stars for the next season after lengthy salary negotiations with the quartet this past season. In addition to signing them for this coming season, ABC also got options on them for Season 9. But when this season’s premiere episode is broadcast on Sunday, September 25th, it will be the first for the series without Cherry at the helm. He stepped down at the end of last season as exec prod/showrunner and is expected to be a consultant on Season 8 while focusing on development of other series.”

To bad. It was a good show. When the soaps were cancelled, tons of people stopped watching ABC. I’m sure that didn’t help. It was a good show though, however, I won’t watch it again.

For me, here lately, ABC stands for “A Bunch of Confusion.” Another scripted show bites the dust. I guess the execs over at ABC won’t be happy until every single show is some kind of reality series. It’s bad enough we won’t even get a final season of Brother’s & Sisters…..now this. Guess they want another “Bachelor” type reality show. Is anyone else sick of networks axing scripted shows for more reality garbage? I know I am.

what a stupid decision-not everyone wants more reality shows- desperate housewives was so popular with a wide audience and age range–lets get petitions going, perhaps abc will listen if there is enough response
