We are sure All My Children fans feel the same as soap icon Susan Lucci in that they have gone through the grieving process of losing the town of Pine Valley and the characters they love from the soap opera map!

Earlier this week to promote her new series that debuts Saturday on Investigation Discovery, Deadly Affairs, Susan stopped by HLN’s Showbiz Tonight and chatted with host, A. J. Hammer.  During their chitchat, Susan went on to say that, “It’s been a year of mourning. It really has been a mourning period.”

Lucci continued to say how much she missed playing Erica Kane, but most importantly her cast mates and extended AMC family, who had become her friends and the laughter they all enjoyed every day on the set.

After the jump watch the segment with Susan, and let us know if you are still mourning the loss of AMC too!

I still miss AMC every day – it was a ritual to sit down at night and watch All My Children and General Hospital. I am now watching AMC classic episodes on Soap Net and they are still better than 90% of what’s on tv today.

ABC/Disney should be ashamed of themselves for cancelling such a classic irreplaceable show.

I truly feel like ABC pulled the plug on “All My Children” far too soon. Once Lorraine went back into power as the head writer, the storylines were consistent and true to the origins of the series. If Lorraine had taken over before Pratt could have come in and destroyed the series, I would bet $1M that it would still be on air.

What should have happened is FOX should have picked up “Guiding Light”, “As the World Turns” and “All My Children” and become the best network for daytime television.

Have never understood why Fox or The CW never took the opportunity to get into the daytime drama game. It’s such a waste to have all of those stupid court room tv shows on Fox during the day, and I have no idea what the CW shows during the day….but I think both networks lost out big on not getting involved. Not to mention, Oprah Winfrey not picking up AMC or OLTL on her now struggling network.

FOX/The CW probably didn’t have the funds to home GL/ATWT/AMC so they couldn’t pick them up. FOX has been battling becoming an official main network for a while, picking up GL/ATWT/AMC would’ve made them a solid daytime channel and have excellent success within Daytime.

And I get why Oprah didn’t pick them up. I don’t blame her for making a business decision that she felt she couldn’t make.

I have alway’s felt that oprah didn’t make a wise buisness decision…Look at her OWN channel it’s not doing well at all…..

    Scott replied

OWN is failing because Oprah herself in incapable of programming a full network of variety instead of repeated old episodes of her friends’ series.

I do still miss ALL MY CHILDREN and likely always will. Thank goodness for Youtube and such which allow us to enjoy scenes and clips from this awesome daytime drama. Like a novel once read, we can “pull from the shelf” something from Pine Valley to relive the pleasure. Ms. Lucci is correct. It has been a year of mourning. And it is a crying shame the series did not get a pat close because of that misfire called Prospect Park. There is a song from the musical RAGTIME that goes “We can never go back to before…” It;s true, but I do allow myself that wish from time to time.
