13 September 25th, 2011 The Cast of Saturday Night Live Spoofs the AMC Wrap Party – Watch the Video!

Last night on Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock’s Alec Baldwin was the host. During the show, the SNL gang and Baldwin, a former soap star himself on The Doctors, spoofed daytime soaps with a fictitious look at the All My Children wrap-party which had Susan Lucci addressing the cast and crew about the end of the 41-year-old soap.  During her speech, many former cast and crew members popped in and the comedy ensued.

So watch the clip after the jump and let us know, do you think it was funny or offensive?

I hated it, thought they made a complete mockery of the Genre, as a whole. Not to mention how raw AMC fans wounds are right now. Shame on SNL, I realize the premise of the show is to make fun of current events but this was just wrong on so many levels.

I liked that they did a sendup but it just wasn’t that funny. It would have been better if they could have had real soap stars jump in and I would have loved to have seen Sarah Michelle Gellar play Susan ;-) The only thing that irritates me is that I know my beloved OLTL won’t get the same send off.

I thought is was funny. For SNL writers that probably did their best to nail every soap convention, they did a good job. What soap hasn’t had its share of lame amnesia stories, coma, evil twin, weird incestuous relationship, secret paternities, and back from the dead surprises.

I agree. I wasn’t offended. The skit was horrible. It wasn’t funny. It was stupid. Now, I remember why I quit watching SNL years ago — the writing is terrible.

Some of it was funny, but I think they could have done a better job. Nice idea, but poor execution.

It wasn’t that funny, the girl playing La Lucci is horrible, she needs to stick with the Miley character.

I loved it [although I thought SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE would not mention ALL MY CHILDREN's ending since SNL is an NBC show & AMC was an ABC soap] & was pleased that it was mentioned. I think Vanessa Bayer [sp?] is a great actress/utility player. I still feel sad that AMC has left the building…but seeing the SNL skit made it a little easier to take.

I wasn’t offended but I agree, good idea but poor execution. SNL might also need new writers.

Horrible. It definitely made a mockery of the whole genre, instead of celebrating AMC’s long run in any way. It made me sick to my stomach to see the way they made fun of Susan Lucci. This is only contirbutes to the negative cultural bias in America of soap operas. Absolutely appalling. The end of the skit took it too far. With the ‘The End? ……………….Yes!’ The least they could have done was give a congrats to the show in that last second, but instead they took it a step further with the mockery. Appalling.
