CBS Daytime is commemorating 30 years at #1 with a variety of celebrations. From special programming to can’t-miss events, to classic video moments, photo galleries and promotions on each show’s website and CBS Daytime’s social media platforms.

The network kicks off the celebration the week of October 1oth with crossovers abound for all of the five CBS daytime programs starting with Y&R’s Jason Thompson, Peter Bergman, Joshua Morrow and B&B’s Pierson Fode, Katherine Kelly Lang and Heather Tom appearing on The Price Is Right.

Then on October 12th, it’s a big day for soap fans on The Talk when the ladies welcome cast members from Guiding Light, As the World Turns and Y&R and B&B!  Meanwhile, The Price is Right’s George Gray appears on the day’s episode of Y&R as a GC Buzz employee.

Mark October 13th for the return of The Talk’s Sheryl Underwood as Emmy on The Bold and the Beautiful, while ‘Price Is Right”s Amber Lancaster plays a model in a Brash & Sassy campaign.

In addition, CBS Daytime is unveiling the special exhibit, “CBS Daytime #1 For 30 Years,” at Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, Calif., honoring the Network’s five current shows, as well as legacy programs, including As the World Turns and Guiding Light. The exhibit, which runs Oct. 12 – Nov. 27, includes original set pieces, one-of-a-kind memorabilia and interactive elements to give fans a unique, hands-on experience. Also, four consecutive weeks of special panels are planned, featuring talent and producers from the CBS Daytime lineup. More details will be available shortly.

“CBS Daytime’s schedule of top-rated, award-winning programs has been a daily destination for viewers for more than three decades, becoming part of the fabric of America in the process,” said Angelica McDaniel, Executive Vice President, Daytime Programs, CBS Entertainment. “We have the best fans in television who join us every day to laugh, love, chat and cheer. Our celebration of 30 years at #1 honors the hard work of our cast, staff and crew and thanks our audience for their passion and loyalty.”

So what do you think about the upcoming episode of The Talk and bringing back stars from GL and ATWT that helped make CBS number one during their time on the airwaves in the last 30 years before their cancellations and the crossovers for the week of October 10th on all the network’s daytime programming line-up? I hope it will be veteran cast and not just younger characters from the show. I want to see Kathy Hays, Eileen Fulton, Liz Hubbard, Colleen Zenk, Kim Zimmer, Maeve Kinkead, people like that.

I will be watching The Talk, CBS is committed to their 2 soaps. I love Sheryl Underwood, she is a funny lady and she loves watching her soaps. She watches Y&R, Days and Bold And The Beautiful, and I do too. The talk is a nice talk show, it’s a big hit. Season 7, started a few weeks ago. I am a big fan of The Talk.

CBS rules, they support the remaining 2 Daytime shows. Guiding was terrible toward the end. The ratings fell and they cancelled it. ATWT went down hill too. But Y&R remains number 1, great soap and terrific cast. Long live the soaps.

Actually, Y&R has ratings that would’ve gotten it canceled less than 20 years ago. B&B deserved to be canceled many years ago. ATWT was not in last place when it was canceled. Y&R has lost more viewers than any soap in the past 30 years. Both remaining CBS soaps have lost most of their women viewers. Nothing for CBS to brag about.

I thought the same thing! Kind of …too little too late…right? I don’t care how “terrible” thing were “at the end” because they could have been fixed with some care and attention. Certainly had a talented cast, so probably needed some better writers and production . To me it is like, “Put you money where your mouth is, CBS.” You want to CELEBRATE GL and ATWT BUT you didn’t care enough about either to give them the needed ATTENTION when they needed it to keep them on the air. NO PROPS CBS. All the love ATWT AND GL.

CBS wanted to cancel GL and ATWT for many years before they did. Supposedly GL was canceled in the mid 90s but P&G threatened to never advertise on CBS again if they didn’t change their mind. Conspiracy theorists were saying that CBS sabotaged GL and ATWT so the ratings would tank and they’d have to cancel them.

Mollie…EXACTLY!!!!! As far as I’m concerned, CBS ‘wants to have their cake and eat it, too’. CBS CANNOT have it both ways!!!!! Nope. MANIPULATE HYPOCRITES!!!!!

    Have a good one, Mollie.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I still miss watching ATWT!

I AM SURE THE TRUE ACTORS OF THE DEFUNCT SOAPS… THANKS TO CBS …WILL BE ANXIOUS TO APPEAR ON THE TALK! THANKS FOR LOSING OUR JOBS….GUIDING LIGHT AND ATWT COULD HAVE BEEN IMPROVED AND WERE LOVED BY SO MANY BUT CBS DIDNT WANT THEM ANYMORE….THEY WANTED SOME THE PURE JUNK THEY HAVE ON THE NETWORK TODAY..

I LOVE and still love ATWT. The characters were so rich and the actors supreme. Would love a reboot.

Actually I am glad CBS is acknowledging part of the reason they were number in daytime for 30 years was because of Guiding Light and As the World Turns– if they failed to include them in the celebrations and only focused on the shows that are their schedule in 2016 would have been a far bigger insult—

I think it’s important to remember that P&G was the “killer” when it came to their soaps. They wanted out of the soap business and wouldn’t agree to sell their shows to any network. They even took their soap website down a little bit after all their shows were off network TV.

Although I was only a fan of ATWT, I must admit I am on the fence about The View. I only watch when someone or something interesting is on. The only host I enjoy is Sheryl Underwood. Julie Chen completely turns me off. To me she acts like she is superior and above everyone. I say the only reason she got the job is because her husband is a big wig at the network. But getting back to the topic at hand, I hope they bring on the “vets”, regardless of what show they were on. I would love to see Kim, Barbara, and Lucinda from ATWT. They were always my favorite characters. I would also love to see Susan Flannery. I miss her. Now there is a soap vet. I am a longtime fan of Y&R and B&B, I meant to say that out of the canceled shows, ATWT was the only one I watched

I agree with you soapqueen, about The Talk. (I assume that’s the show you were referring to.) I can’t stand the show myself, and only watch it when a soap star is on…if I hear about it. The Talk, along with The View, and any other spin-offs from that show are all pretty awful and I don’t watch any of them unless they have a guest I want to see. Then I record the show and FF to the segment I want, then delete!

You gotta know that Les Moonves is the ONLY reason Julie has this show, and Big Brother, which should have gone off the air after one season. It’s THAT horrible, IMHO.
I personally don’t care for Sheryl either. The only two hosts I don’t mind, that are the least obnoxious, are Aisha and Sara.

I love Aisha and Sherl Underwood. Sara is boring and she puts me to sleep. lol. Julie Chen is a very talented lady. Julie is very educated and has news background experience. she is a terrific broadcaster. Big brother is a big hit, it got renewed for 2 more seasons. I love Big Brother, the best reality show out there. love the voice and Dancing With The stars.

I pray to god Cheryl Underwood is off that day! Yeah, its good that she is a soap fan but she is SO over the top! When Steve Burton was on there and he announced he signed to be on Y&R she practically mounted him and she was so loud I had to turn the volume down on my TV!

Interesting. Since they will probably only have a few from each show on I would like to see Kim Zimmmer, Robert Newman, Jerry Ver Dorn, Maeve Kinkead, Tom Phelps and Ron Raines. From ATWT I’d like to see the actors who played Lilly, Holden (yum!), Jack (yum!), Bob, Kim and Eileen Fulton.

I am soooo looking forward to seeing cast members from ATWT and GL on “The Talk”. I don’t watch this show, but I will on the 12th. I would love to know what the casts are up to and see a lot of the vets.

I guess I am highly hopeful there will be a lot of cast members present, but realize budgetary restrains will probably only allow for w a few. Don’t care. I’ll take what I can, just to see actors from some of my favorite and gone shows and to hear what they’re doing now.

So now CBS wants to celebrate GL and ATWT for making them No 1 over the years? And they want to also celebrate the replacements (Deal and Talk)? CBS Daytime Executives think that we have forgotten about how GL and ATWT was treated by Procter & Gamble and by Barbara Bloom’in Idiot. I will not watch The Talk – Sharon needs to adjust her foul language but look who she lives with! And Julie got the show because of Les. Bring our old soaps back!

My mind must be slipping in my old age jaybird369. I completely forgot about the wonderful Hal Muson. Loved him with Barbara (Colleen Zenk) And who cannot forget Susan’s affair with Bob in the 1990′s? Don Hastings, Marie Masters, and Kathryn Hays in my opinion gave stellar performances during that whole storyline. Thanks for listening

I can’t and don’t want to talk about “The Talk.” However, the concept of Soap Opera is long lived; perhaps starting on radio although historians can probably find things in literature which precede. How interesting it would be to have a Ken Burns type of historical program. ( If Mr. Burns feels an apology is needed for the suggestion, I would always bow to his stature.) My prediction is that a lot of hidden viewers would come out of the woodwork to watch.

Soaps appear to fill very multiple needs for a lot of us. I would rather look deep into this as an art form rather than a pump on “The Talk..” The next statement sounds so trite, but things are evolving unless they aren’t.
