As we have been reporting all week long, last Thursday August 23rd long standing cast members of the number one soap opera, The Young and the Restless, along with recently ousted executive producer and head writer, Maria Arena Bell, took part in a panel discussion honoring the 10,000 episode milestone of the series at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, California.

The panel discussion was hosted by Brooks Barnes of The New York Times, a self-professed fan of Y&R.   Barnes led the proceedings with questions and lively chat with Y&R’s Joshua Morrow, Jeanne Cooper, Eric Braeden, Melody Thomas Scott, Kristoff St. John, Michelle Stafford, Doug Davidson, Christian LeBlanc and Peter Bergman.

The Paley Center for Media had just released the entire hour long panel discussion which features a Q&A with the fans in attendance, and many interesting comments about past and present Y&R.  Now after the jump, watch the video and let us know what moments piqued your interest the most!

Oh wow, Michael! Thank you so much for that special treat. I would have loved to gone to see this in person, but with the two little ones at home, it was not possible.

I really love seeing the actors as themselves. You can see the mannerisms of their characters are the same, but to see them laugh and tell stories is truly wonderful.

Seeing Maria Arena Bell I got a new perspective of her. It is a shame that Y&R was not her total focus because I think her heart was in the right place, but her body was not always there. The things she said about getting to know the character of Phyllis via introducing Avery made a lot of sense. At least MOCA has her now and that is a good thing.

Kristoff was a riot. His wish list for Neil was so funny!

Joshua talking about Amelia and the reliquary was awesome. I remember that storyline and I could just see them cracking up over it.

I think anyone that thinks negative of Eric Braeden should watch this. To see him so affectionate with Melody Thomas Scott and Jeanne Cooper; to genuinely smile and laugh; to share intimate thoughts about the actors and characters really puts him in a different light. I have never thought negatively about the man, but this made me like him more. I love to see the real person. Some of the funniest things in a movie are the outtakes because you get a glimpse of the real person and not a part they play. This demonstrated that so well.

I fell in love with Michelle Stafford today. Sometimes she had me questioning her as a person by what she says on Twitter, but something about the panel just endeared me to her.

The stories about Jeanne fondling all the men was priceless as was the “coat” and “shoe” bit.

I agree with Melody. I would LOVE to have Bobby Marsino back on the show. The prisoners in jail being fans was funny.

The only sad parts were that Christian and Peter did not have much to say until audience members directed questions to them. I guess that is what happens when you sit on the ends like that.

Overall I think they had the right cast members on the panel. Thank you again, Michael. You made my day. :-)

I would love to see the flashback episodes that had everyone tearing up. Perhaps Michael could upload that video footage.
