25 July 2nd, 2015 The Young and the Restless Scores Largest Second Quarter Ratings Since 2010!

Say what you will about the decisions or directions of certain storylines from head writer and executive producer Chuck Pratt, but the fact of the matter is The Young and the Restless is not suffering one bit!

The number one soap opera averaged over 5.16 million viewers for the ratings period and that was up 5% from last year. From disaster storylines, to doppelgangers, to a murder mystery and more, the current Y&R regime and its faster moving stories and sometime sensationalistic story points are moving the ratings needle upward.

While some different couplings are being explored, and while some characters have exited the canvas, Peter Bergman’s (Jack/Marco) dual role being front and center, and the truth about Gabriel’s (Justin Hartley) true identify getting closer and closer to being revealed,  5 million plus eyeballs is nothing to sneeze at whether it be a primetime or daytime series!

So, what do you think about Y&R’s ratings performance in the second quarter, it’s best in five years? Comment below!

    I have always said;
Pratt is good and will give Y&R a big turn around, and he did..
I believe I was a rare one who praised Pratt and I was attacked by a horde of crazed fans for luvin Pratt..
It was frightening. They came after with me with torches and pitchforks!!
    (I told ya so heh)

Pratt and RC are both high quality soap scribes …
RC will be struttin his stuff, soon as the exit dies down..

No, I think you were admonished for constantly expressing this inexplicable hatred for Sharon.
Now you’ve transferred that puzzling kind of hatred onto GH’s wonderfully talented Genie Frances.
No one came after you for complimenting Pratt. In fact, most of us were pleasantly surprised that you FINALLY had something positive to say about Y&R.

You Harry are the one saying hatred for Sharon, I never said I hate her..
I said, she irritates me.. again- she highly irritates me ..As does Laura..
Websters will inform you’ hate and irritation are not the same :)

I have never once said a bad thing towards any writer of Y&R ..
And, I have always liked Pratt..
Harry dear, you need to stop using your words, thoughts and feeling and saying they are mine or I will have to charge you for your booboo’s a buck a pop :)

I hope this means Peter Bergman is getting a big raise because he is the ONLY reason for these good numbers!

I agree. Where does my viewrship count? Ok im from Canada but regardless im a viewer and im not counted. My cousin lives in New York and she watches GH everyday, just like me and she is not counted. How many are not counted then?? In my humble opinion, ratings can say what they want. GH is the best soap opera. Period.

Even though the show sucks I am still happy to see high ratings so the cast and crew can keep a job

I absolutely love Y&R. I don’t always agree with Chuck Pratt and his storylines, and he has axed (killed/written out) a few great actors with no good reasoning (Courtney/Austin/Tobias), has broken up another iconic couple over something that should have brought them together (Michael/Lauren), and has broken the backbone of the Young and the Restless with the last separation of Victor and Nikki Newman, the Patriarch and Matriarch of the show. I think at this point the 5% may just be curiosity. I love my soap but I pray that Pratt does not take it to the point of no return and it gets cancelled. I’m afraid that “5%” may just be a fluke. I will always be a loyal Y&R fan, but Pratt still needs to go…and that, I’m sure of 100%.

Sadly, a great number of us watch #YR out of misplaced loyalty and the investment we’ve made for decades in this show. It’s troubling that the rating ‘boost’ doesn’t reflect how viewers really feel; it only says we’re watching (…perhaps while screaming obscenities at the television screen?!) Sometimes things are not as they seem and defy logic: look at the evolved segment of the population that wasted brain cells following Honey Boo Boo and Duck Dynasty?! Or when #GuidingLight won Outstanding Drama Series in 2007 (…while Ellen Wheeler was slowly committing ‘drama-cide’ by kidnapping viewers and making us visit Peapack, NJ!!) Sometimes, you just need to turn-away. Pratt/Phelps are delusional if they really believe #YR purists think this sophomoric storytelling is serving the viewers (or the Bell legacy) respectfully…

Glad to hear! , so sick of the fans turning on the show because of the storylines, it appears that those who say they don’t watch it anymore are still watching!!! It’s a soap people, let the stories play out…

I will always watch Y&r, regardless of the ‘FAROUT’ storylines. I have been watching for almost fifteen years….that’s half my life…LOL.

I’m watching–don’t know why but I am so it must be doing something right.
Victor is a constant source of amusement to me. Yet again, we get to see him sneak up upon a comatose Jack with a pillow only to have someone walk in on him making Victor pretend that the was just trying to make Jack more comfortable.
    Victor cracks me up.

Victor is gonna freak when he finds out he shot ”Jack” and not Marco..
Victor is going to have a lot splain to do !!
He will come out on top..

I do think Jack will say that Victor shot him, he will blackmail Victor with that fact forever .. cool ..
I like Victor much better than Jack so I hope Victor will once again work his no blame magic..

    Awesome for Y and R!
I have decided to go with the flow and
not freak out about the changes I don’t
like, and focus on what I find still good
about it. I will never stop watching.

Hated when creepy Sage came onboard,
but loving the new character of Marisa. Taking
the good with the bad as the saying goes, lol.

Love the show, been a watcher since day one and plan to continue. It is like reading a good book you don’t want to end and have to put down. Don’t always agree with all that goes on but love the show none the less. I will not stop watching….

YR is still much better than GH, and the ratings reflect that. Time for GH to get a new had writer.

Right now I am on the fence– I don’t really like what’s on screen, but I don’t hate it either. There is just something missing that used to be there– maybe it is shades and shadows of storytelling where characters are more than one note stereotypes. Sharon is always off her meds, Nikki is always drinking, Michael is always brooding, Billy is always angry, Victoria is always defending Victor, Dylan is always perfect and so on and so on. Characters have become blah– I don’t care about any of them.

So yes plot wise things have been stirred up, but if I don’t care about the characters the plot is just fluff. So the plot does keep me watching just to see how it turns out, but I am not engaged in the storytelling. I watch most of the show while I am playing games on my computer– I am listening, but I am not really watching.

I missed the characters, right now they look and act like the characters I have always known, but it is like pod people have taken them over and I don’t know them or like them anymore.

As I stated in a previous post, I’m still waiting for the real killer of Delia to come to light. At first I thought Courtney, Stitch, or the other police officer was/is the killer of Delia.
However, since there is a Jack lookalike, maybe he killed her and got someone to cover it up. Also, I’ve never understood how a person could enter the police station and shred papers, or take Courtney without anyone saying anything or being suspicious unless it was someone who worked at the station or someone known by the police.
I truly hope this pays off big and soon!
