25 October 12th, 2016 TODAY: ATWT and GL Reunions On Special Soap Celebration On THE TALK!

Soap fans do not miss the Wednesday, October 12th episode of The Talk on CBS Daytime.

The episode is an all-soapfest featuring current stars of The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful, but also will feature reunions of several cast members from the beloved As the World Turns and Guiding Light.

This week, CBS Daytime kicked-off their number one for 30 years celebration as the top daytime television network.  For three decades the daytime dramas you have loved have been a massive part of the reason it has remained in first place.

So, tune in at 2PMEST/1PMPST today to see the ladies of The Talk welcome from As the World Turns: Martha Bryne (Lily), Elizabeth Hubbard (Lucinda), Ellen Dolan (Margo) and Colleen Zenk (Barbara), and from Guiding Light: Kim Zimmer (Reva), Robert Newman (Josh), Grant Aleksander (Phillip), and Beth Chamberlin (Beth).

In an ironic twist, ATWT when it went off the air in 2010 was replaced by The Talk, while Guiding Light left the airwaves in 2009 with the most episodes logged combining their radio and TV episodes through 72 years.

So, are you ready to walk down memory lane with the folks from Oakdale and Spingfield? Comment below!

I can’t wait. If the ratings spike for this episode, the network should consider an intelligent soap themed talk show for the daytime line-up, with past and present performers. It would certainly appeal to the disenfranchised daytime soap audience.

I would love if someone would reboot Guiding Light, Another World, and All My Children. A revisit of a young Josh, Reva, and Billy triangle. A rekindle of the
Alice, Steve, and Rachel rivalry would set the world on fire. OMG!!! A young Erica Kane with her ambitions of being a super model is classic soap. All the above is my ultimate Christmas wish.

Awww!!!!! Bud and Reva together again for one last time.

While I don’t watch The Talk today was a day to watch. I have enjoyed these wonderful actors for more then 30 years. I remember first seeing Guiding Light when Philip and Beth had ran away. And all those wonderful stories that would follow. Within months I began to watch Capitol and As The World Turns. When both Atwt and Gl were canceled I was so disappointed. I had already seen so many of the daytime dramas that I loved be canceled. The Monday following the last Gl I began watching y&r and b&b. I was already watching ABC daytime lineup. With all the lost of the daytime actors who have passed on it is such a joy to see these actors who I have loved over the years. That’s to YouTube I get to go back and watch from time to time. I would love to see these actors show up again in daytime.

I have missed GL that I first heard on the radio when it was on so many years ago. Bert and Bill, Papa Bauer and the rest of the family. When I got married , I watched it on TV around 1954 until it ended. What a loss for daytime viewers! I watched ATWT when it started also, Y&R and B&B. It was wonderful seeing the stars from GL and ATWT. They have hardley changed a bit! It was a real treat seeing them, but would have enjoyed seeing more of them.

I wish the reunion was a hour long and more available castmates and a clip for Roger Thorpe, Michael zaslow! Come on CBS..you probably have a Y&R, Big Bang theory reunion specials on the creative table. Thanks The Talk! !

My feelings exactly, Lori. A full week dedicated to this salute would have been fine with me!

I wanted to see Zaslow also; he was one person who made Guiding Light a good Soap! Did they show Bert or Papa Bauer? I don’t remember seeing a clip , unless it went by quickly.

I thought the whole epsiode was very good especially seeing the ladies from ATWT. I have never stopped missing them but there was one glaring fact that did not click with me and I have made note of it before. It’s including Jason Thompson in something like this. He is doing a fantastic job playing Billy on Y&R, but he has only been with CBS and the show for 10 months. All the others have worked for CBS for eons. I like the actor but I feel another actor should have been in place instead of him with that other actor being someone who has some sort of longevity with the network as opposed to someone who has under a year with CBS.

You’re right, James. My thought was that maybe they want JT to seem more likeable to audiences. I personally can’t stand his work as Billy, or maybe it’s the writers telling him, “Be even more repulsive and sarcastic than yesterday.” Anyway, that chair should have been for Peter Bergman, Jess Walton, or Doug Davidson. Or how about the first actresses to win Emmys, Tracy Bregman and Beth Maitland? That would have been a real salute to the legacy.

I don’t watch “The Talk” but this show was the exception. It was so nice to see some of the stars of my beloved GL and ATWT for a few minutes. They all looked fantastic! Just wish the hosts of the show could have read their questions better, especially Sharon. (Reading is fundamental.)

Loved the show. Loved seeing the girls from ATWT. I was getting all choked up right along with Collen Zenk (Barbara). Nice to see her looking terrific and feeling healthy. I remember when I first saw the scenes with John and Lucinda in the hot tub (my all time favorite) and the truth about Lily being adopted. Wonderful memories. Was left wanting more when the show was over. I can almost guarantee, if you check the ratings from the first episode of The Talk, and compare to the 10/12/16 episode, I bet the 10/12 show was the highest if not one of the highest since its premiere. People still love and want their soaps

I agree with you Mister Media. I never cared for this show. The only host I tolerate is Sheryl Underwood. To me Julie Chen is stuck up and self centered. I say the only reason she got the job is because of her husband. It was over to fast. I wish they had more time with each show. But I loved it nonetheless.

    Soaphound replied

So glad someone said that, Rodd. It got to the point that I was hoping the fans could have been invited up to ask the questions. They couldn’t have done any worse!

IT WAS WONDERFUL TO SEE THESE ACTORS…BUT WAY TO SHORT!!!!! WHAT A SHAME TO HAVE THESE PEOPLE COME ON AND SPEND MORE TIME IN THE MAKE-UP CHAIR THAN ON THE SHOW…..6-7 MINUTES FOR FOUR PEOPLE TO BE INTRODUCED AND TALK????????? TO THINK THE TALK TOOK OVER FOR A SOAP LOVED BY SO MANY FOR YEARS IS A REAL SHAME!!!!!! MONEY TALKS…..

I don’t care if there’s an anniversary or not. But wouldn’t it be nice if ABC did the same sort of celebration for GH, AMC, and OLTL. It was fun. Even today one of The Talk girls was on B&B in a scene with Bill. Must say CBS does a way better job of cross promoting their shows than ABC which only refers to their Disney properties.

Would be nice if CBS had longer reunion shows for both shows. This was way too short.

CBS Daytime and P&G dropped GL and ATWT with no shame. I can never forget their disregard for shows that brought them limelight for years. And The Talk is a horrible show to say the least.

Great seeing the reunion. Shame both shows went off the air. Perhaps CBS should cancel B&B (it hasn’t been the same since Stephanie and Ridge left), shorten Y&R to a half hour and bring back GL & ATWT (with good writers) in the half hour format.
