Former All My Children favorite and Daytime Emmy winner, Josh Duhamel (Ex-Leo Dupres) returns to network television tonight in his new series Battle Creek (10PMET/9PMCST) on CBS. The series is definitely a twist on the buddy-cop show genre set in Battle Creek, Michigan within the tiny population of approximately 50,000 residents.
In the set-up, a jaded detective Russ Agnew, played by Dean Winters, reluctantly partners with charming FBI Agent Milt Chamberlain (Duhamel) to solve crimes. The Battle Creek series pilot was created by Vince Gilligan of Breaking Bad fame, but since then David Shore of House fame has taken over all elements including: showrunner and executive producer of the show.
Series star Dean Winters explained to Variety that he took the role because the show felt fresh: “You’re got these two characters together who have a lot of respect for each other, but they’re not buddies, to say the least.” Friday, Duhamel and Winters visited the ladies of CBS hit afternoon series, The Talk to discuss the cantankerous relationship between their two characters, where Duhamel’s Milt seems to get all the notoriety and attention, but is hiding something, or clearly running from something to end up being a big time FBI agent who is displaced in tiny Battle Creek, Michigan.
