23 April 29th, 2014 TVGN Developing New Docu-Series SOAP TOWN!

TVGN which already has The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful in it’s nighttime line-up with its same day episode re-airings from CBS, is adding another program of interest in their just unveiled 2014-2015 upfront line up of shows!

The cabler revealed it has six new and returning original series and four primetime event specials along with exclusive cable premieres of  event programming airing on CBS. TVGN also announced three new original series in development, including a new project with Lionsgate Television.

But the one of interest for soaps fans is this! From the producers of Hatfields & McCoys and Gene Simmons Family Jewels comes Soap Town—a new docu-series which follows a group of former daytime and primetime soap stars as they attempt to produce a new primetime serial drama to star in.  The cast will need to work in front of and behind the cameras as they develop, pitch, and produce this new steamy series hoping to land a pilot deal by the end of the season.  Soap Town is being produced by Thinkfactory Media, with Adam Reed, Adam Freeman and Leslie Greif, serving as Executive Producers.

What do you think of the concept of Soap Town?  Interested to know who the cast will be? Who would you like to see from former daytime and primetime soaps in the cast?  Let us know!

It sounds much like Dirty Soap ..
Anyways.. TVGN is only on the higher tier of cable and it is not available on-line to watch ..
And Comcast does not carry TVGN..
    So, not on-line, I’m out … lol

FYI-TVGN is carried by comcast in my area. That is how I can tune into Y&R on occasion to see how really lousy that show has become.
Everything from the writing, direction, sets and production comes off as really cheap, compared to the way it used to be. Just my opinion!

Wish they would get the rights to AMCC and OLTL and produce them.

Reproducing 2 cancelled daytime soaps is too expensive for the networks.

ABC has been out more money on talkers that have failed then the soaps. It wasn’t they weren’t making money Anne Sweeney wanted out of the soap business…If you look at ratings GH is getting the golden age advertisers want more then any of their daytime shows….

That would be wonderful. Unfortunately, the alphabet people won’t sell them.

Sounds like a rejected pitch for E! network.

That’s exactly what I thought. I can’t imagine it drawing a very big audience. Limited interest at best.

They posted at least 3 episodes last year. I think It was last year. I don’t remember the date when it was posted.

I’d want to know who’s in the cast prior to commenting. After all, it sounds like it’s going to depend entirely on the “personalities” involved. (And is “docu-series” just another way of saying “reality show” ??)

But actually I’d prefer they pick up Michael O’Leary’s fabulous STEAMBOAT … which actually should be a weekly, half-hour, primetime dramedy.

My favorite soap star is Jean Carol who played Nadine Cooper on “Guiding Light”. Would love to see her on this show pushing a new soap the way her character entertained us so much pushing for all of her crazy, funny, heart touching schemes,
