The burning question on many fans of On-Air On-Soaps and of actor,Van Hansis, (Ex-Luke, As the World Turns) was why the actor did not throw his name into the hat for Daytime Emmy competition, as we reported here yesterday.  Van’s name is missing on the pre-pre nomination ballot.

Last evening on Van’s facebook page he took time to answer his legions of fans as to why, even though he seemed a shoo-in to get a nomination, he chose not to participate in the Emmy game.  Hansis posted: “Thank you all for saying how much I deserve that award. That is wonderful and kind and it melts my cold cold heart. But this year, what it came down to for me was how much did I want it, and I know “I could have been a contender” (Raging Bull, 1980, bet I’m the first soap actor to reference that!?! ) I realized I didn’t want it that much to go through the hoopla that comes along with it. I only ever wanted to win to tell my parents how much their support meant to me, and I did, privately, and it was awesome.”

Van also answered a line of questioning about his thoughts on his former castmate, Eric Sheffer-Stevens (Ex-Reid, ATWT) chances on winning the gold in the Supporting Actor category in which ESS is entered. Van stated simply, ”I am very excited for him. I know he is gonna win.”

It was so great of Van to come on and let his fans know not only that he chose not to submit for the Emmys but his reasons for doing so as well. Van is a very talented actor and it’s only a matter of time before we get to see him in bigger and better things. And what he said about his parents makes so many of us love him even more.

I am so proud of the amazingly talented Van Hansis! But I’m frustrated that he didn’t submit his work because he would have won, certainly.

And the reason why he gave for not submitting his name for nomination for the Daytime Emmy’s is the reason we love him so much & respect him & his work.
He also said that he followed his heart.

Aw, that’s too bad. He definitely deserved at least a nomination. I’m glad it was his choice and not some snub (unfortunately, other writers are not as professional as Michael Fairman, and that’s all I’ll say about that). His reasons make a lot of sense, though, and I respect them.

I’m so sad about him not submitting himself because I like so many others think his acting was beyond compare in 2010.But if this is his choice i can only respect it.Not only is he a wonderful actor but he’s a sweet and gracious man. There’s no one else like him….i will love him and be his fan forever !

As a fan, I fully support Van’s decision. I don’t care much for daytime Emmy, I only wanted it for Van but if he didn’t want to go through the hoopla then he didn’t have to.

All I want to hear is news about The Occupant and his future projects.

Van: Whereever you are, whatever you do, I have only best wishes for you. You mesmerized viewers and fans around the world including me with your realistic and outstanding portrayal of Luke (my all time favorite character on ATWT, Eric playing Reid being a close second). May you be blessed abundantly in all aspects of life.

“I coulda been a contender” is from On the Waterfront, not Raging Bull. (Just sayin’.)

It is from On the Waterfront, but it’s also from Raging Bull.Robert De Niro uttered those exact words when he portrayed Jake La Motta.Van was so right!

I really wish Van would have entered the emmy’s for his fans! We want him to win so badly and know he deserves it more than anyone. I love Eric and thought he was phenominal in his role as the great Dr. O, but VAN did the most with the character he was given and he could say more with a look than any other actor could say with a thousand words! He MADE that romance the BEST it could possibly be….of course, Eric did his part. I think these two had the BEST chemistry, bar none, I have ever seen and the love story of the decade….can’t get over them…ever!!! Still watch them on youtube and hope they will turn up on OLTL….Passanante wants to write for them again.

Actually, it was quite a relief that Van did not submit a tape (or whatever they do) for the nominations. I would’ve had a hard time if they both ended up in the same category.
It makes things easier for me–now I can root for Eric and send all of my positive thoughts his way. I think he will win! Van was exceptional in 2010 and everyother year and his body of work as Luke Snyder stands for itself. His trailblazing role was inspiring to many people-gay or straight-who wanted to live their lives proud of who they are.

I feel Van and Eric should joinly submit for the emmy because, let’s face it, neither would have been that phenenominal without the other….They were truly the best of the best and, together it was just pure magic….
