The burning question on many fans of On-Air On-Soaps and of actor,Van Hansis, (Ex-Luke, As the World Turns) was why the actor did not throw his name into the hat for Daytime Emmy competition, as we reported here yesterday. Van’s name is missing on the pre-pre nomination ballot.
Last evening on Van’s facebook page he took time to answer his legions of fans as to why, even though he seemed a shoo-in to get a nomination, he chose not to participate in the Emmy game. Hansis posted: “Thank you all for saying how much I deserve that award. That is wonderful and kind and it melts my cold cold heart. But this year, what it came down to for me was how much did I want it, and I know “I could have been a contender” (Raging Bull, 1980, bet I’m the first soap actor to reference that!?! ) I realized I didn’t want it that much to go through the hoopla that comes along with it. I only ever wanted to win to tell my parents how much their support meant to me, and I did, privately, and it was awesome.”
Van also answered a line of questioning about his thoughts on his former castmate, Eric Sheffer-Stevens (Ex-Reid, ATWT) chances on winning the gold in the Supporting Actor category in which ESS is entered. Van stated simply, ”I am very excited for him. I know he is gonna win.”
