Victoria Rowell (Ex-Drucilla, The Young and the Restless) highly-anticipated series based on her novel “The Rich & The Ruthless” comes to life and bows today as episode one is now available on the Urban Movie Channel.

The series “The Rich & The Ruthless” is a six-episode soap-within-a-soap about the first African-American-run daytime drama.

Rowell plays a just-out-of-rehab actress who wants to return to her old role. Lucky for her, she’s married to the showrunner (Richard Brooks). Unlucky for him, the series is about to lose its soundstages after 2o years to a talk show, and the last thing he needs to deal with is a diva.

Doing anything to keep the show on the air, he moves his production company to Jamaica, which is the backdrop for the series. Rowell, plays the role of Kitty Barringer wanting to be back on top in the world of soaps at all costs, and in her beloved role as “Blue Sylla”!

Daytime Confidential’s Jamey Giddens co-wrote the series along with Rowell. Make sure to subscribe to UMC to view the six-part sudser!

Same here, Lou. I am one of the few who loves Victoria. I wish she could return to Y&R….her family needs her. But, I know that won’t happen due to the ‘cold’ air between her and CBS. Too bad!!
Dru and Neil….a memorable couple, regardless of all their travails together.

    ditto about dru at y n r!
y n r has been so lacklustre i feel it needs a serious shot in the arm!
drucilla / victoria rowell back would be some make some serious gc buzz!
lily and hilarys rivalry had so much potential but crystal s portaryal of a cheated on wife by the sleazy cane has been so subdued i ve lost intrest. Dru needs to come back and fight for her children and husband against cane and hilary as only the great victoria rowell could!

    @damien.
Well said….especially the Cane part. Never took to him.
I am glad the writers are ringhting a wrong where Cane is concerned. Billy is no saint….never was; but, I don’t ever remember him doing something so evil and underhanded.
It’s time Cane pay the piper, damien.
Dru could turn this around for the Winters family in one fell swoop.

No pain to me; at least not anymore than some of the other stars. I need to find the channel. I want her back at Y& R , also, k/kay; plus, Michael Muhney or Engel as Adam .

chris engel back as adam would be amazing!
i liked him and the original heather together.
paul could use some family now too!
i feel the newman crap has been recycled enough already. some shift towards paul and chris or michael and laurens family would be refreshing.

Thanks, damien and Boop, for mentioning the original Adam. His name is actually Chris Engen. I certainly enjoyed him. As I recall (and verified online), the actor left Y&R because he refused to kiss another man (Yani Gellman who played Rafe). I believe he was willing to wear a dress for storyline purposes, but kissing another man was a bridge too far, however… I’ve known that type… :)

Then Michael Muhney, willing to kiss another man, took over the role. I definitely enjoyed both Muhney and Engen! And I would welcome either of them back to Y&R with open arms (kissing not mandatory)!

The actress who originally played Heather Stephens was very good. In particular, I liked the interaction between the character and Victor. Victor would give her his typical attitude and this actress was able to give it right back to him.

Engen was good as Adam as well.

I don’t have any interest in watching her show. That being said, it is nice to see an item discussing her where the subject is something other than her trashing of Y&R!!

It’s been a while since I’ve commented here but after this screening I have book choice. AWFUL doesn’t BEGIN to describe what I just grated my teeth through. As VR is credited as writer it stands to reason it started with the first scenes throwing major shade at Y&R and P&G. Up to and including the infamous deliberately spit on me scene. After that it was a complete hot mess. A mumbling lead actress you litetally couldn’t understand. Off the wall and over the top black caricature actresses that ALL acted like that nosey “but I ain’t one to gossip” woman from In Living Color. An old black woman snatched off her wig and got all “ghetto” which really isn’t a THING! and finally Victoria Rowell..still a good actress in some respects but giving out the line she did that thang. She can’t be replaced so hire her back on that shows fictional soap
shouting out to Y&R too no doubt. Overall a complete mess from start to finish. And I thought Tyler Perry was bad. One take-away..the Urban Movie Channel has a lot to offer for 4.99 per month and I intend on keeping it. So there’s that.

Sorry, I will NOT watch this mess of a show.
Victoria has done nothing but cause trouble since she left Y&R, filing law suits over anything she could think of, so I have no interest in watching a show she is attached to.
VR has an ego the size of Texas…there is a reason she can’t get hired on an established show.
Sorry to anyone else attached to this production, but VR is poison to many soap fans!
