I liked Tony’s reaction better than Bobbie’s (listening to BJs heart in mAxie’s chest after the transplant. Tony’s deathbed words to Lucas really got me too. Such a shame they killed him off. Edward’s funeral had several really touching moments too. Tracy’s whole enchilada speech should get her the Emmy this year. She was amazing.

BM/Tony should have won the Emmy that year nothing has ever been as moving as his moment with BJ listening to her heart that was no more. Those are the moments that bring a tear to your heart they are all gone! I could give you a list an arm length long of actors who have been ignored over the years. I still get goose bumps watching him a great actor that never got the recognition he deserved!!!!

As soon as I saw the headline that asked which scene I thought was the best, Tony listening to BJ’s heart in Maxie’s chest popped into my brain. I agree with you completely. He was robbed of an Emmy that year! What a performance.

Well, the iconic one that defines GH for me is L&L cheering w/joy after their wedding. It worked on 2 levels – that of the fictional L&L, and also the very real relief you could see on the actors’ faces that they had finally reached that moment and fulfilled it.

But, what the video missed was L&L’s ballroom sequence in the department store, Robert & Holly’s romantic interlude in their sauna w/champagne, *Felicia’s* response to her daughter receiving BJ’s heart (when she collapses against a wall & slides down it wailing – that’s the signature moment), little Robin running into Anna’s arms, Anna dancing the tango w/Duke the first time, a young crazy Heather in nurse’s garb (pick any one), and finally Luke throwing Laura’s luggage out of an airplane, followed by him pushing her.

True…actually, the most memorable is the entire GH episode of Luke and Laura’s wedding. It’s the one that makes you recall exactly where you were when it happened. Even if there are others that personally resonate more or that you simply like better, this is the one that stands out above all others, and there were many magnificent moments, particularly during the ’80′s….which is why any time the present day version references that decade with storylines and characters, it strikes an emotional chord with viewers.

Only one thing that bugs me, now
.. Some of the women’s hair is terrible..
long straight parted down the middle straggly hair and some look unkempt..
they need to get modernized and lose the 1970 look of long straggly hair..
RH/Liz looks so much prettier with her new hair cut!!
In the past years the hair was always so great!! So kept up!! So in with fashion of the times..
Past hair-doo’s were soooo much better :)

My votes for some iconic scenes…

Luke seducing Laura in the sailboat
Luke and Robert arguing on the docks over Holly when Luke returned after the avalanche
Robin running to Anna arms (followed by Emma running into Robin’s arms)
Sonny and Brenda losing it when he found the wire on her
Maxie telling Lulu goodbye before leaving on her eat pray love tour

The original “clink-boom” with Sonny, Brenda, Lily, and Jax-amazing!

    Johnny replied

The reasons that was so amazing were three fold. First the chemistry between Jax and Brenda was off the charts. Second…the production values and staging were phenomenal. Third, and most importantly, it got Lily off the show. I may sound heartless…but I am keeping it real. Viewers hated Lily…she was a non-entity. Sonny never loved her at all. She was an annoyance to him. Somehow since that happened, every regime has elevated her to iconic, saint like status and its just false and it is completely rewritten history. I am hearing some very disturbing rumours that she is alive, that she is Sabrina’s mother, etc. That would be completely wrong on so many levels. It would totally screw with the timeline and the ages of the characters involved. That would have to mean that Brenda and Robin are also old enough to be Sabrina’s mother as they were both old enough to give birth at the time of clink boom. It would also give Sonny another child, which none of us need to see. He already has 3. I say 3 not 4 because Sonny is NOT Michael’s father. Sonny kidnapped that child and has no right or claim to him whatsoever. Viewers have spoken loud and clear…we do NOT want Lily back! The canvas is littered with useless back from the dead characters like Franco and Victor…while the good back from the dead ones get the storyline shaft like Robin and AJ. And the ones we actually WANT back from the dead, like Alan, Emily, Georgie, etc….show no signs of returning other than as ghosts. Pardon the pun, but not really…I say its time to give up the ghost. Let sleeping molls lie. Let Lily stay dead.

I would hardly call a teenager informing a murderer for hire that he was brutally raped in a prison cell a shining moment in GH history. More like a blight that never should have happened.

There are so many to choose from but most memborable moments were from 80′s-mid 90′s. The Asian Quarter storyline with so many integral cast members- Robert, Anna, Robin, Sean, Tony and of course Frisco/Felicia kept me hooked to GH. In tie with BJ/ maxie heart transplant s/line. Once again GH was such an ensemble and writing superb with how characters were so connected in one s/line. Lucy inadvertently telling Felicia about Bj to Felicia break down and being comforted by Bobby was superb soap opera history . As audience you were invested- no fast forwarding!

Networks that care still send their shows on location. CBS sends Bold and Beautiful on location frequently and every now and then Y&R also. Disney/ABC has no love lost for soap budgets.
Despite climbing ratings GH still has a dismal budget. Robin returns after a 2 year absence and yet not a single location scene is shot. SMH.

My goodness, I love all of the characters and storylines Michael listed above! Nothing beats the adventure of the 80′s with the Scorpios and WSB, or the romance of the 90′s with Sonny and Brenda-my all-time favorite supercouple! This past weekend, I was watching clips on YouTube of Sonny, Brenda, Stone, etc. Such a great era! I was in high school at the time (am too young to remember Luke and Laura), and it brought back such great memories of rushing home to watch the Q’s, L&B Records, Puerto Rico, Luke’s night club, etc.! Congrats, GH!

Robin and Patrick’s love story from the day they met Dec 7, 2005 with “I need a miracle and your it”. Love them and continue to. Love Emma running to Robin. It still brings tears to my eyes and gives me the chills. Then when Patrick saw Robin and kissed her. There was no one in the church for Patrick at that point. . There is nothing like Scrubs chemistry. And there is NO WAY ROBIN WOULD LEAVE her hubby and child for anyone not even Jason.

Seeing these scenes shows me just how bad GH has gotten. The plot point writing and destroying character to move a character on doesn’t work. This is a soap and we know what’s characters will do unlike GH PRESENT head writer.

It’s really sad that after 50 yrs on the air GH has turned into a ridiculous cartoon and mere shadow of the greatness that it achieved over the years. It started out as a modest success and grew to become a phenomenon.
But today it’s about as forgettable as can be. It’s juvenile, laughable and ridiculous. That’s a tragedy after all the years that so many talented actors have to devoted to making it a compelling success.
My dream for GH is that one day Disney/ABC will come to their senses and give pink slips to Ron Carlavati and Frank Valentini. But of course that probably won’t happen because Disney could care less about the content of a daytime serial today. All they care about since the days of Bryan Frons is keeping budgets in the red. They proved that by cancelling AMC + OLTL. They could care less about quality.
I will always cherish the memories of the days pre-2000 when GH was compelling, well written and worthy of praise.
You can keep today’s liberal politics, juvenile implausible stories and the
cheap novice actors. I cancelled GH off my TV in 2011. And it will stay that way until they get a creative regime that is worthy of the show’s history. Cartini is not that regime. For those of you who care to waste your time on those hacks. Go ahead. I will remember GH’s glory days fondly and move on.

I love how in all the comments above no one listed anything from the year 2000 on as a classic great moment. Lol.

People seem to like Patrick and Robin. But despite the actor’s chemistry even their story will never compare to Stone and Robin or Robin and Jason. Those were ground breaking stories because of the HIV and classic romance because the actors were so good.

Jason Thompson is an outstanding actor but the current story for Patrick and Robin is terrible. Robin’s kidnapping was a convoluted, implausible mess and this so called triangle with ugly Betty is a complete insult to scrubs fans.

Without scrubs there are no more classic couples left for GH. All of the substance that made GH great is gone. All of the vets that Cartini parade on screen to hook long time viewers doesnt work. The show is an empty shell of it’s former greatness.

My fondest GH memories are of Frisco and Felicia, so I’m happy to see them represented after the crappy exit given Frisco last year. That moment shown of Frisco racing in to see newborn Maxie is so much more representative of the on-screen Frisco I grew up watching, and that’s how I’ll always remember him and Felicia despite the deadbeat reputations forced on them by lazy writers over the years.

Loved the 80s; so many great moments from the bonafide supercouples, plus Robin, Sean, Tiffany, Tony, Tania, Bobbie, Jake, Alan, Monica, Scotty, Lucy, Amy, Ruby, etc. — that was my GH. It was fun, it was compelling, it was love in the afternoon. Some stand-out moments in the 90s as well (notably from BJ/Maxie’s heart and Robin/Stone storylines). Too bad GH has been a shadow of its former self for many years now. I tuned in recently to give it another go and actually felt my brain cells dying. So sad.
