23 August 30th, 2011 Vincent Irizarry’s touching message on Facebook to his fans on his final tape day at AMC!

Vincent Irizarry posted a very special and emotional message last evening on his Facebook page, having to do with the fact that today is his final tape date at All My Children as Dr. David Hayward, as we know it.  The Daytime Award winning actor has been a fan favorite for years, even those his dastardly doc has certainly perpetrated some shenanigans on the folks in Pine Valley! Vincent’s post is titled: “All My Children’s Last Day with ABC…Exit Stage Left”

Here is Vincent’s touching message to his fans: “Tomorrow morning, I will wake up to go to work on All My Children for the last time under ABC.  It has been a wonderful, and even often times, seemingly magical ride all these years. As with all my fellow actors on the show, I don’t yet know where we’re going, but I certainly know where I’ve been. I couldn’t feel more priviledged to have traveled this journey with many of you throughout these years, nor more grateful to have had the opportunity to play such an entertaining and rewarding character such as Dr. David Hayward. The depth of my gratitude to all of you is beyond measure, therefore, I thank you all ad infinitum… Keep the faith : )”

Well soapers, it looks like the countdown has begun… just a few more weeks of AMC on network television! We best get out some hankies for it, as we can assume there will be some very emotional on-screen moments,  even though it will be moving online in the near future via Prospect Park.

I fell like I am the only one who is not sad. I think the shows will be better and thrive under the production of Prospect Park. I am eager to hear what actors, writers, and producers will be on board.

I agree. The networks have been deliberately trying to kill the soaps for years. I think the move will encourage new growth for the soaps if the fans stay loyal! I encourage fans to watch. If you don’t have PC access, maybe get together with frinds who do. And all of the soap saver groups on fb are trying to help Prospect park get a cable deal to air the shows on TV. I ask everyone to help us by showing your love to the actors and encouraging them to stay with the shows. PP is hammering out contracts right now. Remember, I’m sure that when the soaps moved to TV people thought they would tank. But they thrived. Let’s help them do it again! BTW, your screen name, Todd is very fitting! Love it! LOL!

Well put! Soon all tvs will have direct internet access. The online network is the face of the future. My name really is Todd…I just happen to share with one of the nost compelling characters ever created on all of television.

I’m eager to see what happens too, but I’m still not happy about the network cancellation, especially by the OLTL cancellation, because it doesn’t make sense to me. In my opinion, OLTL is the best soap opera on television. The stories and the acting are superb….and I will never understand ABC’s reasoning behind letting this crown jewel go. AMC, on the other hand, has been in decline for several years now. Even after they let go of these last two hack writers, after the Pratt reign of terror, it still really hasn’t improved in my opinion. The show still centers around Ryan & Greenlee, with everyone playing second fiddle to them…and the stories just don’t have any depth or richness to them. No family angles, no history, no believability….just a bunch of quick flash stories that don’t add up and don’t give the talent a chance to spread their wings and show their capability. AMC has just disappointed it’s fans for far too long, and it becomes really hard to bounce back from that. So, my hope is, once they make this move to Prospect Park, someone steps back and says, “We really need to get this show back on track and go back to the drawing board.”

The show is not centering around ryan and greenlee. There are many stroies going on, and no one plays second fiddle to them. Have you watched the last few months? They are actually being played as the crazy ones for a change.

I have watched AMC for years and years…. and in MY Personal Opinion….too much time is being given to both Ryan & Greenlee. Constantly butting into Kendall, Zach and anyone else’s life that they can butt into. They are the crazy ones, but not enough people put them in their place, like they should. I mean crazy Annie is a much better parent than Ryan these days. He never spends time with his child and he and Greenlee never work. Fusion must be in serious trouble. My whole point is, AMC needs to develop richer stories….I know they are short on time, but they should take a note from OLTL…..

we love AMC and the new company will treat it with passion as it should have been. On ABC it was doomed now it can live on. Last thing any of us should do is trash talk any charactor or story. We want more people to watch and watch it get better..

And it doesn’t do any good to turn a blind eye to the problems that exist with the storylines that are currently running. I love AMC….I have for years, but there are issues that PP are going to have to address, if they want to continue on with AMC. Because let’s not forget, PP is in the business of making money….they are not going to hold on to AMC if it doesn’t improve and losses them money. Granted, right now they are the white knights swooping in to save the day, and I’m glad for that, but let’s not forget they are running a business. The AMC writing team are going to ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY improve on the storytelling, or it won’t matter that PP came in and save the show.

Just today, I was watching AMC, and I noticed the major problem that is currently happening. All the characters are centered around this one storyline of Project Orpheus. Erica is off searching for Mike Roy, Ryan & Greenlee are obsessed with nailing David, Jake is constantly worrying about Cara being involved with David, Tad & Dixie are fighting over David, Kendall & Zach are deeply involved with David……I mean, that is not good. They are all talented actors and opportunity for great storytelling is being wasted. I don’t think I’m wrong about this. I want the best for AMC and I want them to be around for another 41 years….and I think the best way to do that is to improve on the problems. Let PP see this and address the issues immediately, that way AMC can grow and prosper…

I really do hope that Vincent moves on with Prospect Park, I just can’t imagine the show without him. I’d like to see him with Cara and really do some great things with his research, and finally find some happiness. Vincent is such a wonderful actor, he has made me laugh out loud, and cry. If you read this Vincent please stay on.

Oh I entirely agree this show was ruined in the last 7 years because of Ryan Lavery and Greenlee. Moreso Ryan. All of the stories and their subsequent arcs had and still have Ryan headlining them. What exactly is his purpose of day in and day out repeating the same ole same ole of going after David Hayward and hellbent on being part of the Slater marriage once again? The writing for this finale has been horrendous–and once again the poor actors are pulling out all stops making it semi believable.

Not to mention this stupid storyline with Marissa, Bianca & JR. I’m so sick of writers throwing people together out of nowhere and making them gay. Since when did Marissa develop these feelings? It’s a slap in the face to people who are gay, and go through all kinds of struggles in their lives to be with whom they want to be with, and to live their lives the way they want. I hate when being gay becomes a trendy thing for shows to throw together. I will be so glad if and when Babe comes back and gets her son….cause quite frankly, I’m sick of this so-called strong motherly bond that Marissa supposedly has for AJ. I can’t even believe this character is still on the show. Haven’t the writers gotten it yet, Marissa was never well received by the audience. Get rid of her!! It doesn’t matter who is playing the character…..she just doesn’t make the cut.

I would love for Bianca’s first love, Sarah, to make a return to Pine Valley and rock Marissa & Bianca’s world up. Let’s see, she could have left the man that her mother forced her to marry, and made her way back to Pine Valley, and run into Bianca somewhere…..that would be amazing. And that is what we call writing, and following some history of the characters..lol

OLTL getting cancelled is so stupid! It’s #3 in the ratings and #2 in key demos!!!! The stories are on fire! Tea killed me yesterday when she was begging Victor not to die! God, Frons and Sweeney are idiots who deserve to be fired ASAP!!!!!

I’m going to miss all my baby boomer actors that have been on daytime for over 25 years. I remember reading about Irizarry in tv guide when they still printed a full page about soaps-Lujack from Guiding Light! My 80′s guys1 He’s such a solid actor he’s had steady work on several shows for 28 years.

I still expect to see him somewhere….maybe even on line.
